00:04pretty much going to be talking about sim spoofing

00:06how dangerous is it how is done can you protect yourself against it and how do

00:12you know if you've been sim spoofed now I know you're seeing me with the bandana

00:16yes mainly because that hood was hot so the bandana was a better option to keep

00:21me cool alright so let's get into this shall we now let me explain more about

00:26sim spoofing in itself first of all you have your SIM cards your SIM cards

00:31contain all your information from your phone number MAC address everything so

00:36pretty much what sim spoofing is is taking the information from one SIM card

00:40and activating it on another one that is sim spoofing so when you lose a phone it

00:47goes through the same process hey I lost my phone so I need everything transferred

00:51over to this phone because I lost it it goes through that same process and

00:56exploits it so now any text messages that come in ie two-factor authentication

01:02you will pretty much have that going to the hacker this is the reason why I

01:07don't actually put my phone number out there see this was the reason why a lot

01:12of youtubers actually got hacked back in the day so sim spoofing can be very easy

01:18for a hacker to do I mean it's really simple it's using social engineering so

01:22I'm calling your phone provider right now right I'm saying hey my name is John

01:29Smith my phone number is 777-7777 right I lost my phone I got a new phone I need

01:37you to transfer the information over to me and now to kind of rush you on this a

01:42little bit I'm gonna play a noise in the background let's say a baby crying

01:46and something you don't want to hear once again this operates off social

01:49engineering so because I'm social engineering you I want you I want to

01:54control your interaction now you're hearing this baby crying you're gonna

01:57get annoyed you're gonna say okay look I need to hurry up and get this person off

02:01the phone as fast as possible what's your name what's your phone number I

02:04gave that already perfect now I'm going to just get this done so now your

02:09information is transferred over to my phone so now all I gotta do is try to

02:12log into your social media as your YouTube your bank accounts really

02:17anything and say forgot password reset the password now I have all of your

02:22accounts I have everything that you ever loved in the palm of my hands and you

02:27won't know that your sim spoofed until you try to call somebody or wonder why

02:31you don't get any text which can take hours or days and guess what it's done

02:36all the time see social engineering is a powerful tool for hackers because when

02:42we social engineer people we're understanding them is high amounts of

02:46empathy we're understanding what they're going through we understand how to

02:50control the conversation how to manipulate certain environments to our

02:54benefits that's what the thing is about hackers so in that sense you're all your

03:02accounts are sim spoofed now you're gonna try to get them back now to get

03:06your phone number correct then to get all your accounts back could take weeks

03:11and during that time someone's on Facebook posting your news or whatever

03:15I'm private messages that you had I'm saying something racist or saying

03:20something homophobic saying something you know anything bad and get you banned

03:24or can have your family members cussing you out a lot of times people just out

03:28of nowhere have their family members call them cussing at them they're

03:32questioning why they're showing them all the posts and that's how the person

03:35knows that they got hacked it's crazy right but yep that is one of the most

03:40powerful tools hackers possess hack the planet Joker
