00:00Now we're going to bring some images straight up for you now on the program as a group of private
00:06Astronauts is set to carry out the first private spacewalk in orbit later these images coming straight out of NASA
00:13In fact bringing to you as they happen as it were it's going to happen outside a SpaceX capsule
00:18Testing well a new line of spacesuits in what is the company's riskiest mission yet?
00:24Well with me here is our senior reporter James Andrew is it also a little bit of a space buff
00:28I think we can say James just explain to us then exactly what this crew is going to do in the next hour or so
00:36Now as you're saying it's going to be the very first commercial spacewalk
00:39Of course, this is a technical demonstration for SpaceX. The idea is that they are going to depressurize
00:46The capsule which is the crew dragon
00:50so they're going to take all the air out of that everybody's going to be in suit simply because the crew dragon does not have a
00:57a depressurized
01:00Door system so the astronauts can come out and then well, they're going to go outside
01:05So it will be mr. Isaac man, who is you know, billionaire who is the the chief of this this mission the commander?
01:12And so he's going to be going out first for about 15 to 20 minutes and then it is mrs. Jillis now
01:17She is an engineer with
01:20SpaceX she's also
01:22You know an astronaut she's going to come out as well also from maybe 15 to 20 minutes
01:27They're going to be operating around a structure which has been built on
01:31the capsule which is called Skywalker difficult to forget and
01:37Then they will come back inside the capsule and the capsule will be repressurized. There are two other members to this mission
01:43They will be inside. They will not be coming out. They'll be managing the umbilical cords that will
01:48Ensure security for the astronauts
01:50Yeah
01:50it's interesting to hear what you're saying that because presumably that means and that even the two inside have got to have spacesuits because it's
01:56Going to be depressurized as well. Yeah, absolutely. Now they're going to conduct about 40 scientific
02:02Experiments. Well this mission but to be perfectly honest with you these experiments on that really interesting
02:07What's really interesting here is that this is a technical demonstration. This is saying right? This is the highest altitude
02:14There's been a spacewalk for what basically since the Apollo missions because you know
02:18The previous highest level was when the Hubble telescope was fixed and that was a long time ago
02:25It was NASA. They're gonna be around 700 kilometers from Earth during this mission. They flew at
02:311,400 kilometers from Earth and that is in itself is a technical feat
02:36When you look at it economically and politically the message is we have the technology we can do it
02:42We are better than NASA who has been pouring nearly a billion dollars in a new suit and from now hasn't managed to crack that
02:49Equation we are better than the Chinese were better than the Indians
02:52We are better than anybody else. And of course, we're better than Jeff Bezos in a sense
02:55This is very much
02:56You know the message here and it's also obviously a message to Boeing because if they managed to do this spacewalker to bring everybody
03:03Back given what's happening right now?
03:05With the Boeing capsule as we know with these astronauts who are stuck on the ISS that of course as well
03:11Sends a powerful message of you know, who right now has the best technical
03:16Master ring of going to space at the moment
