Welcome back to another Tech Connect by the Vision Forward Association! The new eSight Go is finally here! So today, our Assistive Technology Experts are excited to unbox this long anticipated upgrade and share their initial thoughts with you all!
This modern wearable magnifier was produced by Gentex, who seek to improve upon the old eSight 4 by bringing you the same great features we've come to expect, such as magnified image stabilization (and a few new ones like tilt adjustment!) but with more reliability and with a longer battery life. However all of that was to be contingent on the device being more comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
A common complaint with previous versions was that users often found their neck muscles strained after prolonged use. This new design for the eSight Go is much lighter, clocking in at a featherweight 170 grams. Compare that with the eSight 4 which was 560 grams, or modern VR goggles which can be significantly heavier! Sounds too good to be true? How did they cut so much weight you may ask? Well they did improve the overall design, and trim where they could, a significant caveat is that they offloaded some of that weight onto a wired battery pack which is shaped like a horseshoe and worn over the shoulders and loose around the neck. This neck battery holds up to 3 hours of charge before being easy swapped out for a fresh battery and 3 more hours of use.
0:00 Start,
2:15 Outer and Inner Boxes, included literature and guides, Hard-shell case for the eSight Go!
7:10 Hardware quality, battery pack, necessary cords, nose pads options and head strap,
17:00 Trying on the device, initial test run of basic features, non-remote controls,
24:40 Wrap-Up and first impressions, planning further testing and comparisons,
26:00 Upcoming Videos and Events, check out our LMS for free ACVREP Credits!

00:00Hey, Luke, we got that box.
00:03Hey, what's in the box?
00:05Bro, it's the eSight Go.
00:07What's in the box?
00:09He just told you.
00:21Hey, you're right, Colby. It is the eSight Go.
00:23Told you, I'm honest, Dave. I never lied to you.
00:25You sure are. I'm glad it's not the box that Brad Pitt got. Holy cow.
00:29Hi, all. Welcome back to another Tech Connect.
00:31Today, we are taking a look at a brand new device from Gentex.
00:35It is the eSight Go.
00:37Complete redesign from their previous model, the eSight 4,
00:41which we do have videos on this channel.
00:43We do? We do.
00:45I'm not sure, like you said, why exactly would you want to watch one on the old one.
00:48Did I say that? No.
00:50You did in a previous take that people don't know about.
00:54But you can watch an older version of that if you want.
00:58Otherwise, we just did an interview with Jeanette from Gentex.
01:02Yes, very nice lady.
01:04Yeah, our last Tech Connect Live.
01:06Spent a good 45 minutes or so talking about the device.
01:08She is a user herself and has been for years.
01:12So go and check that out.
01:14Otherwise, stick with us.
01:16We're going to unbox and then give you our quick first impression
01:18after putting the device on our head.
01:20Both of our heads at the same time.
01:22It's going to be a bit tight, but we're going to do it.
01:24It's going to be weird.
01:26All right, Cormac, it's time to crack into this box
01:29and see what we've got inside.
01:31And for everybody at home, this is not fake.
01:34We have literally never opened the eSight box before.
01:37So this is raw and unfiltered apart from the edits that Jonathan's going to do.
01:42Yes, I mean, we haven't opened the actual eSight box.
01:44The outside box we must have opened about 32 times as we were trying to get our...
01:48Shh, don't tell people.
01:51I can barely hear myself.
01:55But we just got it yesterday.
01:57We did indeed, yes.
01:59So this is literally an unboxing never-been-seen device.
02:03So if we give any opinions in this video, don't listen to them
02:06because they're probably all wrong.
02:08Or wait until our next video.
02:10I should mention that.
02:12As our next video, we probably will do a more informed video on our opinions.
02:15But for the moment, Corey, we get this very nice outer box.
02:19If you would care to come with your hand over here, feel this box here.
02:22What ply card would you say that is?
02:24That's about a 6 ply cardboard.
02:26Not bad.
02:28Environmentally, that's good.
02:30Used to use 8 ply, but now they're down to 6.
02:32I think it's made from reconstituted peas.
02:34Hummus?
02:36Hummus box.
02:38We said something before, but I would love an edible box.
02:41Yeah, me too.
02:43I think the first company that can do that, that would be great.
02:45Unbox and then eat it.
02:47As a take out, and then as a dessert, you eat the box?
02:49Yeah.
