00:00I felt the same way as everyone else when I first watched it and I suppose I sort of remember

00:08thinking this isn't like any other interview I've seen and I didn't really know why at the time,

00:14you know, I didn't question it so much at the time and I just sort of, you know,

00:19watched, saw the memes afterwards and the jokes and the late night shows and you know all that

00:23kind of stuff, the cultural stuff that happened but I've never really really thought about more

00:30about why was it so unlike anything I'd seen before and obviously in working on it we started

00:36to sort of answer those questions really but at the time yeah it was, you know, one of the reasons

00:42why I'd never seen anything like it before was because I suppose because and this was part of

00:49the reaction from people, one of the reactions was how has this been allowed to happen, how has he

00:54agreed to this and that's partly why I'd never seen anything like before because in a world where

00:59interviews are so controlled and stage managed and particularly with royal family and politicians

01:05and things like that, here was someone who was voluntarily, a person of power and privilege,

01:10voluntarily putting themself into the line of fire and being made to feel like, you know,

01:16be accountable for something that they had done or not done and that's so, I mean people

01:21just don't do that. I saw it with a bunch of friends and I was utterly gobsmacked like the

01:28rest of the nation I think and I can't really remember because I've worked on it so much

01:35and both of us have worked on the interview so much it's quite hard to exactly

01:39remember how you first felt but I do remember thinking that my biggest takeaway was like

01:44how on earth did this happen, why did he put himself in this position, he has every opportunity

01:51not to do that and he did, it's extraordinary. So I remember, I watched it a few times actually

01:57before I took this job, I'd seen it a few times because I thought it's such a fascinating study

02:02of an individual as well.
