Traditional games and community sports across the diverse ethnic landscape of Malaysia are put under the spotlight again with the Malaysian Games Festival @ Kuala Lumpur 2024 in full swing.

00:00Traditional games and community sports are put under the spotlight again
00:06at the 9th edition of the Malaysian Games Festival.
00:10The four-day festival, which will end on Monday, features plank walking,
00:16Batu Seremban,
00:20archery,
00:23blowpipe events,
00:26a slingshot competition and many more.
00:31The spinning top competition, kabaddi,
00:34pineng cinggai parade, lion dance and Chinese chess
00:37are also some of the highlights of the event.
00:40There is also a rope pulling contest,
00:43with the participation of teams from Brunei, Taiwan and Singapore,
00:47as well as 60 local Malaysian clubs.
00:56The event also showcases exhibitions, product sales and games
01:01from Sabah, Sarawak and the indigenous community.
01:04The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry said many social activities in the past
01:09had started with games,
01:11but children nowadays are less inclined towards outdoor activities.
01:26The festival is set to draw some 150,000 people,
01:47bringing together schools, businesses, groups and NGOs
01:51and bridging the gap between them.
01:53The organisers said through the event,
01:55they will continue to promote communication among the multiracial people of Malaysia