02:51So inside we have some, Corey, I'd like you to feel this, some excellent bubble wrap.
02:57It's a thick variety that really keeps your stuff secure.
03:01Now, I'm going to have a little trouble here getting the actual eSight box out.
03:05So allow me to tip this upside down.
03:07And here, Corey.
03:09Well, I'm not passing this to you yet.
03:11Don't get too excited.
03:13You said, here, Corey.
03:16So here we have the eSight Go.
03:18And it's in a very nice box, I have to say.
03:20And I will actually show people here the orange seal, which is on the box.
03:26And this, well, it's actually quite hard to tell.
03:28I think on camera.
03:30But this has not been broken.
03:32So as we say, we have not actually opened this yet.
03:34Corey, if you'd care to take a feel of the box.
03:36Give me your first impressions of the box itself.
03:38Okay.
03:40It's exactly what I'd expect.
03:42Quite box-like.
03:44The lid swings up.
03:46Yes.
03:48Rather than a two-piece design.
03:50I like the one-piece design.
03:52Well, me too, because then you don't lose the lid, you see.
03:54There were no glossy parts on this box, Corey.
03:56There's no kind of fancy bits of printing on here.
04:00It's just your pretty standard kind of matte box.
04:02And we will note, it says eSight by Gentex Corporation.
04:04This is the first eSight device that has come under the Gentex brand.
04:08And if you'd like to find out more about Gentex, Corey,
04:10you can watch our video.
04:13Our live video where we had the very nice Gentex.
04:15Now I'm going to take my keys here.
04:17We're going to use my keys to open up the orange seal.
04:19And Corey, once this is done, there's no returning this device.
04:21There's no going back.
04:23A lot of pressure here.
04:25We've gone ahead and done that.
04:27Let's crack it open and see what we have inside.
04:29Alright, first things first.
04:31Dear valued eSight customer.
04:33Oh, this is interesting.
04:35The first thing we get here, on the back of this, it says...
04:37Please do not ever do an unboxing video.
04:39It's actually worse than that.
04:41It says,
04:43We would like to inform you that due to an unforeseen supply chain issue,
04:45the wireless remote typically included with your eSight Go device
04:47will be shipped separately to you at a later date.
04:49We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
04:51Now, I will point out, Corey,
04:53that doesn't mean that you can't control your device.
04:55Because you can control it using the buttons on the headset.
04:57On the side, yes.
04:59And we learned that from Jeanette.
05:01We did, we learned that from Jeanette.
05:03I'm glad we did.
05:05But the remote, which is displayed here,
05:07is not included.
05:09And obviously, by the time you purchase your own,
05:11if you choose to,
05:13when you get it,
05:15you may already have the wireless remote
05:17included in the box.
05:19Indeed.
05:21And interestingly, it doesn't seem to be for sale
05:23on their website still.
05:25But they are doing in-home demos.
05:27So I'm not sure if this is actually fully released yet or not.
05:29Anyway, next thing we have, Corey,
05:31Quick Start Guide.
05:33And this is a quick start guide.
05:36And this will just tell us how to get started.
05:38Have you ever utilized a quick start guide?
05:40Don't think so.
05:42Because for the most part,
05:44if you know something about technology,
05:46you can figure it out for yourself.
05:48And then inside, Corey,
05:50we have the thing itself.
05:52If you care to check out the case.
05:54Okay, it's a little hard-shelled case.
05:56Zipper.
05:58I would assume it's...
06:00Oh, I'm going to unzip it.
06:02Corey's getting a little out of himself here.
06:04This is like a triple...
06:06This is like Inception.
06:08Box within a box within a box.
06:10There you go. I unzipped it for you.
06:12Thank you so much for your assistance there.
06:14Before we do look inside, though,
06:16one more thing we have here, which is kind of interesting.
06:18We have...
06:20So this is like a smelling chart that we have here.
06:22Wow, it's not what I thought you said.
06:24I thought you said a smelling chart.
06:26And I was like, that's interesting.
06:28The eSight is now
06:30an olfactory age.
06:33This is kind of cool.
06:35We have different objects in here.
06:37So different symbols of objects.
06:39Different words of different sizes.
06:41And so this is basically a training chart that we can use.
06:43We have a check in here.
06:45So a training chart that we can use
06:47to train on the device.
06:49And Corey, in the past, eSight have provided training
06:51over the phone.
06:53So I'm wondering whether this is part of their training materials.
