A nonprofit thought MacKenzie Scott’s $10 million donation was a phishing scam

Billionaire MacKenzie Scott’s donation to Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs (ACE) was “completely out of the blue.”

00:18This is the largest gift that the Georgia-based organization has ever received.

00:22Launched in 2000, the non-profit offers loans and advisory services to new businesses in Georgia,

00:27focusing on helping women, people of color, and people with low to moderate incomes.

00:31Scott previously donated $5 million to the organization in 2020.

00:35Scott is the billionaire ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos,

00:38and has made it her mission to offload much of the fortune she gained from their 2019 divorce.

00:43As of March, Scott had donated $17.3 billion to more than 2,300 non-profit organizations,

00:49and is still worth an estimated $34 billion according to Forbes.
