00:00Hi everyone, my name is Salish Madder from California.
00:06You probably know me from my dad's channel, Jordan Madder.
00:09Yeah, I took over it.
00:10The man had his own channel, photographing people and nice things, and boom!
00:14One day, the titles on his channel were like, My Daughter Did This and My Daughter Did That.
00:19He never planned for this to happen.
00:21You know what they say, chance is worth a thousand plans.
00:24Yeah, I can be poetic sometimes.
00:27Actually, English is one of my favorite subjects, but math?
00:31Oh god, I hate it.
00:33If you're a math hater, comment below.
00:35Okay, okay, I think I'm getting ahead of myself.
00:37I'm Salish.
00:38My parents call me Say sometimes.
00:40I'm your typical girl next door.
00:42Typical family, typical childhood.
00:44A typical teenager with a not very typical name.
00:47My parents gave me this name, which means giver of the water.
00:50I love my name, and I think it's unique and cool.
00:54There is some uniqueness in my life, actually.
00:56Like some unique people.
00:57And no, it's not Nidal.
00:59If you're here to hear about me and Nidal, I'm sorry to disappoint you.
01:02Not gonna talk about that boy.
01:04No way.
01:05Nuh-uh.
01:06Nope.
01:07And please, animator, if I accidentally mention him, which is very, very, very unlikely, please
01:11cut it out.
01:12This story is about me.
01:14Not him.
01:15Yeah, whatever.
01:16As most of you know, I'm a gymnast.
01:18Gymnastics is more than a sport or hobby to me.
01:21It's part of my identity.
01:22It makes me who I am today.
01:23I started it at a very young age.
01:26Fun fact.
01:27Did you know that most major gymnasts start their career as early as two years old?
01:32And that was my case, too.
01:34Dad said that when I was only two years old, I told him I wanted to be the best gymnast
01:39in the world.
01:40I mean, kids at that age will say anything.
01:42No, but seriously, I wanted to be really, really good.
01:46My gymnast friends were amazing, and we were very close.
01:50And let me be honest, gymnastics wasn't easy at all.
01:53But having friends makes everything easier and more fun.
01:57And whenever I had to compete, they were there to root for me.
02:00That's why leaving them was one of the saddest days of my life.
02:04Well, you see, when I was 10, my parents decided that we'd move to L.A.
02:08I had been living my whole life in Nyack, a village near New York City.
02:12I had so many amazing memories there, especially with my oldest brother Hudson.
02:16We were always together, cooking together, celebrating our birthdays together,
02:20and even getting glasses together.
02:22You name it.
02:23I was also close to my mom.
02:25She's my idol.
02:26Dad and Hudson can be annoying sometimes, but Mom?
02:29Oh man, she's amazing.
02:31She's camera shy, though, and that's okay.
02:34She even once agreed to do a mom reveal on the channel,
02:37although I know how anxious that made her feel.
02:39But we have so many things in common.
02:41We're both vegetarians, and, you know, having lunch with her is amazing.
02:45Because I can try her food all the time.
02:48I like shopping with her and getting our nails done together.
02:51And we once tried roller skating,
02:53but it didn't go well because she broke her ankle in three different places,
02:57and I was super worried about her.
02:59The doctor said she wouldn't be able to walk for five months.
03:02She wasn't able to come to my gymnastics meet that we had been waiting for two years,
03:07which made me really sad.
03:09Not gonna deny that.
03:10I won four medals that day to make my mama proud.
03:13And soon enough, she got better.
03:15Fun fact about my mom.
03:17Did you know that her birthday is a day before mine?
03:21So we celebrated it together.
03:23And it's one of the best days of the year.
03:26I was born on November 29, 2009, by the way.
03:29Yeah, Mom is the best.
03:31I remember one day when Mom wasn't feeling well for days,
03:34and I had a very important shooting with Dad.
03:37But I just couldn't leave Mom that day.
03:39I told Dad I wasn't going with him and ran to Mom.
03:43I snuck under the bed while she was still asleep and started praying.
03:46Please, God, let Mom live.
03:49Please, I'll be a good girl.
03:51Please, please, please.
03:53Say, I'm not dying, babe.
03:55You're awake?
03:56Mom, I don't want to go with Dad.
03:58I want to stay with you.
04:00I want to be your little daughter forever.
04:02You'll always be my little daughter.
04:05But sometimes we have to do things even if we don't feel like it.
04:09This is what makes us responsible in life.
04:11I guess you're right.
04:13But no matter how old I get, you'll always be my mother.
04:16That's for sure.
04:18And, well, about Dad.
04:20Yeah, he was busy most of the time.
04:22And I really missed him.
04:24Dad, are you coming home late tonight?
04:26Honey, you know Daddy has to work.
04:29But I love you so much.
04:31Are you going to spend your time with Eliana?
04:33I said I love you, Cece.
