00:00Tracing the identity of remains found at Notre Dame had been the focus of
00:05researchers for over two and a half years. It comes after two coffins were
00:10discovered in the cathedral as construction was underway to restore
00:14the spire. Archaeologists were quick to identify the remains of the first as a
00:19member of the clergy but identifying the second was a lot more difficult. The
00:24remains were older and bone fragments needed to be examined using cutting-edge
00:28technology. The findings showed the person was sick and had died young.
00:35The person was in their 30s. They had a difficult end to their life. They
00:39suffered from tuberculosis along with chronic meningitis and then they lost
00:42most of their teeth. The skeleton was deformed and had arched legs similar to
00:48those found in a horse rider like poet Joachim Dubélé who died in 1560 and
00:54who returned to Paris towards the end of his life.
00:57Dubélé who was sick goes to his uncle in Paris and his uncle used to go to Notre Dame.
01:08Then he dies and is offered a burial at Notre Dame.
01:13Hundreds of other remains found inside Notre Dame are now being researched, a
01:18process that's poised to unearth the secrets of Paris's famed cathedral.
