00:28Adventures of Beetlejuice – Skeletons in the Closet
00:31Beetlejuice's very first outing in the world of gaming was not as warm of a welcome as
00:35it could have been.
00:36Based on the often-forgotten animated series, Adventures of Beetlejuice tasked players with
00:41hacking loogies at monsters while protecting Lydia, who had a strange habit of wandering
00:47around the map aimlessly until it was time to clean up corpses.
00:51And that's really all you do.
00:54Yeah, it isn't the most engaging game to have released on MS-DOS, and honestly, Beetlejuice
00:59could have been better if it was just a regular platformer instead of… whatever this is.

01:12Odd how the TV show got a game before the movie did, but better late than never, right?
01:17Oh, if only.
01:19If you've ever heard the name LJN, then you may already have an idea as to how Beetlejuice
01:24for the NES turned out.
01:26Well, we got that platformer, but it came in the laziest way possible.
01:32Beetlejuice has almost nothing to do with the movie in any way.
01:35Sure, there are bugs to squash and houses to run into, but it's just your run-of-the-mill
01:41platformer with an arbitrary license slapped onto it.
01:44Same old story, same old song and dance.
01:47Nothing tells us this was just a cash-grab bit of contract work, because we know Rare
01:51— yes, that Rare — would have never put out something this haphazardly cobbled together.
02:04Beetlejuice!
02:05Horrific Hijinx from the Neitherworld.
02:08We aren't out of the shovelware just yet.
02:11Horrific Hijinx was the very last video game centered entirely around Beetlejuice and only
02:17Beetlejuice, and unfortunately, it wasn't any better than the previous games.
02:22Like Adventures of Beetlejuice, the game based itself around the animated series.
02:26Like the LJN-published Beetlejuice game, it was the most subpar game you could imagine.
02:32Yep, another platformer that did next to nothing in taking advantage of the IP to make something
02:38unique.
02:39Just more jumping around houses and squashing bugs.
02:42Look, we understand that you could only do so much with the Game Boy, but even so, you
02:47could do something a little more interesting than this, Rare.
02:50LEGO Dimensions.
03:03Beetlejuice didn't make an appearance in video games for over twenty years.
03:07Granted, the IP hadn't been relevant during that time, but LEGO Dimensions would get the
03:11ball slowly rolling for a possible renewed interest.
03:15In year two of its post-launch support, TT Games launched Beetlejuice as a new playable
03:20character along with a mountable Saturn sandworm and spider.
03:25Buying this fun pack not only got you Beetlejuice and the mounts, it also granted you access
03:30into the Neitherworld so you could acquire even more gold bricks.
03:34We only wish the bioexorcist had gotten some role in the main story, or at the very least,
03:38a whole level of his own besides the free roam.
03:41The service is complete.
03:44By the power vested in me, I now pronounce this gold brick yours.
03:55Fortnite.
03:57We've often joked about who hasn't been in Fortnite yet, and Beetlejuice himself has
04:11yet to make an appearance.
04:13However, Fortnite's save the world mode did have a whole character inspired by him.
04:18Meet Beetle Jess, a legendary outlander who was only obtainable during the 2017 Fortnite
04:24Mayors via Loot Llamas.
04:26Sadly, there isn't much else to love about this character outside of the overall design.
04:31Of course, we won't be surprised if the next Fortnite Mayors event finally puts in
04:35the man of the hour.
04:44Fallout 76.
04:47The Fallout games are no stranger to movie references, and of them all, we wouldn't
04:51have expected a Beetlejuice reference to pop up in Fallout 76.
04:56In fact, there are two references to the movie.
04:59The first one can be found right outside of Wayward, where a car has collapsed through
05:03a bridge and sent two bodies out of the driver and passenger seats.
05:07This accident was exactly how Adam and Barbara died, as they tried to swerve from hitting
05:11a dog while crossing a bridge.
05:13The second reference can be found in Pleasant Point.
05:17Find the cemetery next to the church and look for a chalk outline of a door.
05:21This door is exactly how Adam and Barbara traveled to the Neitherworld, and that burned
05:25book on the ground could probably be their copy of the handbook for the recently deceased.
05:31Roblox.
05:45As a means to celebrate the release of 2024's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie, Roblox hosted
05:50an event where players got to explore and experience a campaign within the franchise.
05:55Players could run around in both the miniature model of Winter River and the Neitherworld
05:59as they searched for keys in an effort to free Astrid.
06:03The campaign ran for roughly a month up until the movie's release, so if you missed out
06:07on calling the bioexorcist yourself, you may have to wait until the third movie, if there
06:12will be one.
06:13Multi Vs.
06:39Roblox was not the only game to capitalize on the release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
06:43As the movie ramped up for release, Multiverses was in the midst of its second season,
06:48debuting with Samurai Jack with the main man in tow. As an assassin class fighter,
06:53Beetlejuice is able to utilize his arm mallets and horrifically sharp spikes to send rivals flying.
06:59Christopher Swindle, who voiced Beetlejuice in LEGO Dimensions,
07:03even returned to voice the character again for this outing.
07:06We just wish he wasn't so freaking expensive at launch.