04:35And I said, are you going to spend time with Eliana?
04:39Well, yeah, we're shooting today.
04:41But I love you, Cece.
04:43I love you too, Daddy.
04:44I'm your only little girl.
04:45Always remember that.
04:46It's only me who's going to take care of you when you're old and wrinkly
04:49and bald and gray and fat and...
04:51Yes, I get your point.
04:53You're my only princess.
04:55I love you, Cece.
04:56I love you too, Daddy.
04:57I thought Dad would be super happy about moving to L.A.,
05:00unlike the rest of my family.
05:02But one night, we were going for a ride in Dad's car
05:05and Dad looked super occupied and worried.
05:07He didn't say much during the ride
05:09and I just felt something was wrong.
05:11The moment he pulled over, I hugged him.
05:13Don't worry, Dad.
05:14Everything is going to be okay.
05:16And he hugged me back.
05:18And I felt so safe and peaceful.
05:20Yeah, I know I don't like to show my emotions a lot,
05:23but, you know, sometimes you have to do things
05:25you normally wouldn't do to help your loved ones.
05:28I mean, come on.
05:29Mr. Matter was feeling down.
05:31He's my dad.
05:32He's a redhead.
05:33But I love him.
05:35He's a good father.
05:36We only film on Sundays
05:37and the rest of the week,
05:38we enjoy our time together.
05:40He drives me to school,
05:41we go to the beach,
05:42and ride bikes together.
05:43He's awesome and cool.
05:45I swear.
05:46And not as cringy as you see him in the videos.
05:48Yeah, whatever.
05:49Me and my friends share...
05:51Wait.
05:52I can hear my dad in my head correcting me.
05:54It's my friends and I,
05:55and not me and my friends.
05:57Never mind.
05:58I'm changing the entire sentence.
06:00Saying goodbye to my friends
06:02was the hardest day of my life.
06:04I got them each a present
06:05and they were the happiest.
06:06Salish,
06:07you promise to keep in touch?
06:09I promise.
06:10I'll miss you guys so much.
06:12And I hugged them all very tight.
06:14I said goodbye to my life in Nayak,
06:16excited to start a new chapter in my life
06:18with my family by my side
06:19and gymnastics as my passion.
06:21What?
06:22What's going on?
06:23No, I'm not gonna say it.
06:25Nope.
06:26Forget it.
06:27Let's talk about the ceiling.
06:28Love the color.
06:29That's aerolin, right?
06:31Fine.
06:32I'm going to talk about it in general
06:34and in case I give a lot of details,
06:36you have to cut all that out.
06:37Promise?
06:38Yeah.
06:39When I moved to LA,
06:40I met him.
06:41We were shooting a video together
06:42then we went to Starbucks.
06:43I still remember what we got.
06:45Two vanilla frappuccinos,
06:46no whipped cream.
06:47And just like that,
06:48we became friends.
06:49It's like we have the same energy.
06:51We would run around and play,
06:53trying to hurt each other.
06:54But of course,
06:55I always end up hurting him.
06:57I'm way stronger.
06:58He's only a big baby.
07:00Now I have to say his name.
07:02I know.
07:03Need All Wonder.
07:04A self-taught freestyle flipper prodigy.
07:06Born in 2010.
07:07Yeah, he's too young.
07:08He has been making videos with my dad
07:10since he was 8.
07:11Yeah, I have to admit,
07:13he's cool.
07:14But did you notice?
07:15Like, yes.
07:16He's only 13 years old.
07:18But did you see his arm muscles?
07:19Oh boy.
07:20The first time I tried to wrestle with him,
07:22like always,
07:23I touched his arm.
07:24And man,
07:25you can tell this boy
07:26is going to be such a tough,
07:28good-looking man.
07:29I mean,
07:30he can look good in anything.
07:31Even when he wears my white dress.
07:33Yeah.
07:35Oh shoot.
07:36We're cutting that out.
07:37Yeah?
07:38I mean, eww.
07:39I mean,
07:40I've been homeschooled
07:41since we moved to LA.
07:42And having Need All around
07:43made everything easier.
07:44When we made the first challenging video,
07:46I was sure I was going to win over him.
07:48But I gotta say,
07:49competing with him was formidable.
07:51I'm just using a difficult word
07:53so Need All won't understand it.
07:55People loved us together.
07:56And they even started shipping us.
07:58And dad was not super happy about it.
08:01There was even a hashtag
08:03Hashtag Nailish.
08:04People were using it.
08:05I mean,
08:06me and Need All have chemistry.
08:07Like,
08:08you can easily tell.
08:09He has the biggest crush on me.
08:11And he sees me in his dreams.
08:13Poor thing.
08:14I never had a crush on him.
08:16Ew.
08:17Yeah, whatever.
08:18Like,
08:19maybe a little?
