00:00Am I talking about actual f***ing?
00:02Ludicrous.
00:03You've stumped me. Truly.
00:13Okay, this is why can't you just be happy for me
00:16and then go home and talk behind my back later like a normal person.
00:20This is obviously from Bridesmaids,
00:23and this is from the bridal shower scene.
00:26Why can't you just be happy for me
00:28and then go home and talk behind my back later like a normal person.
00:32I think it speaks so much to the idea that
00:35when you're having fun and when there's joy,
00:37when you're creating something,
00:38that can be very powerful.
00:41And I think that's part of the magic sauce of Bridesmaids.
00:44We genuinely had fun, made each other laugh.
00:48It's very transmittable.
00:49I feel like people pick up on that.
00:51And there was always this conversation about chemistry and chemistry.
00:53And I think it's because a lot of us knew each other already.
00:56A lot of us came from the groundlings,
00:57but a lot of similar improv backgrounds
00:59where you're really supporting each other.
01:01And I think it really shows.
01:03I like when Kristen laughs.
01:06I know that's not the part that I'm supposed to like,
01:09but there's always a fun moment
01:10when you know you've gotten to somebody's giggle button
01:13and she's got a really good one.
01:15And hers is kind of quiet and she just goes,
01:17I'm laughing thinking about it now
01:19because it really does make me laugh.
01:22They fuck that rice pilaf until it's more like a mashed potato.
01:27It's a term they call pilafing.
01:29This is really funny and I don't know what it's from.
01:33You've stumped me.
01:34Truly, it's a movie.
01:37They fuck that rice pilaf until it's more like a mashed potato.
01:42It's a term they call pilafing.
01:43Am I talking about actual fucking?
01:46They fuck that rice pilaf until it's more like a mashed potato.
01:52Until it's more like a mashed potato.
01:53It's the term that you're trying to calculate.
01:56Really?
01:58Oh, that's why I don't remember.
02:00I completely blacked that out.
02:03It's happy time murders.
02:05They fuck that rice pilaf until it's more like a mashed potato.
02:09Okay.
02:10It's a term they call pilafing.
02:12That's the first and only time I've ever been attracted to a puppet.
02:17I'm a secretary named Bubbles.
02:19My detective that I work for, my boss, I fell in love with the puppet.
02:23It's about chemistry.
02:24We had a great chemistry.
02:25I'm not talking about the operator.
02:27He's lovely, but that's not what I was after.
02:30I was after the puppet.
02:34I'm also America's cool aunt.
02:36A fun aunt.
02:37I call that a funt.
02:39That would be Kamala from SNL.
02:42I'm also America's cool aunt.
02:46A fun aunt.
02:48I call that a funt.
02:49My casting for SNL was completely messy.
02:53I took the wrong advice, didn't go to the first audition, almost missed my chance,
02:59sent in a videotape of scenes that I'd done from the Groundlings to Lauren's office.
03:03Sometimes you make choices in life and you're like, why did I do that?
03:06But I'm so proud of the young version of me that knew that's what I really wanted and got there.
03:13So I'm very lucky.
03:15This time in my life has been fascinating because it's the first and only time I think
03:20I've ever been involved in anything where the world has determined that I'm doing something
03:24before I have.
03:25Yeah, I've had a pretty good laugh about that.
03:28It would be nice.
03:32I don't use deodorant and I only take bubble baths.
03:35This is Connie the Hormone Monstress.
03:37My dear, dear Connie from Big Mouth.
03:39I don't use deodorant and I only take bubble baths.
03:43That was actually the first day that we even created Connie.
03:46I think that was the line.
03:47And then we knew how she spoke because I was just recording the show because I played Nick's mom,
03:53Diane.
03:54And Fred Armisen is his dad, Elliot.
03:57And we were his mommy and his daddy.
03:59And it was very sweet and very fun.
04:01And then like most animated shows, they said, we're going to do this character.
04:06Can you add this voice?
04:07You know, they always have you do other stuff.
04:08And Nick already was doing a Hormone Monster.
04:11So I tried to find a female version.
04:14I remember that day when I came down into the words bubble bath.
04:20We were like, oh yeah, that's it.
04:22That's who she is.
04:24Do you promise to stop talking about your ability to find or not find my vagina after I give birth?
04:30Oh, this is from Away We Go.
04:32Stop talking about your ability to find or not find my vagina after I give birth.
04:39I love that movie.
04:40And I like this line a lot because it's filled with so much love.
04:45My character really loved Bert.
04:47He did really annoying stuff sometimes, but she loved him anyway.
