00:00It is my joy and my privilege to present to you James Earl Jones with this, an Academy Award.
00:08Acclaimed actor James Earl Jones, the voice of Star Wars supervillain Darth Vader, died Monday at the age of 93.
00:17His agent did not cite a cause of death, but said Jones, a long-time diabetic, was surrounded by his family in his last moments.
00:26In interviews, Jones said he loved playing the part of Darth Vader and of being part of the Star Wars myth.
00:32When I walk out tonight, there'll be kids with posters to be signed. It doesn't haunt me, I love it.
00:38I love that I was a part of that cult. It doesn't hurt, when they're young especially, to stop and sign somebody's poster.
00:46Jones also voiced Mufasa in The Lion King and won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album, Great American Documents, in 1977.
00:56In 2011, he was given an honorary Oscar for Extraordinary Distinction in Lifetime Achievement.
