Brock Purdy praised Jordan Mason for filling in for the 'best running back in the league,' Christian McCaffrey
Transcript
00:00JP did a good job coming in and there were some third downs and stuff where I was able
00:04to hit him on some check downs and him doing the same thing Christian has done.
00:07So obviously, Christian is the best in the league at running back and
00:12what he does, I'm not taking anything away from that.
00:15But I think JP did a good job of coming in and filling his void and
00:19doing his job to allow other guys to get open and allow us to run our offense, so.
00:24I thought he runs like he always does.
00:26I mean, when you get him the ball, he breaks tackles,
00:29usually gets more than we block for.
00:32When we had the good lanes, he always hit them and got a bunch, but
00:36JP was awesome today.
00:38To see him over the last two years, just push the envelope more and
00:42more every year and then get an op this year at camp and do well with it.
00:46And obviously in the first game of the season, he did great with it.
00:49So really, really excited for him.
00:51He's earned it, man.
00:52He's the kind of guy that was not given to him.
00:54And so to see him go out and do what he did tonight, man, I'm so happy for him.
00:57And I know he's gonna keep pushing.
00:59We always think very highly of JP when he's been in those situations.
01:04That's what he's always done.
01:05And you always want Christian out there, what he brings to the run game,
01:08also what he brings to the pass game.
01:10So it's huge to have Christian, but not at the expense of losing him for
01:14more games.