04:50And this was a perfect example.
04:52I loved making that movie.
04:53I loved making that movie with John.
04:55We had such a special thing.
04:57It was the first real true thing I did after Saturday Night Live.
05:01I was so sad to leave and I didn't know how I was going to feel.
05:04And then this special project came into my life that felt like one of those moments where you
05:09want somebody to write something for you that you really want to do.
05:12And I feel like this was that moment for me.
05:15And I love our little love story so much.
05:20I wish Princess Ghost would come back and serenade me for like two whole hours
05:24and then make sweet, sweet love to me.
05:27This is from Wine Country.
05:29And serenade me for like two whole hours and then make sweet, sweet love to me.
05:35The greatest thing about the project was not only getting to do it together
05:39with our group of friends, but with people who know you well.
05:42So they know the comedy side of me, but they also know the real me.
05:46And all of that is infused in the movie for everyone.
05:49So that line in particular is very much my true heart and how I really feel,
05:53but written by someone who knows and loves me very much.
05:56And then doing that scene together was really special because Emily and I met
06:00at the Groundlings when we were 24, 25,
06:04and ended up going on to do a lot of things together.
06:07Almost everything I did at Saturday Night Live.
06:09And I love collaborating with people that know you really well
06:13and you know really well.
06:14There's an incredible trust.
06:15But it's also just, I'm a sucker for laughing with my friends.
06:18So that was a special one.
06:26This is maybe one of my favorite lines from Idiocracy.
06:29You think Einstein walked around thinking everyone was a bunch of dumb shits?
06:33The following line is me saying, now you know why he built that bomb.
06:36Now you know why he built that bomb.
06:39Which still makes me laugh.
06:40Idiocracy, which at the time was called 3001,
06:43was top to bottom the funniest script I'd ever read in my life.
06:48That movie was the special summer I got to spend in Austin.
06:52And Dax Shepard and I became true friends that love each other deeply.
06:57Again, it was one of those things where you really lean on the people that you're with.
07:00And we had the most fun getting to play these dummies.
07:04It's one of my all-time favorite movies.
07:06And we were so proud of it.
07:07And then it never came out.
07:08What's cool is people have found it over the years.
07:10And people know it.
07:11And that's a very cool cult classic special thing.
07:14But we couldn't wait for people to see it.
07:17It just never came out.
07:24I believe this is from Sisters.
07:27Bitches.
07:28This is also a very delightful character who pronounces the word ludicrous as ludicrous.
07:35But that was another painfully fun experience making that movie
07:39that our dear friend Paula Pell wrote.
07:41It's pretty obvious by now we all like working together.
07:44But it is the nature of how we all started.
07:48What I like about it, the people that know you well know
07:51how to bring things out of you that sometimes you don't even think you're capable of.
07:55So that's always been a really nice experience.
07:57There's that trust there.
07:58And then there's that element where they see,
08:01oh, she's capable of doing this.
08:02We're going to write her to be this dumb real estate a-hole.
08:05And it was really fun.
08:09Everything was on steroids except for his voice.
08:12Yeah, it was the grown-ups.
08:13We were at the water park.
08:15What was he from Saskatoon or something?
08:20Similar to what I was saying before about a group mentality,
08:24there is a very conscious effort to bring friends together
08:28and people that love each other make each other laugh.
08:31That movie in particular, I think, was at a time in Adam's life
08:34where he really wanted to surround himself with his friends
08:38and the people that he loves and that make him laugh.
08:40All he's doing when he's not on camera is laughing.
08:42He'll always tell you that you crushed it.
08:44Even if you didn't, he just wants everybody to shine,
08:47which is lovely and very sweet.
08:50Oh, my God, did you stump me?
08:52I gave $10,000 to Greenpeace.
08:55That should even it out, right?
08:57Oh, this is from Luke.
08:58I gave $10,000 to Greenpeace.
09:00That should even it out, right?
09:01I was like, I don't remember what movie this is from
09:03because it's not from a movie.
09:05It's from a TV show.
09:07Yes, this is from Luke.
09:08This is Molly thinking she did it.
09:11She gave $10,000 to Greenpeace, which is a significant amount.
09:14She does have $87 billion,
09:15so I feel like she could cough up a little bit more.
09:18Yeah, I had no idea I was nominated for four Emmys.
09:19That was a very exciting morning.
09:21And then I've never been nominated for Best Actress before,
09:25so that was very cool.
09:27I just feel really lucky.
09:28I was recognized for things that are meaningful to me
09:30and that matter to me, and that feels really good.
