00:00Investment approvals this year hit over a trillion pesos thus far,
00:04while two regional wage boards have approved increases in the daily minimum wage for workers.
00:10These and more stories in tonight's business news wrap-up by Jomsbalagan.
00:17The Banco Central ng Pilipinas or BSP reported the personal remittances from overseas Filipino
00:22workers went up 3.2% in July this year. This amounted to $3.43 billion dollars
00:28from $3.32 billion dollars in the same month last year.
00:32The Metropolitan Water Works and Sewerage System Regulatory Office or MWSSRO has approved the
00:38Foreign Currency Differential Adjustments or FCDA of concessionaries. As a result,
00:44the Manila Water customers will have to bear additional charges. The basic charge for Manila
00:49Water has increased 86 centavos per cubic meter. Consequently, the bills of users consuming 20 to
00:5530 cubic meters will rise by between 8 to 16 pesos more. Meanwhile, Manila will implement a
01:00reduced charge of 29 centavos per cubic meter. The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity
01:07Boards of Region IV-A or Calabarzon and Region VII or Central Visayas have approved the increase
01:13in the daily minimum wage raise of workers. The Department of Labor and Employment or DOLE said
01:18the daily wage adjustment in Calabarzon and Central Visayas ranges from 21 pesos to 75 centavos
01:25and 33 pesos to 43 centavos, respectively. The wage hike in Calabarzon will take effect
01:30on September 30 while the wage hike in Central Visayas goes in effect on October 2.
01:36The Board of Investments has approved 1.35 trillion pesos worth of investments so far
01:41this year. This is 82 percent higher than the 741.98 billion pesos in approved investments
