00:00I think for myself, when I first came to New York,
00:06I really discovered community and an emphasis on community.
00:09And it happened naturally.
00:12Making clothes out of my apartment,
00:13asking friends that were in fashion,
00:16or just getting in fashion, or just inspired by fashion,
00:18to be like, hey, do you want to wear my clothes?
00:22Be my model, photographer, a style of collection.
00:25It organically, for me, started like that.
00:28And then I would say, it picked up a little bit back
00:30in 2017, 2018, when I actually seen the industry,
00:34kind of have a lot of emphasis on the word community.
00:37And that was kind of like the driving
00:39what everyone was talking about, community, community, community.
00:42And they were like, do you need that?
00:44In a way where I felt like it was something very innate,
00:49organic for myself, being the oldest of five.
00:53I think it was very, I think the work that I do
00:57is somewhat of a labor of love.
01:00Sometimes I really do feel like my physical body
01:04kind of just is a step further than my spirituality,
01:08in the sense of just creating a collection,
01:11or being in this place, in this place, or the next place.
01:14Even today, I spend the entire, since 8 AM in the morning,
01:17in my factory, just cutting up fabric,
01:20getting ready for the collection on Monday,
01:22and not really stepping out of that.
01:26Very linear in that, because of how important I think it is.
01:31I think it's very important to be able to actually
01:34see yourself on stages like this,
01:36on stages at the CFDA Award, and really being able to be
01:39like, wow, I can't do that, while having complete autonomy
01:44of who I am, where I'm going, and kind of just like
01:48how I want to really show up in the world.
