00:00Putting in an honest and hard day's work in service of the public's interests over time is highly dignified and praiseworthy.

00:08Hence, in today's auspicious occasion celebrating government work, the President leads the nation in paying homage to government workers

00:16with outstanding careers in public service as we hear more from our Alan Francisco.

00:23President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. greeted and thanked government workers as he led the award ceremony for the 2024 Outstanding Government Workers held at Malacanang earlier today.

00:35This occasion highlights the exceptional talent and dedication of government employees in serving the public.

00:41And a happy 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary to my fellow workers in government.

00:52So let me congratulate this year's Outstanding Government Workers.

00:56Your exceptional service, your complemented by your principles, your virtues, your hard work has truly inspired everyone to strive to make a difference in our society.

01:07The annual search for Outstanding Government Workers is based on the Civil Service Act of 1959 which was strengthened by former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.

01:18Over six decades since it began, President Marcos said the goal remains the same, to recognize and honor the contributions of government employees in public service.

01:28Three distinguished award categories were handed out, the Presidential Lingkud Bayan, Outstanding Public Officials and Employees, Ordangal ng Bayan, and the CSC Pag-asa Award.

01:39According to President Marcos, public service can be seen as challenging, exciting, and rewarding.

01:44We serve because we make a difference. We serve because it is in our DNA. We serve because we love the Philippines.

01:53He added that public servants have contributed to streamlining government processes, improving the economy, and enhancing services.

02:00The President believes that those recognized and other government employees are helping to advance the vision of a Bagong Pilipinas.

02:08He also called for continued transparency in work and to serve with integrity and efficiency.

02:14Thank you for all the good work that you all do. And I hope that this small recognition that we do today to our awardees just serves to remind us of the army of people who are working quietly, who are not recognized, but continue to go to work every day and do their job the best way that they can.

02:40And for that, I thank you all who are in the civil service.
