00:00On pole it's Charles Leclerc, it's all eyes to the lights and foot to the floor as we go racing in Baku
00:06and it's a good start from Leclerc who holds the lead, that lock-up from Perez though manages to get it turned in
00:12will go side by side with the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz as they now approach the left-hander of Turn 2
00:17it's Perez who's going to get the upper hand here and gets the move through on Carlos Sainz
00:22a good move though from Charles Leclerc to hold on to the lead
00:25Lance Stroll, we saw him very briefly in the background one of the shots on lap 1
00:29just getting all out of sorts with a puncture and he's going to have to come into the pit lane
00:33and you can see there the sparks flying but look at this, down the main straight we've got an RB
00:38we've got the McLaren of Lando Norris and we've got Nico Hülkenberg in the Haas
00:42it's Norris who cuts down the inside and manages to get in front of the RB
00:47the front-running RB is Tsunoda, then comes Norris, then comes Hülkenberg, then it's Ricciardo
00:52Riding on board with Lando Norris down into Turn 1, Yuki Tsunoda on the inside
00:57allows Tsunoda the inside line, that'll give Norris better traction off the exit
01:02Tsunoda tries to defend but lovely driving from Norris and Tsunoda down the inside
01:07for the McLaren driver, picked off a position up to 11th
01:10Here's a replay of the start, so in terms of the launch if you look at the bottom of the screen there
01:15Leclerc and Sainz on the clean side got a better launch, it was actually Perez I think who made
01:19an excellent getaway, there we see Verstappen and Russell side by side and when they get down to
01:24Turn 2, I think there Verstappen was fully committed, Russell knew that there was no point really
01:31fighting it but by giving Verstappen a wide berth he ended up compromising his exit and actually had
01:37Alonso all over the back of him, looking on board here with Verstappen, pretty good launch it has to
01:42be said from the dirty side of the grid, Perez had a bit of a lock-up, Verstappen quite close
01:47but look I think at this point here you can see you know he went for it and let's not forget these
01:54two made contact last year, it's the other way around on that occasion and so they got
01:59through cleanly on this time, this was a stroll puncture Harry, yeah so notice this right in the
02:03back of the picture right down the inside, ah squeezed and that was what gave him the
02:08puncture against the RB, is that the RB of Yuki Tsunoda, Tsunoda closed the door on me
02:14A bit of a moment for Oliver Behrmann, that would have cost him time coming through 15, here comes
02:20Lando Norris then to get up into the points down the inside, Norris through on Behrmann and up into
02:2710th, started this race down in 15th and now finds his way into the points paying positions, Lando
02:34Norris has tried to play his part with the team orders at McLaren but Perez should be able to
02:40steam on by, there it is picture in picture with Piastri, looks like a fairly clean slot, the DRS
02:46set line will come for Sergio Perez who moves to the inside, where is Piastri going to come out,
02:51you see him there feeding through the left-hander as Perez does, Piastri should come out ahead of
02:57Sergio Perez but crucially Piastri is going to be on much colder tires, Perez up to speed, up to
03:04temperature, the fight is on, Albon in third but not really in this fight, then comes the McLaren
03:09of Oscar Piastri as science comes into the pits, can Sergio Perez then close right on to the back,
03:15well Piastri not at this stage, it's Piastri who gets more of the benefit with the tow and the DRS
03:20is able to get down the inside of Alex Albon and gives himself a little bit of breathing room,
03:26let's have another look at this then, this is Lewis Hamilton making his way past the Alpine
03:34of Esteban Ocon further back and well earlier in the race, Lewis Hamilton surpassed 100,000
03:41kilometers in Formula One, that's two and a half times around the world, here comes the board Harry,
03:47Bosch hit the button, this is close, closing up to the back of Charles Leclerc for the lead of this race,
03:52Piastri down the inside, late on the brakes, makes the move stick, can Leclerc fight back, Piastri
03:59tries to defend but Leclerc holds that inside line but he can't go late on the brakes enough
04:04and Piastri takes the lead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, can he break away in the middle sector of
04:10the lap or will Leclerc do the reverse, let's have a look at this replay, look at how far back,
04:14I don't think Leclerc expected him to come there because he just stayed wide, stayed on the racing
04:19line, he made no attempt to defend it, Piastri is probably two car lengths behind the rear diffuser
04:25off that Ferrari and just lunged down the inside, this was good, fair and robust defense
04:32into two, Leclerc bailed out of it, Verstappen has, here comes Verstappen with the DRS, moves to the right
04:39then turns to the left, not quite enough room there but Verstappen trying to force Norris
04:44into a mistake, Norris not having any of it, Piastri knows he's closer on this time, Piastri took the
04:50lead with a late dive down the inside on the brakes, can Leclerc return the favor, Piastri
04:55feels like he needs to defend this time around, forces Leclerc to the outside, that'll give Leclerc
05:00more speed through the corners, he tries to get on the power first but no, has to tuck in again,
05:06dash towards turn one, lap 32 of 51 becoming lap 33, can Leclerc close up, Piastri has to defend,
05:14Leclerc almost into the back of the McLaren, slams on the brakes, takes the wider line, will he do
05:19enough to get up the inside, Piastri sees him coming, defends that line, McLaren keeping in
05:26front of the Ferrari by an absolute whisker, and George Russell managing to get through on Max
05:33Verstappen, as we just saw rubbing salt into the wounds of Max Verstappen, who well hasn't had a
05:39win since back, we've got to go back to Spain, 13.7 seconds between the McLaren man and the
05:46world championship leader Max Verstappen, as once again we look from the rear wing of Oscar
05:52Piastri's car, of the rear engine cover, copy keep it up, at least finish ahead of his championship
06:00rival this weekend, as we just see him going side by side down into turn one, that's the
06:06Haas of Olly Behrman and the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, who finally gets through on Behrman,
06:13had to force the effort, but Hamilton up into 12th, Behrman now down to 13th, here's Lando Norris
06:19on board the McLaren, trying to get past his championship rival, both with weekends they
06:25might not want to forget, Norris through on Verstappen, on his championship rival, what a
06:31comeback for Lando Norris, is the writing on the wall for Charles Leclerc, who will defend for as
06:37long as he can, Perez in the red ball, moves to the outside, forces his way around, but Leclerc's not
06:43having any of it, forces Perez out wide, and that makes Sainz through on Perez, teamwork makes the
06:50dream work for Ferrari, and Sainz gets up into the podium places, but now Perez, and there's contact
06:59between Perez and Sainz into the wall, disaster for Ferrari and Red Bull, it all happens in the
07:06blink of an eye, but that is a massive, massive shift in this race, in the dying stages, Sainz and Perez
07:15out, here we go, this is first of all Sergio Perez in the slipstream, behind Charles Leclerc, he got
07:22a very, very good run, the Sauber got out of the way, so Leclerc didn't have that slipstream, Perez
07:26got in front, Leclerc came back at him, down the inside, no contact there, but Perez lost momentum,
07:32Sainz got in front, now at this point here, Sainz had a sniff around the outside of Perez,
07:38ended up on the dirty part of the track on the outside, now watch, does he move over on the left,
07:44I feel like he moves slightly left, and Perez moves slightly right, just looking from the
07:48helicopter, we'll need to slow it down, maybe on the skypad later, but it did feel like the two
07:55cars, you have to feel slightly for Sergio Perez in that occasion, let's watch it here, so here's
08:11Sainz, look to the one right, what happened there, what happened, are you okay, yeah, but I don't get it
08:21as the chequered flag will wait for Oscar Piastri, who will stand on the top step here in Baku, Oscar
