00:00We had this crazy idea that we're going to do an open day with probably about five weeks to go,
00:06so we decided instead of it just being an open day and open the doors for people to come in
00:09and have a look around, we decided to put on a show as well.
00:13We've put together a nice section of musical theatre
00:16from people involved like Ports of Players, Benchmark, we've also got Resonate Choir,
00:21we've also got KSPA, which is King's School of Performing Arts,
00:25oh and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, yes, which is here in October.
00:30So we've got a bit of a mix there, we've got a bit of a mix of musical theatre,
00:33we've got a bit of a mix of theatre, we've got a bit of a mix of musical theatre,
00:36we've got a bit of a mix of musical theatre, we've got a bit of a mix of musical theatre.
00:40The King's School of Performing Arts offers many different ventures such as Academy,
00:44Academy Plus, Resonate and we have a BTEC now.
00:47Our Academy is for 4 to 18s where they're starting to learn about performing arts,
00:52our Academy Plus is for people that are looking for that furthering of their education and getting
00:56a bit more industry specific. We have Resonate Show Choir which is for 18 plus,
01:01so if you're interested in singing then come along and then we are joining and collaborating
01:06with Portsmouth College as well where we will be delivering a BTEC A Level in Performing Arts.
01:14There is so much that goes into putting together a day like today, putting the performance on the
01:18stage, getting all of the tech done, getting all of the front of the house ready.
01:23There's probably been about 50 people involved in putting this together and I think they've
01:27done a fantastic job. We haven't had an open day for a couple of years so it's really opening our
01:32doors to our local residents, the people of Portsmouth who support us. It's also the launch
01:37of our regeneration project called 1907 Elevation. We're looking to get feedback
01:42from our community to see what they would really like as part of that project. It's
01:46going to be transformational for the community and for everyone in the Portsmouth area.
01:51It involves retaining the facade of the three shops, 24, 26 and 28 Albert Road with better
01:57access, toilets and a lift and then on the first floor you've got double height,
02:02community space and better facilities for coming to the theatre.
02:10I'm currently sat in the stage bar which we have given a slight makeover and we're hoping
02:16to start launching this for corporate packages, Christmas parties so people can come and have a
02:22bespoke experience in a private space. It holds about 20 to 23 people and it's got great access
02:31to the stalls area as well so you can quickly get to your seats after maybe a glass of prosecco or two.
02:40We are doing Dick Whittington this year. I am playing Dame Dolly
02:44and I am so excited to be back doing my 10th year in the King's Pantomime. It's going to
02:50be brilliant. We've got an incredible cast headed up by Lorraine Stanley and George Sampson
02:56so it's going to be a brilliant show. Please do get your tickets ASAP.