06:55Yeah, it made sense for them to...
06:57Now they know for sure that individuals
06:59have something to use
07:01and saying, hey, can you find...
07:03Makes a lot of sense, yeah.
07:05All right, well, I don't think we need these boxes anymore.
07:07So get rid of that one.
07:09Let's take a look at the actual device itself.
07:13Corey, we find out what's in the box.
07:15We did find out what's in the box.
07:17End of the video?
07:19No, I think we have a little bit more.
07:21We said we done box, which we did.
07:23But now we gotta find out what's in the case.
07:25Our impressions of the device.
07:27Well, we got to find out what's in the case.
07:29That's true.
07:31So, Corey, what's inside the case?
07:33Well, let me pass you some things.
07:35We'll see if you can figure it out here.
07:37This is a charging brick.
07:39And the little thingies are out.
07:41And look at that.
07:43Very nice.
07:45It looks like it's a USB-C.
07:47Correct, yes.
07:49So it is providing like Apple.
07:51It is providing the brick.
07:53That'll be timcook at apple.com.
07:55Now, dude, what do you call this?
07:57I've heard people call it a wall wart.
07:59Yes, that is a term.
08:01Is that really a term?
08:03I'd probably just say charging brick like you.
08:05Alright, Corey.
08:07The next thing inside our lovely case.
08:09I'm just going to flash it at the camera as well.
08:11So our audience are able to check that out.
08:13Now I'm going to pass it over to you, Corey.
08:15What do you think this part is?
08:17This looks like the glasses themselves.
08:19So we pull off each arm there.
08:21Did you just say pull off each arm?
08:23I hope you don't do that.
08:25Well, you just got it.
08:27Well, we'll come back to that.
08:29We'll come back to it in a second.
08:31Yes, that will be that.
08:33Next thing here.
08:35Again, let me show it to the camera.
08:37And I'm actually going to rotate this a little bit here as well.
08:39Corey, what is this part here?
08:41This is the around-the-neck battery apparatus.
08:43Yes.
08:45I believe it's the...
08:47What do you say, bataratus?
08:49Bataratus.
08:51Very nice.
08:53Let's get back to that.
08:55Just a couple more things in the box.
08:57We have a zip compartment, Corey.
08:59And I believe there's a number of cables in here.
09:01Let's see what we got.
09:03USB-C charging cable?
09:05You would hope so.
09:07Although these days, you can't be sure.
09:09And this one does, for those that don't know,
09:11this does is technically a wired headset.
09:13And the fact that a wire does run from the headset
09:15to the bataratus.
09:17The bataratus, yes.
09:19I think they market it as wireless, though.
09:21Yeah, well, I think they're talking about the remote.
09:23Yes.
09:25Okay, here, I'm showing something to the camera,
09:27and I'll pass it over to you, Corey.
09:29What is this part here?
09:31Oh, a cleaning cloth.
09:33Yes, and it seems like a nice quality one, I have to say.
09:35Oh, I see better.
09:37How does it smell?
09:39I did not smell it.
09:41It smells like a cleaning cloth.
09:43Doesn't smell dirty, so that's good.
09:45Okay, this one may be a little trickier.
09:47Let's see.
09:49It's a lanyard.
09:51It's a neckline.
09:53Let me just flash this to the camera here.
09:55I'm trying to guess.
09:57We'll see if you're right or not.
09:59What's this one here?
10:01Oh, it's a USB.
10:03It's a charge cable that runs from the device
10:05to the bataratus.
10:07Yeah, okay, so that's what I think, too.
10:09That is the cable that connects the headset
10:11to the battery.
10:13You can tell because they are 90 degree ends.
10:15Very good.
10:17I'm sure all the technical terms
10:19are coming out now.
10:21Let's see what this one is here.
10:23We'll show this to the camera.
10:25It's really hard to show it to the camera.
10:27Everything seems backwards.
10:29What is this one?
10:31This is a...
10:33I'm trying to find this other end here.
10:35Another USB-C cable.
10:37Much longer.
10:39This one has...
10:41It is C on both sides.
10:43I'm guessing this one is used
10:45to charge the battery part
10:47or you are able
10:49to run the device
10:51directly from the wall.
10:53What?
10:55This longer one may allow you to run
10:57the cable from the glasses to the wall.
10:59Unlimited power.
11:05Giving you a longer one is my guess.
11:07Okay.
