00:00As it comes to sports betting in the state of Missouri, just when I thought we were in,
00:07they pulled me back out.
00:08I mean, come on, Pat, what is going on here?
00:10Is this going to be on the ballot in November?
00:12Is it not going to be on the ballot?
00:13I just got done talking to somebody the other day about this.
00:16They said, you know, sports betting going to be legal anywhere else in the United States
00:18this year.
00:19I'm like, maybe Missouri.
00:20What's going on here, man?
00:21Well, first of all, I mean, I'm really excited to talk about Missouri, but I really want
00:25you to have a segment soon to fully discuss the geographic similarities between Miami
00:31and New York.
00:32I really need a full segment on that, so please schedule that in.
00:36But as for Missouri, it is going to be on the ballot.
00:39We know this.
00:41We know that much.
00:42The ballot was finalized on Tuesday by the Secretary of State, and it's going to be on
00:47the ballot, so we know that.
00:50This opposition, though, is not surprising.
00:52I think, you know, we've talked about this throughout the summer, really, as the ballot
00:56petition was getting underway and getting the signatures, getting the signatures turned
01:00in, the certification.
01:01You know, we were told there was going to be some opposition at some point.
01:06That, of course, started with a lawsuit at the end of last month challenging the certification
01:12process.
01:13You know, I think we talked about it earlier this week.
01:14I watched a whole, you know, couple, seven hours of the very boring law and order-esque
01:22situation where we were, you know, talking to signature experts and everything, and it
01:27turns out the judge ruled with the Secretary of State, said, you know, the certification
01:31process was all good.
01:32It's fine.
01:33It's okay.
01:35But as that ruling comes through, now there's a campaign that has popped up to oppose the
01:41sports betting ballot initiative.
01:44We don't know much about it, just like we don't know much about who was behind the lawsuit.
01:50It's just some political operatives in the state.
01:53We're trying to dig and see what we can find, who's going to be against this opposition.
01:59They said it's a huge, they're going to bring together a huge coalition of people to oppose
02:03it.
02:04So we know that their issue on the website they have is all about the language and how
02:10it was written behind closed doors by out-of-state companies and the professional sports teams
02:16with loopholes and all that, and it won't actually bring any money to Missouri and to
02:21fund education.
02:23And we'll see if that's, you know, we know that there's support, 50 percent in the latest
02:29poll four and 21 percent undecided, so it seems like it's a sure bet to pass at this
02:34point.
02:35Again, we'll have to watch it really closely on Election Day.
02:39It's the election I'll be watching, you know.
02:42And yeah, I mean, opposition, we'll see opposition ads.
02:45Speaking of ads, Winning for Missouri Education, the coalition that put this on the ballot,
02:50released their first ad with a Missouri teacher and mom talking about the benefits of how
02:56the tax money will go to the education in the state.
02:58So you know, it's going to be one of those political ad battles in Missouri.
03:01You know, you see plenty of ads, political ads this time of year, and they're just going
03:05to add to it.
03:09And I think it's going to be one of those political ad battles.
03:10And I think it's going to be one of those political ad battles.
03:11And I think it's going to be one of those political ad battles.
