00:00Called by name, Jesus said to her, Mary.
00:05She turned towards him and cried out in Aramaic, Rabboni.
00:10John 20 verse 16 Advertisers know that the most attention-grabbing
00:15word we react to is our own names.
00:18That's why so many junk emails and adverts on social media use our names.
00:23They want to grab our attention.
00:26Whether those sort of ads work for you or not, having our names used by someone who
00:30doesn't actually know us is a bit empty.
00:33It's very different when a friend or loved one says our name.
00:37Mary Magdalene had her attention grabbed at Jesus' empty tomb when he spoke her name.
00:43John 20 verse 16 With that single word, she suddenly realized
00:48that the man in front of her was the teacher she loved and followed.
00:52The way he spoke her name, as someone who knew and loved her, was enough to convince
00:57her that her savior was back from the dead.
01:00Jesus told Mary that he would go back to his father, but he also told his followers that
01:05he would not leave them alone.
01:07John 14 verse 15-18 Now God has sent the Holy Spirit to live in
01:12all his children Acts 2 verse 1-13 God's story doesn't change.
01:18Jesus knows and loves us just as he did Mary and his followers.
01:23He gives us his spirit and calls us by name.
01:27He knows all those he loves.
01:30John 10 verse 14-15 By Amy Boucher Pye
01:35To Pray About Lord, thank you for knowing me by name.
01:39I believe that you love me, so draw me closer to you each day.
01:44The God who created the whole world also made you, and he calls you by name.