11:09Two more things going.
11:11I'm going to let you...
11:13It doesn't show up very well.
11:15I'm going to let you open these ones
11:17and see if you can tell me what's inside.
11:19Something unexpected for me.
11:21First is...
11:23I think I know what it is.
11:25Amazing.
11:27Ear pieces.
11:29Nose pieces.
11:31I wonder if they are different sizes
11:33or if they are...
11:37Yeah, they are.
11:39I think so.
11:41No, maybe they are not.
11:43I don't know. You visually look.
11:45Do they look the same?
11:47No, these are different.
11:49So they give you three different
11:51nose pieces to choose from.
11:53So depending on what nose you are wearing that day
11:55you can have the appropriate nose piece.
11:57And finally, Corey.
11:59What's this one?
12:01Oh, this is the strap for the case.
12:03If you want to wear it around your shoulder.
12:05Messenger style.
12:07Or you can hang it around your neck.
12:09So that's what we're going to do.
12:11Corey, that was the contents.
12:13So let's take a brief break
12:15and then we'll talk about what we think about them.
12:17We have unboxed the box.
12:19We've unboxed the case.
12:21Did we un-case the case?
12:23We un-cased the case and we are on the case
12:25to now decide
12:27how we feel about the build quality.
12:29We haven't turned it on yet.
12:31We want to take a look at both the batteratus.
12:33Is that what we're calling it?
12:35I like it.
12:37Tex officially takes that on.
12:39So we'll take a look at that
12:41and the actual glasses themselves.
12:43The battery part, you know,
12:45I was a little nervous when it was sort of around the neck.
12:47But there's a couple things
12:49I can notice that I think
12:51are probably going to be beneficial.
12:53First of all, it is comfortable wearing.
12:55I didn't have an issue. I was able to move around with it.
12:57But I do believe the two
12:59end pieces that are going to come over
13:01your shoulder more on your chest
13:03is the battery piece.
13:05The neck piece is not.
13:07So what that tells me is heat-wise
13:09I think that the
13:11two battery parts probably heat up a little bit.
13:13But since they're going to be against clothing
13:15I doubt you're going to feel much of it.
13:17That makes sense.
13:19I haven't actually put this on yet.
13:21So we have the USB-C port
13:23which will actually be
13:25kind of facing down when we put this on.
13:27It's kind of horseshoe shaped we're going to put it on.
13:29Now I've got a sweater on
13:31and so it's going actually over my sweater
13:33and it's not actually touching my neck at all.
13:35Surprisingly lightweight actually.
13:37It's lighter than I thought it would be.
13:39Like you say, the batteries are in the bits
13:41that are kind of coming over the shoulders there.
13:43And yeah, they may heat up.
13:45But first impressions, I have to say
13:47it seems really well made
13:49and also seems like it's not too heavy.
13:51So I think it will be comfortable to wear.
13:53That would be nice when we get the cable
13:55connected to feel like what that
13:57then kind of if it starts to pull
13:59or move at all when it's connected to the headset.
14:01But so far, so far so good.
14:03Alright, so how about the headset, Corey?
14:05Alright, so now we've got the headset itself here
14:07and this is pretty similar to
14:09I mean they're big
14:11glasses, right? I mean I wouldn't
14:13consider these, I wouldn't say these
14:15feel like a traditional pair of sunglasses
14:17or reading glasses or anything like that.
14:19Both the arms
14:21feel much thicker and longer
14:23than a typical glasses
14:25and then obviously the part that's
14:27going to go over your eyes is much
14:29thicker as well too.
14:31Build quality to me feels really
14:33good. It feels nice and solid.
14:35Doesn't feel cheap. I don't think
14:37it's metal. I'm pretty sure it's all plastic.
14:39I think metal would probably be too heavy.
14:41You'd have to be happy to do that.
14:43So I'm going to put these on.
14:45Now I want the audience
14:47to put in the comments, Corey.
14:49Oh yeah, I meant to mention that.
14:51Is there an earpiece in?
14:53Why do I keep saying ear?
14:55Do you want to put it on your ear?
14:57The nose piece, actually
14:59I think you have to push it down
15:01and rotate it into place
15:03is my feeling about this.
15:05Which I've just done.
15:07It's kind of weird. The way it shifts, you have to
15:09push it down into place.
