00:00Hello, my name is Amber Allitt, and I'm a journalist specializing in education.
00:04So the Sunday Times has just released its highly anticipated Good University Guide for the 2025
00:10academic year. This ranks the UK's 160-odd universities based on a whole slew of different
00:16metrics. In a stunning twist this year, both of our internationally renowned Oxbridge universities
00:23have actually been nudged out of the top two spots, with the London School of Economics and
00:27Political Science shooting up into the top spot, and Scotland's St Andrews in second.
00:33The Times also gives out awards to universities that have excelled across different categories.
00:382025 Specialist University of the Year is the University of Arts London,
00:44while Loughborough University has been crowned the Sports University of the Year.
00:48When it comes down to teaching quality, the University of East London has come out on top,
00:53but when it's down to students having the best experience, while studying there,
00:57St Andrews is once again the winner. This year, the Times has also included a new
01:03sustainability metric to keep up with concerns around climate change. They've announced that
01:08the very first inaugural 2025 Sustainable University of the Year will be the University of Reading.
