00:43First, check your heating system before switching it back on for the winter,
00:47making sure your boiler pressure is right and bleeding your radiators to release trapped air and keep your system running efficiently.
00:54You should also locate and fix any air leaks your property may have, such as fixing draughts around windows to prevent energy waste.
01:01You can also install heavy curtains that will keep heat from escaping through windows and doors.
01:06Consider switching to LED bulbs. These more modern alternatives to traditional incandescent bulbs use far less energy and can cut your electricity bill.
01:15Program your thermostat, setting it only to heat your home when you're there, and consider a smart thermostat for remote control.
01:23And finally, reduce unnecessary energy use by drying clothes outside when possible,
01:28especially while the weather is still relatively mild, and use appliances wisely.