15:11I want people to put into the comments please
15:13whether these glasses, whether you think they look
15:15better or worse on Corey
15:17than the Meta glasses. And if you haven't seen
15:19that Meta glasses video, well you'll have to go and watch that.
15:21Better or worse on Corey
15:23Better on the Meta glasses.
15:25So you moved the nose piece
15:27now.
15:29So now we'll put it back in.
15:31Okay, so
15:33I wonder if I can
15:35Don't forget we do have three different
15:37nose pieces. Not that we necessarily want to be changing those right now.
15:39So first impressions
15:41comfortable
15:43around the ear.
15:45The arms are comfortable.
15:47The nose piece, I'm feeling
15:49like a
15:51maybe significant isn't right, but I'm feeling
15:53weight on the nose
15:55and it's feeling a little front heavy.
15:57I'm nervous like looking forward.
15:59I'm looking towards the ground and they're
16:01not falling off, but I have
16:03that feeling like they could.
16:05But they seem very secure
16:07but do feel a little
16:09heavy on the nose. Now that could be
16:11just not the right nose pads for me.
16:13But I'd like to get your impression
16:15putting it up.
16:17They're larger than I expected. I've got to be honest with you
16:19which is a bit of a shame.
16:21I mean, all of these things are kind of thicker than you would
16:23ideally want.
16:25In general, they are just larger.
16:27Now I will point out, Corey, that there is
16:29little holes on the sides here
16:31that you can put the head strap through
16:33and so you can take some of the
16:35weight off the front there with a head strap.
16:37But I don't think we actually got the head strap.
16:39I know, I was just going to say we were on case
16:41and I didn't see a head strap and I was
16:43going to mention I thought it was interesting that there isn't
16:45one. Let me just double check that I didn't
16:47miss it to you. Oh, wait, wait.
16:49Aw. Completely missed it.
16:51Here it is.
16:53What else did you miss?
16:55I'm a bit worried now.
16:57I'll open it up while you do that real quick
16:59because it's in a sealed...
17:01So with the strap then you can strap it
17:03around the back of the head to take some of the weight off which I would
17:05highly recommend doing.
17:07On the inside here we have a couple of screens
17:09as you would expect
17:11and the outside then looks like a regular pair
17:13of sunglasses. The controls are up on the
17:15sides here and they are raised buttons
17:17so they are tactile and you can feel those.
17:19I'm going to go ahead and put this on
17:21and see how it seems to me.
17:23So slide this on. I have had to take my
17:25glasses off in order to put this on
17:27but you can get
17:29prescription lenses in the east side.
17:31Now I would say this might be sitting too high
17:33for me at the moment so I may have to try different
17:35nose pads but it's actually a lot more
17:37comfortable than I was expecting. I think you can
17:39also bend the...
17:41I thought I remember Jeanette saying you can kind of widen them up.
17:43Yes, yes, yes.
17:45This actually feels quite good and obviously
17:47with these things it's usually like you find out
17:49really how comfortable they are after you've worn
17:51them for a couple of hours.
17:53First impressions, this actually feels
17:55better than I was expecting. The weight distribution
17:57is pretty nice. They actually fit my head
17:59really well and I have a small head so
18:01things don't always fit my head
18:03great. But these feel really good and
18:05even without the head strap
18:07it doesn't seem for me
18:09they don't feel like they're going to fall off.
18:11So definitely some of the more comfortable
18:13wearables that I've tried.
18:15So yeah, pretty impressed with the first impressions
18:17there, Corey. I agree.
18:19Good build quality and like you said
18:21it is comfortable. I think
18:23for me it was in my mind that it was going
18:25to fall off. I knew it wasn't going to.
18:27No, no, no. Glasses wear though. There's a difference there.
18:29I think that's absolutely right.
18:31Plus, Corey, we have ascertained in the past that
18:33you do have a very big head. That is very true.
18:35That is all my brains.
18:37Alright, well
18:39stick around because we're going to turn this thing on
18:41and give our first impressions on what the
18:43image is like.
18:45Alright, we have uncased.
18:47We like it. It feels
18:49nice. It's comfortable.
18:51But the true test
18:53is how does it work?
18:55How does it look? Now again, this is quick
18:57first impression. We will do a
18:59more deep dive in a later
19:01video but I would like you to put it on
19:03your head. I want you
19:05to look at something. I can do that.
19:07Let me just talk this through quick,
19:09Corey. I've got the battery pack
19:11plugged into the battery pack. I have
19:13the shorter wire with the two
19:15right angled USB-C's.
