00:00Oh, cartoons at this hour, must we?
00:02You kidding? It's a classic!
00:05Welcome to Miss Mojo, and today we'll be looking at the best
00:08small-screen continuations of beloved animated films.
00:11So, let's get to the weaponry.
00:13Oh, it's loaded.
00:16Number 10, Aladdin
00:18Aladdin, opening trade with Korkistan is a very important assignment.
00:23Oh, I won't let you down, Jasmine. Remember, you and I are going to be together forever.
00:281989 ushered in a new era for Walt Disney feature animation,
00:32eventually dubbed the Disney Renaissance.
00:34After years of misfires, Disney had finally found success once more,
00:38and were dominating their field.
00:40Two of their era's princess-focused films even found new life on the small screen,
00:45The Little Mermaid, with a prequel series focusing on Ariel as a young mermaid,
00:49and Aladdin, which served as a follow-up to the direct-to-video film The Return of Jafar.
00:55What? I'm trying to be practical!
00:58We've got a genie with phenomenal cosmic power!
01:02Although in the original film, Aladdin tells Jasmine how he'll show her the world,
01:07Aladdin, the series, actually primarily takes place in Agrabah.
01:11You're doing great, sweetie, you just need to work on your delivery a little bit.
01:15Nonetheless, the Arabian Kingdom serves as the perfect backdrop
01:19for three seasons' worth of fun adventures and interesting new characters.
01:23I figured that my evil twin wasn't the type who would ever free a genie.
01:27That's my owl.
01:299. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
01:32Christopher Robin, are you sure heroes always wear white scarves?
01:37They do in the movies, Pooh Bear.
01:40A.A. Milne's stories about Christopher Robin and his living plush toys
01:44have been entertaining children for generations,
01:46and in 1988, those stories were given new life in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
01:51The TV adaptation was the first time Disney had based a series off of one of their own films,
01:57in this case the 1977 film The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh,
02:01and the animated featurettes from which it was drawn.
02:04The show was just as well-received as its beloved predecessors,
02:07with many praising its compassionate characters and charming storylines.
02:12Isn't this working out nicely?
02:15Pooh and his pals in the Hundred Acre Woods are time-honored classics for good reason.
02:20It's hard not to love them, and this version of their story undeniably does them justice.
02:25Could we skip dinner and have breakfast instead?
02:30Silly old bear.
02:338. The Lion Guard
02:35Back off!
02:36You back off, Kion!
02:38That's my tree!
02:39Your tree?
02:40I found it first!
02:41So step aside!
02:42No way!
02:43Kion may not be on his way to becoming king, but he's certainly working on his roar.
02:48This series, which acts as a midquel to the direct-to-video movie The Lion King 2,
02:53Simba's Pride, follows Simba's cub, Kion, who has recently learned that he is to be
02:58the head of the Lion Guard and protect the Pride Lands alongside his friends.
03:02Okay, Lion Guard, let's move out.
03:05Kion, wait!
03:07Can you and the Guard divert the eland away from the business?
03:10Huh?
03:11I guess we could.
03:13Although it was initially made for a preschool audience,
03:16it has some surprisingly dark episodes, which teach kids about the Circle of Life.
03:21I'm glad to have seen the roar return to the Tree of Life.
03:27Me too.
03:28I would have liked to see your healing completed, but at least I know you're here.
03:33The series also added onto established Lion King lore in new and interesting ways,
03:38finally showing fans how Scar got his scar,
03:41and giving sequel characters like Kiara and Kovu more screen time.
03:46Everyone, let's go.
03:48To the Pride Lands and…
03:49LION GUARD DEFEND!
03:52Number 7.
03:53Tailspin
03:54That was quite an entrance, little britches.
03:58Hey, you're a pilot!
03:59Last I checked.
04:01Are ya good?
04:03The best, kid.
04:04Numero uno.
04:05Nowadays, people likely don't think twice about Tailspin,
04:09easily accepting the show as one of the many film-based series to be part of the Disney
04:13afternoon block.
