00:00It's finally time for Venom to meet his maker.
00:04Venom The Last Dance will feature a villain more powerful than Eddie Brock could have
00:07possibly imagined.
00:09The marketing material for Venom The Last Dance has already teased one of Marvel's most
00:13powerful villains, and the movie's final trailer fully confirms that he is indeed coming.
00:18Null is making his first live-action appearance ever, threatening Earth in general, but Venom
00:23in particular.
00:24This is a significant villain upgrade for the Venom franchise.
00:27The first two movies' major antagonists, Riot and Carnage, are effectively just Venom's
00:32fellow symbiotes, with different power sets.
00:35Meanwhile, Null is cut from an entirely different cloth.
00:38As Venom fearfully tells Eddie Brock in the trailer, Null is the one who created the symbiotes
00:43in the first place.
00:44What's his name, then?
00:47Null.
00:48Null!
00:49So, what exactly makes Null so absurdly powerful in the comics, and how might he translate
00:55to live-action?
00:56Here's a closer look at the god of symbiotes and the significant threat he poses.
01:00The final trailer for Venom The Last Dance provides plenty of clues about Null's sudden
01:05interest in planet Earth.
01:06Juno Temple's scientist character says that all the symbiotes we've seen so far have been
01:11running from something, and Venom tells Eddie that Null needs something from them.
01:15Patrick Mulligan even states that Venom's bond with Eddie will end everything.
01:19That's a lot of foreshadowing, especially combined with the film's title and its logline
01:24Till death do they part.
01:26The trailer does Null justice by immediately associating him with death and destruction.
01:31In the comics, he starts out as a slumbering god of darkness who starts making moves after
01:35a group of powerful celestials find him.
01:38He can control the Living Abyss, which is effectively a physical manifestation of darkness
01:43created to engulf light and life itself.
01:46Naturally, he uses this power to create a vast army of symbiotes that can take over
01:50just about anyone.
01:52Null is strong enough to be the King in Black, the cosmic darkness deity of the entire multiverse,
01:57but that's not quite metal enough for him.
01:59Instead, he simply wants to destroy everything that's not part of his primordial void, and
02:04makes spirited attempts to do so whenever possible.
02:07To give a specific example of the danger Null poses, the very first symbiote he creates
02:12is All Black the Necrosword, a blade infused with the celestial's powers.
02:16Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have already received a taste of the All Black
02:20in Thor, Love, and Thunder, in which Gorr the God Butcher wields it on his quest to
02:24kill all the deities.
02:26If the live-action version of Null wields even a fraction of the original's powers,
02:31then Eddie and Venom are in for the fight of a lifetime.
02:35Eddie, I'm with you to the end."
02:38Null is an existential threat, and the new trailer strongly suggests that he has massively
02:43destructive plans, but it remains to be seen just how hands-on he is in the film.
02:48The trailer only shows him in the middle of a vast, gooey place that's likely the film's
02:53version of the symbiote Hivemind, sending monstrous minions after Venom instead of personally
02:58confronting him.
02:59Precisely how much we'll actually see the entire trilogy's overarching big bad is entirely
03:04up in the air, as if the question of how the protagonist could possibly hope to defeat
03:08an entity as strong as Null if he does decide to enter the battlefield.
03:12Null is also a considerably dark villain.
03:15Darkness is his very job description, after all.
03:18As several scenes in the trailer make it clear that The Last Dance won't shy away from
03:21Venom's sense of humor, this raises the question of whether the movie can juggle the trilogy's
03:26signature comedy with a brutal antagonist like Null.
03:29Venom, let there be carnage, may have combined symbiote goofiness with a super-powered serial
03:34killer straight out of a horror movie, but Carnage is certainly no Null.
03:39Since Null is one of the strongest villains who haven't appeared in a Marvel movie before,
03:43fans will no doubt want to see him as much as possible in Venom The Last Dance.
03:48Still, only upon the movie's premiere on October 25th, 2024 will we know whether it treats
03:53the King in Black as a prominent scene-stealer or a glorified cameo.