19:17And then the shorter wire is plugged into the left
19:19side of the headset.
19:21The headset actually came on automatically when I
19:23connected it to the battery pack.
19:25I'm going to put the battery pack around my neck here.
19:27I'm going to take my glasses off.
19:29I'm going to put the eSight glasses on.
19:31I can hear it talking. Yeah, it's talking
19:33to me at the moment. Now, Corey, I actually
19:35took the liberty in the interim
19:37between our
19:39transition there to put
19:41the head strap on. So now I've got the head strap
19:43on and so that's kind of keeping the
19:45headset nice and tight. Does that make any difference? It does actually, yeah.
19:47It feels really, really secure. And actually,
19:49I had said before I didn't know if the screens were in the right
19:51place but they actually are perfectly
19:53aligned with my eyes which is fantastic.
19:55Now, at the moment it's talking to me
19:57in various
19:59different languages. Hopefully people could hear that.
20:01It's asking me to select a language on the
20:03next screen. I have to hit the next button.
20:05I don't know which the next button is, Corey.
20:07So I'm going to hit the first button on the right side.
20:09We'll see if that's it.
20:11And it was. Okay, now it's saying
20:13choisir la langue. Corey,
20:15can you translate for us, please? Well, I don't know what the
20:17second word was. Language, probably.
20:19So it's saying choose the language.
20:21So I'm going to use just
20:23behind the button that I just pressed, there are
20:25an up and down button here and I'm going
20:27through a list here. And which tempo?
20:29Is that your right? Right tempo, yeah.
20:31I'm assuming the first button I initially
20:33pressed is the select button. So I'm going to press that
20:35now I'm on English.
20:37Now I've got to select display screen.
20:39So I'm going to press the first button.
20:41That's my enter button.
20:43We have both screens on.
20:45Left screen only.
20:47Right screen only.
20:49I was hoping we might also have both
20:51screens off.
20:53Then somebody
20:55is just going to get this.
20:57Accidentally turn both the screens off.
20:59We're going to choose both screens on.
21:01But yeah, if you only have one operational eye, Corey,
21:03then the left
21:05or the right is a good option.
21:07I wonder if that's important to do
21:09because I wonder if it's feeding
21:11the image, if it
21:13combines the two images into one
21:15then. So you want, you know, because your first
21:17instinct might be, well, I'll just leave it on both even if I
21:19can't see out of my right eye.
21:21I think it's more the point is to save battery
21:23life, to be honest. You think so? I believe so, yeah.
21:25But if anybody from eSight is watching, then
21:27please let us know in the comments.
21:29Let's go ahead and hit the enter button on both screens here.
21:31Ooh, I've got a
21:33safety warning, Corey.
21:37It tells me to read and follow all
21:39warnings and instructions that came with the device.
21:41We'll say OK.
21:43It tells us to always be aware of our surroundings.
21:45OK, now I can't
21:47hit the OK button.
21:49Oh wait, I have to actually scroll through here.
21:51OK, fair enough.
21:53And now I'm hoping...
21:55So,
21:57live image.
21:59OK, so
22:01let me look at you, Corey, here.
22:03Oh, you
22:05are a handsome man, aren't you?
22:07I love these glasses.
22:09OK, first impressions,
22:11Corey, they look a little fuzzy, I've got to be honest with you.
22:13OK. Now, I don't have my glasses
22:15on, so do bear that in mind
22:17here. But yeah,
22:19things do look a little fuzzy. This is Luke from the future.
22:21I did decide to try this with my glasses
22:23on, just in case it was me and not
22:25the eSight that was blurry, and indeed it was.
22:27As soon as I put my glasses on and had the eSight
22:29on, everything was a lot clearer.
22:31Back to the video.
22:33The screens are really nice and bright. This is something that I noticed when we
22:35very briefly tried these at CSUN.
22:37The image is really nice and bright, so that's
22:39one of the things I like. But things are looking a little fuzzy.
22:41Now, I'm going to go ahead and zoom in
22:43here. So, the two buttons I was using to move
22:45up and down through the menus, I'm assuming
22:47those are my magnification controls.
22:49I'm going to go ahead and hit the top one of those.
22:51Yeah, and I'm zooming in.
22:53We should have used some of the material
22:55that they provided us. That's true. Maybe that'll
22:57be in the next video, Cole. Let's not get to it.
