00:26Episode 607-9 Farewell
00:30Fame and Fortune
00:33Emma folded her hands in her lap before addressing the media.
00:37I feel like I have been very patient with Marjorie since we met.
00:40She has accused me of cutting her, lied about the health of my baby,
00:45repeatedly accosted me in my own home, and accused me of having an affair with a friend.
00:51Yesterday, she caused a fire in my garden and then drugged my soup in an attempt to end my life.
00:57I wanted to settle these matters quietly and privately, but Marjorie has taken that as a
01:03green light to see how far she can push me. So today, I'm getting justice. Not for only myself,
01:11but for my true mother-in-law as well.
01:14Emma faced Marjorie.
01:16Do you want to explain how you poisoned my soup with quinine?
01:20She asked. Marjorie slumped down, defeated. You seem to think that you have the whole story
01:27figured out. Just tell me what you want me to say. Marjorie said. Emma shook her head at Marjorie's
01:34act. Quinine isn't an easy prescription drug to get your hands on. As a biological researcher,
01:42you would have to file a request to get it. I've seen your request form at the lab myself.
01:47Can you explain what you use the drug for? Emma asked for an experiment. Obviously,
01:54Marjorie answered an experiment. Emma repeated before laughing right after you picked up the
02:00drug. You took a few days' leave from the lab. So when and where would you have done your
02:05experiment? You didn't check out any lab equipment. Just the dean. Are you claiming that
02:11I poisoned you just because I had access to quinine? That's hardly strong evidence. Marjorie
02:18said. But you can't clear your name by telling us what you use the drug for, either. Emma replied.
02:25You can ask any doctor if they would lose track of a controlled substance like this.
02:29They carefully keep records unless it's used for something illegal.
02:33Marjorie stared at her blankly. Furthermore, on the day of the incident, there was a fire in
02:39my garden. For some reason, the culprit was not caught on many security cameras,
02:45which leads me to believe they were very familiar with our security system.
02:50All of this applies to Eliza as well. Marjorie pointed out trying to deflect the blame.
02:56How do I know the two of you aren't teaming up to pin the blame on me?
03:00She asked, Do you think with your well-recorded history of crimes, people would believe you over
03:06me? Emma asked, glancing at the reporters for emphasis. Marjorie glanced at their expressions
03:14and realized they would take the side of whoever they thought was the victim.
03:18I let my concern for my unborn child soften me. I wouldn't have let you take things so far before
03:24my pregnancy. You're a pathological liar who is willing to risk other people's lives for fame
03:31and fortune. Emma said Marjorie had run out of arguments and was beginning to crumble under the
03:37critical glare of the reporters. She turned to Brian for help, grabbing his arm. We've been
03:43married for so long. Tell them who I am. She begged. He had fallen silent as the accusations
03:51and evidence were tossed between the women. Chills now ran down his spine as he looked at
03:57the woman he had spent the past 19 years with. Actually, I don't think I know you at all,
04:03he said quietly. It's not what you think. They're setting me up. She cried out. The DNA report has
04:11already been done. How can you still deny it? He asked as he brushed her hand off his arm in a
04:17quiet voice. He continued. I wondered what you were doing with the Dean. Do you understand that
04:24using it on Emma is attempted murder? She tried reaching for him again. No, honey, it's not like
04:31that. He looked like he might be sick. I can't deny the truth anymore. You've been pretending
04:37to be my wife. I protected you and helped you go against Emma. I'm disgusted with you, but even
04:44more. I'm disgusted with myself. When you report this to the police, I can verify that she brought
04:51Quentin home from work, he said. Marjorie began crying as everything fell apart. But I did all
04:59of this because I was afraid of losing you. Actually, I already reported this to the police.
05:05Emma replied. She looked at Marjorie. You should save your tears for them. Marjorie began panicking
05:14and looked ready to bolt out the door. The reporters were blocking her path. No, you can't
05:20make me go to the police station. Marjorie yelled. Emma watched the mess unfold between Marjorie and
05:26the reporters calmly. She didn't interfere or call the police. Part of her enjoyed seeing Marjorie
05:32suffer. Brian reached for Eliza as if to hug her, only to have his hand smacked away. You're not
05:40worthy of touching me. Feel free to follow your wife straight to hell. Eliza snapped. He backed
05:47away, staring at her with a guilty expression. Episode 680. Carefully Planned Trouble
05:55Brian was experiencing the shock of his life. His wife of the past 19 years was an imposter,
06:02and his true wife had essentially returned from the grave. His heart ached, but he didn't argue
06:08with Eliza. He knew he had lost his right to ever face her again. Marjorie was still surrounded by
06:14reporters and unable to break loose, and Emma and her party were escorted out of the hotel.