04:14If you do stop to think about the show, however,
04:16you may come to realise it's one of the strangest spin-offs Disney has ever made.
04:20In it, the characters of The Jungle Book are now anthropomorphic,
04:24wearing clothes and flying planes.
04:26We aren't gonna make it!
04:28Pull up, pull up!
04:30Now just hold on.
04:32Old Blue's not out of tricks yet.
04:38Mowgli is nowhere to be seen, and the characters make references to
04:41the Great War happening decades prior.
04:44Why'd you let him live, boss?
04:47Because I want them to tell Shere Khan what we took.
04:51Let him worry.
04:52Interestingly, Tailspin's huge departure from its source material didn't seem to
04:56hinder its popularity at all.
04:58The show easily held its own as a fun and exciting adventure series.
05:02It didn't matter where the characters were from.
05:04Well, so much for the treasure.
05:07Yeah, but I got us out of there alive, and that's what counts.
05:11Number six, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius.
05:15Carl, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful experiment.
05:23If you didn't know that the Jimmy Neutron series was based on a film,
05:26or thought that the film came after the series, don't worry, you're not alone.
05:30The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius,
05:32is one of the few TV spin-offs that was actually more well-known than its predecessor.
05:38Plus, if it was a dream, could I do this?
05:42If you, your brain's all wet and stretchy.
05:45That's my tongue.
05:46Look out, I'm gonna taste pie with that.
05:51The show, which followed the adventures of boy genius Jimmy and his two friends,
05:55Carl and Sheen, lasted three full seasons,
05:57and earned two Kids' Choice Awards nominations for favorite cartoon.
06:02We're the Three Amigops.
06:03The Three Amigops?
06:05Yeah, well, you see, I was making us name tags, and I accidentally added a P to amigos, so...
06:10Pardon me, but my life is ending!
06:12Parents, kids, and critics all seemed to agree.
06:15The series was clever, funny, and unique.
06:18An instant Nickelodeon classic.
06:20The neutrons are staying right here where we belong.
06:26Number five, Legend of the Three Caballeros.
06:29That tour guide was right.
06:30It is more of a rush to wait until after you land to open the parachute.
06:34Hola amigos, yo soy Panchito Romero Miguel Francisco Quintero González III.
06:38Did you know that Disney made a TV series based on a 1944 propaganda film?
06:43After the 2017 reboot of DuckTales proved to be a success,
06:46the company wanted to utilize Mickey's feathered friend in a new series,
06:50and decided that The Three Caballeros could serve as a good jumping-off point for an adventure series.
06:55And boy, were they right.
06:57Regardless of whether or not the viewers are familiar with Donald's foreign friends,
07:01Jose and Panchito, they are sure to find entertainment in the trio's daring adventures.
07:05I need a clear shot at Feldrick! Distract him!
07:08And how exactly do you expect us to do that exactly?
07:13The series' villain-a-week structure helped keep things interesting,
07:17with the Caballeros facing off against everything from Minotaurs to the God of Death,
07:22while its film-quality animation is sure to please even the most discerning adult fans.
07:27Fighting alongside the Three Caballeros! Oh, I'm so happy I could die! Again!
07:334. Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness
07:36The point of sneak attack training is to do the unexpected.
07:41What?
07:43See?
07:44This title isn't false advertising. Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness is indeed awesome.
07:50In the series, Dragon Warrior Po continues his Kung Fu training alongside the Furious Five,
07:55learning more about the martial arts and meeting fellow masters of the craft.
08:00You!
08:01Told you they'd recognize me!
08:03Although, like in the Kung Fu Panda films,
08:05Po doesn't always understand his lessons immediately. He learns from his mistakes,
08:10and in doing so, teaches the series' young audience thematic lessons about life.
08:14I thought I could handle that!
08:16Oopsie! One of our heroes isn't sounding all that heroic.
08:20He's no hero. He's a self-centered lout who puts his own ego ahead of those that depend on him.
08:25Hey, that's not-
08:27These lessons would become even more prominent in the less well-received but still pretty awesome
08:32Kung Fu Panda The Paws of Destiny, in which Po teaches four young pandas
08:36how to wield their own mystical powers.
