00:002024 marks the anniversary of the World Naked Bike Ride in Tarkaka.
00:14To mark this special anniversary, the program departed from the usual one-day ride to an
00:19entire weekend celebration for participants and supporters alike.
00:26The weekend started off with a walk on the beach, where between 50 and 60 participants
00:31had a walk along one of the Golden Bay beaches, followed by a leisurely walk through a forest
00:37surrounded by many different varieties of trees.
00:42The day was overcast, but warm allowing the group to be as natural as could be in this
00:46beautiful natural environment.
01:46While walking along the beach, our attention was drawn to the water, where kingfish were
02:03breaking the surface as they hunted their prey in the shallows.
02:33As the day started to clear, and the temperature started to rise, it was good to be able to
02:42retreat to the bush and the shade provided by the forest canopy.
02:48The cicadas and other forest insects played a background tune for us as we walked along.
02:53Soon, in the cover of the trees, we were entertained by fantails that dropped ever lower in the
02:59branches, until they were so close that you could almost reach out and touch them.
03:27After we returned to our transport, we regrouped at the Mussel Inn for a lunch.
03:33As is the custom among people that see clothes as something to wear in adverse weather, many
03:38of the group opted to dine without the need for outerwear.
03:43As we were eating, we were joined by an inquisitive Weka, who managed to find a few of the crumbs
03:48that fell from the table.