06:20It wasn't until they had stepped back onto the streets of New York that Emma began wondering
06:26why Marjorie had waited so long to strike again. Lila's popularity continued to rise,
06:32and Kaleidoscope filled her schedule with projects. Despite her increase in fame,
06:37she was still nowhere near reaching Emma's level. Much to her frustration, when her assistant Quinn
06:44took out a tablet to show her a recording of Marjorie's press conference, she just shook her
06:49head. I didn't think that she would be defeated so easily. How pathetic. Lila said, What should we do
06:57now? The incident didn't negatively affect Emma's reputation at all, Quinn said. Do you still want
07:05to compete with her? Lila smiled confidently. Emma is pregnant and can't possibly take on any
07:13projects for the time being. I need to take advantage of these next few months to boost my
07:18career by the time she announces her comeback. Her era of fame will be over. She closed her eyes
07:25and leaned back in her chair to relax. Keep an eye on her will. Lay low until the time is right.
07:33You might want to keep your distance from me or change your appearance to avoid Marjorie
07:37recognizing you. Lila added. Quinn nodded and set the tablet aside. Lila was confident that Emma
07:45wouldn't figure out her involvement as long as she stayed out of the way for the time being.
07:51After the press conference, Emma and the others returned to her home. Curiosity overcame Eliza,
07:57and she asked, So how did you manage to get the samples and find the time to do the DNA testing
08:03for Marjorie, Eric and me? Emma sat on the couch and smirked. I lied. I put together the report
08:12after doing some research online. She answered. Eliza's jaw dropped. She didn't know whether to
08:18laugh or cry. What if someone actually tries contacting the research facility? She asked.
08:25I never said which research facility it was. I let the media assume the rest.
08:32Emma replied with a mischievous smile. Eliza didn't respond. Still in shock.
08:39Emma shrugged. The media doesn't care about the full truth. They just need a believable story
08:44with a who, what, when, where and why. We gave them that today. I feel like we let Marjorie
08:51off too easily. Bridget said from her spot next to Emma on the couch. She hurt both of you,
08:57and we can't let her get away with that. Emma decided to keep her backup plan to herself.
09:03Too much of the spotlight will eventually burn you. Don't underestimate the damage the press
09:08can do to someone. Emma replied. I really can't thank you enough. Eliza said gently, holding
09:14Emma's hand. She nudged Bridget. Thank your sister-in-law, she whispered. Bridget blushed.
09:23She hadn't had time to process her new family members. She had gotten used to the idea of
09:29having no other family around her. This felt overwhelming. She scratched her head nervously,
09:36wondering how she would ever be comfortable referring to her sister-in-law. Her brother.
09:41Emma laughed in understanding. Go back to your film set. You've caused Richard enough trouble,
09:48she said. Trouble? I don't cause him trouble, Bridget replied with a frown.
09:55Richard smiled because she didn't know how much Richard had been doing behind her back to help
09:59her. Despite her protest, she turned to him and said, let's go. He raised his eyebrows at her.
10:08Are you sure? I thought you might want to take advantage of your new status to get out of doing
10:14things. Don't be ridiculous. She snapped. She rolled her eyes and snatched his hand to drag
10:20him to the door. Once they had settled in the car, she asked, would I get in trouble for beating
10:27someone up? What do you think? He asked as he fastened his seatbelt. She already knew the
10:34answer, but she still longed to hit someone. But actions speak louder than words, she said.
10:41I know, he replied, but you'll just have to let someone else handle it.
10:47They started the car, wanting to return to set as quickly as possible. He hadn't forgotten that any
10:53losses by the production crew were his responsibility. Later that night, Marjorie
10:59wandered the icy streets of New York, looking for a place to hide. She had just emerged from
11:04the dumpsters. She had been hiding behind for hours to avoid the media. She was cold, hungry,
11:10and dirty, but had nowhere to go. Brian was no longer on her side, so she couldn't return to
11:17their home. Her depression and desperation had blinded her to her surroundings, and she was
11:23caught by surprise when two large men started walking next to her, one on each side. She
11:29nervously looked from one to the other, then started to pick up her pace. They picked up their
11:35pace as well. Not having the energy to break into a run, she turned to one of them and said,
11:41who are you guys? What do you want from me? We just want to talk to you, Marjorie.
11:47One of them said, we would appreciate it if you could explain how you poisoned Emma.
11:53Although his words were polite, his tone made it clear that cooperating was her only option.
11:59They must be Emma's men, she thought as she started shaking. Don't hurt me, she whispered.
12:06We're not going to hurt you, he replied in the same quiet yet menacing tone. Just be honest with
12:12us, and we'll let you go on your way out of options. And terrified, she began explaining
12:18in detail what she had done to Emma, including where she had hidden the bottle of quinine.
12:24One of the men laughed when she told them that she had hidden it with the condiments in the kitchen.
12:30Very clever. He said fear had loosened her tongue enough so that she began confessing
12:36things they hadn't asked for, like why she had poisoned Emma. Some woman from Kaleidoscope with
12:42short hair claimed that Emma was expecting me to give up my career and raise the child.
12:48I couldn't do that. My career is everything to me. I was trying to protect myself,
12:54she said. She provided more details about the woman after they asked.
12:59However, without a name or picture, Emma was unable to find the person in Kaleidoscope's
13:04staff database. Although the person hadn't been identified, Marjorie had given Emma a
13:10valuable piece of information. Her attack had been provoked by someone else.
