German authorities in the eastern city of Dresden begun demolishing what remains of the collapsed Carola bridge on Friday (Sept 13) from the River Elbe.

On Wednesday (Sept 11) the bridge, which is used by pedestrians, cyclists and runs an hourly tram service, collapsed in the early hours of the morning.

00:20According to the fire brigade, a section around 100 meters long fell into the river Elbe and
00:25is blocking the river channel.
00:27The bridge was empty at the time and there was no injuries.
00:31Authorities are rushing to clear what remains of the bridge from the river as the city is
00:35expecting heavy rainfall and flooding over the next few days.
00:40An investigation into the cause of the collapse is expected to take several days.
