00:31Zoe had been jealous when she'd seen Blaine with Madison earlier that day,

00:36but she was doing her best to hide her jealousy from Blaine. She laughed dryly.

15:31When Blaine asked Zoe to kiss him goodbye, she immediately blushed in embarrassment.

19:28have service, which would be normal in a disaster zone. After spending the evening with Max,

19:34Zoe left the hospital and went home. As soon as she entered the house, she turned on the TV

19:41and switched to a cable news channel. They were still reporting around the clock about

19:46the tragedy in Mexico. Zoe involuntarily shuddered as she listened. At 2.00 this afternoon,

19:54an aftershock with a magnitude of 4.9 occurred in Mexico City. This is the fifth aftershock

20:58better. Zoe crawled into bed, but even though she barely slept the night before, Zoe found herself

22:03It took Zoe a long moment to realize the sound she suddenly heard. Was her cell phone ringing?

22:09Was she dreaming? No, it was definitely ringing. Zoe sat up and fumbled for her phone under the

22:16pillow, but by the time she found it, the ringing had stopped. Damn it! Zoe anxiously cursed to

22:23herself. She swiped through the missed call log. Her fingers were still trembling as they landed

22:29on the screen. She had a call from an unknown number, but the call had come from a Mexico City

22:35area code. Blaine had called. Zoe quickly called back and anxiously waited for him to pick up.

22:42Zoe let out a breath. She didn't know she'd been holding in a frustrated puff when the cold

22:48mechanical voice answered the phone. Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily out of service.

22:56Please hang up and try again later. Beep, beep, beep. Zoe slammed her hand down on the pillow.

23:03No, no, no. She couldn't have missed Blaine's call. She quickly hung up the phone and dialed again.

23:10This time the phone rang and rang, but no one picked up. Zoe was about to hang up in despair

23:15when suddenly a deep magnetic voice filled her ears. It's me. All of Zoe's anxiety disappeared

24:00before he returned to camp. I tried calling you, but it said your cell phone wasn't in service.

24:07Zoe softly said as she snuggled under the covers to talk to him, her relief palpable. After hearing

24:14his voice, her heart stopped racing and she even found herself smiling. There's no cell service.

24:22All cell towers are down and only emergency calls are routed through. Blaine explained. Zoe was

24:29surprised. How did you call me without a signal? She asked. Blaine chuckled softly. Of course I have

24:37my ways. Zoe couldn't help but laugh too before asking him, how are things going there? Not good.

24:46Blaine answered her without thinking. Zoe frowned and asked anxiously, why? Because you're not here.

24:54His deep voice settled over Zoe like a warm blanket and his words made her feel like she

25:00was floating on a cloud. She opened her mouth to try to speak, but no words came out. I'm kidding.

25:08Don't get all mushy on me. Blaine's teasing voice instantly pulled Zoe back to reality.

25:15Zoe went from floating on a cloud to crashing back down to earth. She rolled her eyes even

25:20though he couldn't see her. Since when did you become so fond of joking? Blaine ignored her

28:33A call? Our traffic still hasn't cleared. Where did you go to make this call? How did you get

28:39there? Just outside this district, and I walked. It was only a couple of miles away. Blaine replied

28:46blandly, obviously unwilling to share the details of his trip with Josie. A couple of miles? Seriously,

28:53dude, it's pitch black outside with rubble everywhere, and you were in surgery for hours.

28:59Josie sat up and watched Blaine as he took off his boots and then used his canteen to wet a towel and

29:05wash his face. Josie smiled knowingly. Dr. Dexter, I think you went on this late night jaunt of yours

29:13to call Zoe. Am I right? I heard you ask the locals several times today if they knew of anywhere

29:21that had phone service. Look at you, so devoted. Blaine glanced at Jo's coldly, then threw the wet

29:29towel in his hand at Josie's gossipy face when he burst out laughing. It's none of your business.

29:36Go back to sleep. Josie grabbed the towel from his face and smiled even more arrogantly.

29:42Oh, now I know I'm right. Come on, admit it. You've got a bad for that woman. It's so obvious.

29:50But Blaine just got into his sleeping bag, turned off the lantern, and ignored the still laughing
