Sol Campbell said Tottenham fans still chant derogatory things about him despite leaving 25 years ago
Transcript
00:00I've had that before, with my move from Tottenham to Arsenal.
00:04They're still singing about things about me in the stands.
00:07I left 25 years ago.
00:09Okay, for me, it probably was anger,
00:12but then I think it's morphed into racism where I continue for no reason.
00:17Some kids who are 18 years old are chanting and singing horrendous things about me,
00:23and they weren't even born.
00:25Sometimes they don't even know what they're singing about.
00:27It's like, maybe they think it's cool to sing horrible, heinous things about,
00:32you know, wishing you're dead or whatever, or racist things.
00:35We should find a way of, you know, that is the fault.
00:39Why is the fault always default position racism?
00:44Why? That has to change.
00:46You know, you can support your club.
00:48You can do this.
00:48You can do that.
00:49You can put off the other players or whatever.
00:52But why does it have to default always to racism?
00:56It shouldn't be that way.
00:57So obviously education comes into it.
00:59But then the football club has to do something about it as well.
01:02They've got to be, you know, saying and talking and having cinemas and things like that
01:07to educate, you know, with the leaders of the supported clubs.
01:11The leaders of the supported clubs, they control.
01:13They're very powerful guys in football clubs when it comes to fans.
01:18They need to kind of come on board.
01:20Not like we're just some different company.
01:22We can do whatever the hell we want.
01:25That has to change as well.
01:27That communication with the big guys, with part of the ultra fans or whatever.
01:32Every club's got some type of ultra fans within them.
01:35So that discussion needs to happen at a higher level.
01:38We say, hey, you know, we've got to move on here.
01:41We've got to move on.
01:42That's like, you know, we're still in a time capsule of like, you know, 80s, you know, beyond.
01:49Let's move on now.
01:5021st century, let's move on.
01:52That story has to end.
01:53We have to close that book and open a new book for the future of football.