08:39You hit that dude like-
08:42And taking the heat for your mistake? That's legit leader skills right there.
08:463. Lilo & Stitch The Series
08:49No, Stitch! You gotta learn to be more careful.
08:53You can't just break things all the time.
08:56Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind,
09:00including Stitch's 625 cousins.
09:03Thanks, Richter! You rock!
09:06In this spinoff of Lilo & Stitch, it's established that pods
09:10containing the rest of Jumba's experiments have been spread across Hawaii,
09:14and will activate in water.
09:16The titular pair decide to scour the island for these small but powerful monsters,
09:20teaching them about Earth and convincing them to use their abilities for good,
09:29what results as an incredibly fun monster-of-the-week series
09:32that often ends in rehabilitation instead of violence,
09:35keeping in line with the film's kind-hearted tone.
09:37Aw, Stitch, I'm so proud of you.
09:41The characters even spread this love to other series,
09:44having iconic crossovers with Kim Possible, the Proud Family,
09:47American Dragon Jake Long, and even the more grounded Recess.
09:51It's beautiful!
09:53And it couldn't have happened to a nastier guy than Hamsterville.
10:01Another win. Good job, bud.
10:05Have you ever wondered what happened in between the first and second
10:08How to Train Your Dragon films?
10:09If so, don't worry, DreamWorks' Dragons has the answer.
10:13The first DreamWorks series to partner with Cartoon Network rather than Nickelodeon,
10:17Dragons remains tonally similar to its source.
10:19Shut up, fish legs. Big deal. So his head fell off.
10:23It's not like he's on fire or anything.
10:26With many of the film's stars reprising their roles, the first two seasons of Dragons
10:30follows their young protagonist as they try to keep the peace between humans and dragons,
10:35fighting those who stand in the way of the progress.
10:37All eyes are upon you, son. Whatever those beasts do reflects on you.
10:42A move to Netflix in the show's third season resulted in a name change
10:46to Dragons Race to the Edge, but fortunately didn't cause a dip in quality.
10:51OK, bud. Let's try the new move.
10:56Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
11:00Monsters at Work.
11:01Tyler learns to laugh in his unconventional new position at Monsters, Inc.
11:06I can really get into this being in charge thing.
11:08Not that I'd use it for personal gain or anything.
11:09How much do you think my raise should be?
11:11The Croods Family Tree.
11:12The Croods and Bettermans come to terms with their new living situation.
11:17Pig eater on the loose!
11:18Let's grab it and stab it!
11:20Or we can redirect that stabbing energy into something less stabby.
11:24The Penguins of Madagascar.
11:26An award-winning spin-off about Madagascar's cute and cuddly side characters.
11:31Concrete Jungle is an elusive mistress who may call us into action at any given moment.
11:38Big Hero 6. The Series.
11:40The majority of the 3D Films cast returns in this 2D spin-off.
11:44So, what I'm hearing is we're all fully committed to being a super team
11:47and we'll sign legally binding contracts to that effect.
11:49The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants.
11:51Two kids and their principal-turned-superhero save their school from eccentric evildoers.
12:00This is a lot like the comic.
12:01We're good that way.

12:18Number 1. Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure.
12:27Rapunzel's life has finally begun.
12:29Formerly known as Tangled The Series,
12:32Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure continues the story of Tangled
12:35as a musical adventure series with breathtakingly fluid animation
12:39and Broadway-quality songs composed by Alan Menken.
12:48While many TV spin-offs of films opt for an exclusively episodic approach
12:53to avoid conflicts with their source material,
12:55Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure plays out like three new Tangled films,
12:59telling complex, overarching stories in Corona and beyond.
13:03It gives further depth to its protagonists, Rapunzel and Eugene,
13:19while also introducing a likable new cast of characters exclusive to the series.
13:23It's hard to argue against such well-made and charming children's television,
13:27so we won't even try.
13:33Did we miss any of your favorite cartoon spin-offs of animated movies?
