00:00A big name in London's independent film scene is getting a Taiwanese takeover.
00:06The Garden Cinema is only in its third year and it's already featuring Taiwanese films
00:11for a second time.
00:13In cooperation with Taiwan's London representative office, it's putting on the classics, including
00:18some from more recent years.
00:21We think by providing the classic groundwork, we then bring the audience with us and we're
00:27able to put on some more lesser-known names, lesser-known films as well, and so it's really
00:32gratifying to see that the sales for those films have been good as well.
00:36These are films that are serious but accessible, and that say something about Taiwan today.
00:42The organizers are eager to share these films, which have long been favorites among Taiwanese
00:46connoisseurs, to new audiences.
00:49And it won't just be films.
01:06A famed icon of Taiwanese arthouse film will also be on hand to meet fans, including those
01:11just getting to know the world of Taiwanese cinema.
01:36The month of screenings aims to show what Taiwan's great artists can do with a camera,
01:41and shed insight into a place that has stories that resonate across the world.
01:46Howard Zhang, John Ventriest, and Jonathan Kaplan for Taiwan Plus.
