00:00Alexandra Daddario is known for being a glamorous fashionista on and off the red carpet, but
00:05she hasn't always hit the mark when it comes to her outfits. Here are the fashion don'ts
00:10that Daddario probably wishes she could take back.
00:14Vivienne Westwood pioneered punk fashion and is globally recognized as a style icon. So
00:18when we say that Alexandra Daddario's black and gold dress at the 2017 Billboard Awards
00:23felt outdated, we mean it in the most respectful way possible. Objectively, the dress is a
00:28work of art and features a unique cut. However, it takes a certain eye for haute couture to
00:33pull off such an unconventional and avant-garde piece. Otherwise, your eye only catches the
00:37heavy drapery and vintage curtain pattern. The simple ponytail and black ankle strap
00:42pumps were attempts at modernization, but they ultimately didn't tie the look together,
00:46in our opinion.
00:47Tell me about this dress.
00:48This is Vivienne Westwood, and I'm duct-taped into it, literally.
00:54At the Hollywood premiere of Best Friends in 2018, Daddario donned a surprisingly unfashionable
00:59outfit that featured a royal purple v-neck blouse, cream coat, skinny jeans, and black
01:04booties. This outfit combo was all over the place and included several pieces that revealed
01:08her distinctly millennial fashion sense. Anyone from the early aughts will remember tucking
01:12their skinny jeans into suede ankle boots, which isn't a crime in and of itself so much
01:17as a reminder of Daddario's failure to modernize her wardrobe.
01:20The ensemble felt outmoded for 2018, the year that reintroduced wide-leg denim and
01:24sleek combat boots.
01:27In 2019, Daddario attended the premiere of Why Women Kill wearing a burgundy, faux-leather-wrapped
01:32top and black straight-leg pants. She also paired her vampy outfit with a dark lip and
01:37strappy heels.
01:38Daddario's edgy Y2K look seemed out of place and didn't coincide with her character's wardrobe
01:43either. While the throwback outfit may be considered outdated, some fans think that
01:46the actor absolutely killed it with this look, as the bold red complemented her complexion
01:51and natural brunette hair.
01:53The metallic trend comes and goes, but it's very much a fad from the futuristic 80s. The
01:58eye-catching gleam of colorful lame garments was one of those decade-specific micro-trends
02:03that never quite made a legitimate comeback. Sure, people still wear sparkly New Year's
02:07Eve dresses, and it's not uncommon to see metallic pants every once in a while, but
02:11metallic silver outfits in 2022 sometimes appear outdated.
02:15Although Daddario's sleek center-part updo is modern enough, the glitzy mini-dress and
02:19rhinestone heels haven't aged well. There's a fine line between trendy runway metallics
02:24and 80s kitsch, and her GQ outfit veered too close to the latter for our liking.
02:30This spring, Alexandra Daddario attended the F1 Grand Prix at the Circuit de Monaco. For
02:34the international racing competition, the actor donned a lovely white garden party dress
02:38— or what would have been a lovely dress had it not featured such a dizzying floral
02:43pattern. White floral dresses leave a feminine impression, but the palm-sized flowers were
02:48far from dainty. She would have done better to reach for a dress with a smaller, subtler
02:52print. The incongruous transparent pumps did her no favors, either.
02:57At the 2024 Filming Italy Festival, Daddario opted for a pink and green striped maxi-dress
03:02with thin straps and bow-tie detail. The striped dress wasn't so much outdated as it was an
03:07outright unfortunate fashion choice. Together, the tent-like fit, bold stripes, and crumpled
03:12bow-tie looked similar to a poorly wrapped Christmas present and did little for Daddario's
03:16figure or complexion. Although the oversized dress helped conceal her baby bump, we don't
03:21understand the appeal of its shapeless silhouette and Easter egg-esque colors.