08:20You know,
08:21having a boy best friend is cool
08:22cause it's different from
08:23having a girl best friend.
08:24You know,
08:25you can get physical with a boy.
08:26Hitting and hurting him.
08:27It was like
08:28a new friendship
08:29I never experienced before
08:30and I'm enjoying it.
08:31Yeah,
08:32of course you're enjoying it.
08:33I'm way cooler than you.
08:34And prettier.
08:35And smarter.
08:36And more talented.
08:37I always get the prizes
08:38in our challenges.
08:39Your poor dad
08:40has spent a lot of money
08:41on me
08:42cause his daughter
08:43is a loser.
08:44Did you hear anything?
08:45That was just an annoying mosquito.
08:46But I got rid of it.
08:47MSA,
08:48please don't animate him.
08:49I'm way cooler.
08:50What was I saying?
08:51Oh yeah.
08:52The Wonder Boy
08:53is really my best friend.
08:54We had sleepovers.
08:55We celebrated Halloween.
08:56And even recorded
08:57a music video together.
08:58He's funny.
08:59And he doesn't care
09:00about what people think.
09:01He's honest
09:02and a daredevil.
09:03And I really like
09:04his personality.
09:05You know what
09:06these honest friends are like?
09:07Hey,
09:08you look ugly in that dress.
09:09Like a bald monkey.
09:10Take it off now.
09:11Yeah,
09:12that's him.
09:13And also,
09:14he's kinda cute.
09:17Cute.
09:19Fine.
09:20He's cute.
09:21I hope dad doesn't
09:22notice this part.
09:23But also,
09:24we do have
09:25a lot of differences.
09:26I mean,
09:27he eats meat
09:28with plastic straws
09:29and also likes
09:30weird boys
09:31stuff like.
09:32Yeah,
09:33I agree.
09:34I like weird stuff.
09:35Including you.
09:37And after six
09:38amazing months
09:39of friendship
09:40and affection,
09:41Needle had to leave
09:42for Texas.
09:43And it made me
09:44very sad
09:45having to say goodbye
09:46to another
09:47close friend.
09:48We promised
09:49we'd talk everyday,
09:50FaceTime
09:51and message each other.
09:52But,
09:53you know,
09:54it's not like
09:55the same thing
09:56having him around
09:57and I was a bit
09:58upset about it.
09:59At least I had
10:00Boomer around.
10:01Boomy is my dog
10:02and one of the best
10:03things in my life.
10:04I took him for a walk
10:05everyday before school
10:06and it cheered me up
10:07every time.
10:08But,
10:09I still always felt
10:10empty because
10:11I missed my best friend.
10:12And I think
10:13my parents noticed it
10:14because one day,
10:15dad took me
10:16to Universal Studios
10:17and he told me
10:18we were making a video.
10:19But,
10:20suddenly,
10:21while we were walking,
10:22someone held me
10:23from the back
10:24and I immediately
10:25knew it was Needle.
10:26He held me
10:27and I wrapped
10:28my arms around him
10:29and it was
10:30an amazing moment.
10:31Actually,
10:32this is one of
10:33the many surprises
10:34we have for each other.
10:35We've been surprising
10:36each other in the last year
10:37and it made
10:38missing him less painful.
10:39And,
10:40you know what's
10:41even cooler?
10:42Needle spent his
10:43summer vacation
10:44here in LA
10:45and we made
10:46so many videos together.
10:47Speaking of surprises,
10:48my dad always
10:49came up with
10:50cool ideas to shoot.
10:51But,
10:52one of the best
10:53things I enjoy doing
10:54is skincare
10:55because I get to
10:56go on a drive
10:57and spend two hours
10:58getting ready.
10:59But,
11:00beauty has a price,
11:01you know?
11:02No,
11:03no,
11:04seriously.
11:05Boomy takes
11:06about 30 minutes
11:07in the bathroom
11:08so it's only
11:09an hour and a half.
11:10Not a lot.
11:11And also,
11:12I'm the first stop
11:13for the school bus
11:14and I have to be
11:15the earliest.
11:16Which is not fair
11:17by the way.
11:18I was a bit worried
11:19that I wouldn't
11:20fit into my new school
11:21especially that
11:22I was the only
11:23new 8th grader
11:24and I love that
11:25we don't have
11:26a dress code
11:27at our school
11:28and I can choose
11:29nice clothes
11:30every day.
11:31Man,
11:32I'm so happy.
11:33Actually,
11:34all this YouTube
11:35content is amazing.
11:36Making videos
11:37with my dad,
11:38doing challenges
11:39with talented people,
11:40having collaborations
11:41with cool people
11:42and YouTubers
11:43like Brit Rivera
11:44and Dhar Mann
11:45and many other
11:46amazing people.
11:47And now,
11:48I even have
11:49my own channel.
11:50Please go
11:51subscribe now.
11:52Life is good.
