00:00When I launched Homewards last year, I made clear our determination to work in collaboration
00:05to demonstrate that it is possible to end homelessness, making it rare, brief and unrepeated.
00:14We knew from the outset Homewards would only be successful if we built on all your incredible work,
00:20knowledge and insight. As you all know too well, homelessness is a complex issue.
00:26The wide variety of roles and expertise present today reflects that. From those who work on street
00:32outreach, to support workers, youth workers, mental health nurses, housing officers and night shelter
00:40managers. And just like our emergency services, you are the people who are there for others when
00:46they are in greatest need, providing unconditional care, compassion and humanity. That's why I'm so
00:55pleased that the blue light card will now be available to people working across the homelessness
00:59sector, serving as recognition for the vital work you all do. Thank you once again for being here.
01:05I'm Sophie Atherton and I celebrate the enormous and invaluable contribution
01:10you and your colleagues across the UK make today and every day.