22:59I gotcha. I'm on 12
23:01so far. And it goes to 24.
23:0324. Holy cow.
23:05So, yeah.
23:07A massive range of
23:09magnification, as usual with the eSight.
23:11Best in class. You can really get up in there.
23:13And I have to say, it seems to me
23:15like there is not as much pixelization
23:17at those higher levels of magnification.
23:19So, I think that's a big benefit here.
23:21It's looking
23:23really clear to me here at 15 times.
23:25I'm looking at a cupboard on the wall.
23:27I'm looking at the handles. It's looking really clear.
23:29And we have a
23:31critical battery warning,
23:33unfortunately. So, just quickly here,
23:35if I press the very first button on the right
23:37side, it will swap between the different modes.
23:39So, we have zoom, contrast,
23:41color filter,
23:43volume, tilt,
23:45which allows us to tilt the camera up and down.
23:47And then back to zoom.
23:49And we can adjust all of those, Corey,
23:51using those two zoom
23:53dials, the ones that navigate us through
23:55the menus. So, it really seems like just those three buttons
23:57is all you need.
23:59There is another button. I'm not sure what that one does yet.
24:01Freeze frame? Possibly.
24:03We'll find out. Hold on.
24:05I just pressed it.
24:07It takes us through to our settings menu.
24:09That's what it does. So, very simple to control
24:11by the looks of it. You don't need that remote control,
24:13Corey. How are the pretty tactile
24:15buttons on there? Very tactile, very easy to
24:17find. And, yeah, if I look
24:19at you, Corey, you look nice and sharp.
24:21But if I look into the distance, things look a little
24:23bit blurbier. So, we will have to
24:25investigate further in another video.
24:27But definitely, build quality-wise
24:29and brightness of the screens is nice.
24:31Controls are nice and easy
24:33to use. So, I'm liking this at the moment,
24:35Corey. We just have to spend a little bit more time with it,
24:37I think, and see what
24:39the pros and cons are after a bit more
24:41use. Makes sense. Alright.
24:45It's time for the wrap-up.
24:47Check out my flow.
24:49Inside go. What do you know?
24:51Video is very slow.
24:53And gosh darn it, it just
24:55makes sense.
24:57Okay. So,
24:59first impressions,
25:01unboxing piece,
25:03we like. Good quality,
25:05good case, all the accessories
25:07you would expect. Except for the remote.
25:09Except for the remote.
25:11Yes. And
25:13hopefully they'll send that to us. And I assume
25:15that wireless remote just
25:17emulates the same buttons, or repetitive
25:19of the same buttons that were on the right-hand
25:21side of it. So, it doesn't keep us from using
25:23the device. Yes. I like the
25:25way it felt. Both the build quality was
25:27good. The way it's comfortable on the head,
25:29you found it to be quite comfortable.
25:31Even more so when you added
25:33the neck or the head
25:35strap as well, too. Yes.
25:37Okay. Yes. My first impressions,
25:39yeah, everything was very positive
25:41except for that bit of blurriness. But Corey,
25:43I need to test whether that's because
25:45I have quite a high glasses
25:47prescription. And so I need to just test whether
25:49that's me or whether that is the
25:51eSight. This is Luke from the future again.
25:53Luke from the past is an idiot. Like I
25:55said before, I already tried this out with my glasses
25:57on and it was indeed a lot clearer.
25:59So, in our follow-up video, which should be
26:01coming two weeks after this one, then
26:03we'll put it through its paces a little bit more
26:05and hopefully have a better answer as to
26:07whether that was just me or whether that is
26:09the eSight. But very well
26:11could be just the fact that I had this
26:13glasses prescription. If you have an eSight
26:15go yourself, if you've gotten hands
26:17on with it either at a convention or
26:19you've purchased one, throw it down in the
26:21comments if your experience, you know, what
26:23your experience has been. Has been nice
26:25and clear, a little blurry. What do you think
26:27of the comfort? We're curious. We wanted
26:29to get this video out quite
26:31quickly for everyone so that they could
26:33at least get first impression of it.
26:35And then, like you said, we'll
26:37dive in deeper and really get a
26:39good idea of how it
26:41stands up maybe to other wearables
26:43as well. Indeed.
26:45So, stick around for the channel. We will be
26:47doing more on the eSight
26:49Go. You can check out our last Tech Connect
26:51Live with Jeanette.
