00:00So Annette here has managed to get this huge team of, well a big massive convoy of people to say to the Welsh Government
00:07you're not listening, and I see on the side actually here it says 4,469,571
00:13signed a petition against the 29-hour speed limit and they're not listening.
00:16They're still not listening, we've engaged them as much as we can.
00:20They've carried out some listening exercises, they say they're revising the guidelines and things will change
00:28but we've not listened to and it's not just the 29-hour issue now.
00:32There's a lot more issues that have come to light since we started the group
00:35but that's the reason the group is actually growing, the support is growing for us.
00:39The Welsh Government really do need to now start taking a look at what's happening
00:43and listening to the people that they actually work for.
00:45Do you feel that the consultation that took place was just a pop-sixing exercise?
00:49The consultation was quite shocking when I actually read through the consultation papers
00:54and I urge absolutely everybody to go and read them, they're all online there.
00:58So many people knew nothing about this and I think this is what put a lot of people off guard
01:03to the fact that they weren't aware and really something as significant as this is going to affect everybody
01:08and whether you're for it or against the 20mph it affects everybody
01:11because the increase in fuel for the deliveries to get into our shops to bring our goods in
01:16is going to be passed on to us. We are paying more money for this.
01:19Anybody whether you're for or against, you're all paying more money for this
01:22and people actually do need to stand up and start realising the effect this is having on the economy across Wales.
01:27By the Welsh Government's own figures, up to £8.9 billion costs the Welsh economy over the next 30 years
01:34because of this implementation. How can they actually justify that when the country is on its knees,
01:39the NHS is on its knees, education is shocking, children's services, adult services, mental health services
01:46they're all breaking up the strain of chronic underfunding
01:49and yet they can find £33 million to bring 20mph in, they can find £120 million or thereabouts
01:54to give us another 36 MPs and politicians in Cardiff.
01:59They are taking off the pensioners' heating allowances and all the rest of it.
02:05How can they justify more politicians?
02:08Find one person in the Sydney Navy right now that would say at least we've got more politicians coming.
02:14More politicians when they're not even listening in the first place.
02:17It's such a shame. We were having a similar problem in London.
02:20We had a consultation on UNESCO, completely and totally ignored.
02:23The figures were tweaked to try and bring the rejections down
02:27and yet it was still a massive majority saying no.
02:30Of course the argument would say they've had an election and we lost
02:35but of course all these schemes seem to be absolute nonsense.
02:38They seem to be targeting people to get them out of their cars completely.
02:41Like a 20mph speed limit. It's very hard to adhere to a 20mph speed limit.
02:45It's actually written into our Welsh Government tourism transport plan
02:51that they are trying to shift people from car use to hybrid car use.
02:54Well the thing is if you get 3 points, 6 points, 9 points, 12 points, you've lost your licence.
02:58We can't have chauffeur driven cars. If we lose our licence, we lose our jobs, we lose our homes.
03:03We aren't in the position that other people are in Welsh Government
03:06that can actually have a chauffeur driven car to take them to work.
03:09I think the fallacy argument that this is helping the environment
03:12when, as you say, people are driving in first and second gear.
03:15Again, the Welsh Government has published some results
03:18where they've been monitoring the air quality in 20mph zones and there has been no improvement.
03:23They keep saying that accidents and serious injuries are down in 20mph zones.
03:27If you look at the 20mph and 30mph zones themselves in isolation, yes they are.
03:33But if you look at the figures overall on accidents and deaths overall on all road speeds,
03:37their figures are showing there's an increase.
03:40Do you know what, I was wondering that.
03:42Are they looking at why this is happening?
03:44I think the idea that people say, OK, that's great, let's all do 20mph.
03:49The reality is people get fed up and they do dangerous overtaking manoeuvres
03:53and that's where you have problems.
03:54It's all very much, oh they shouldn't be doing more than 20mph.
03:57The simple fact is they're making rules based on what they want people to do
04:00rather than what people actually do.
04:02People don't want to sit there at 20mph, especially at two o'clock in the morning.
04:09Roads are completely empty.
04:11I get this outside schools. Outside schools, 100%.
04:14It makes sense, 20mph, nobody wants some idiot driving at 40mph past some kids at school.
04:19Totally understand that.
04:20But there are some of these really rural roads, 20mph in the middle of the night.
04:24It's absolutely nonsense.
04:25I think it's designed to get rid of your car, get rid of your licence.
04:30Well done for doing what you're doing.
04:34A big cheer for you guys for coming up and supporting.
04:37Can we just have a quick look at that banner for the video as well?
04:40Just so you can get it.
04:42Let's run it out.
04:50The point is, politicians need to start listening.
04:55Why do we need more and more and more and more politicians?
04:57Look at that, 169,571 people have said no.
05:0130mph is quite a sensible speed, really.
05:04It's not a ridiculous speed, it's quite sensible.
05:0820mph is just to take your licence away.
05:11It just seems a persecution of the public.
