Jim Alistair questions secretary of state Hilary benn on Finucane inquiry
Transcript
00:00that I have come to this conclusion because this particular case, the Finucane case,
00:05is exceptional, for the reasons that I have tried to explain.
00:09I begin by apologising to the Secretary of State and the House for being absent at the
00:16beginning of his statement. Secretary of State, has there ever been a family
00:24given more preferential handling by Government than the Finucane family?
00:32Prime Ministerial apology, multiple investigations, inquiries, and now an
00:42uncapped public inquiry, after that family had rejected previous Government offers of inquiries.
00:52Isn't the tragic takeaway from the Secretary of State's statement today that for innocent
01:00victims of the IRA, UVF and others, the ICIR is good enough for them,
01:09but it's not good enough for the Finucane family? Why is this?
