00:00Hey guys, welcome back to DriveSpark, I'm Vedant Johari and today we have the Bajaj
00:18Freedom 125, the CNG motorcycle with us.
00:22Now, you guys must have seen our walkaround video where I've spoken about the design,
00:27what all this bike has to offer, but let's take a quick glimpse of that again.
00:30So first off, at the front we get an LED headlamp, a split section headlamp where the bottom
00:36is our regular lights and the top is our high beams.
00:39We get halogen indicators, telescopic forks in the front and the disc brake as this is
00:44the top-end variant.
00:45The base variant and the mid-variant both come with drum brakes.
00:49Now apart from that, looking at the side design of the vehicle, we get a very, very clean
00:54fuel tone finish and the side silhouette, the side aesthetic of this motorcycle is
00:57really nice.
00:58Bajaj has done wonders on the design of this motorcycle.
01:03Now we get a really, really long single section seat and finally, at the rear we get halogen
01:09indicators with a nice half grab rail in the piano black finish.
01:14Now we have the piano black finish in a lot of parts of this motorcycle, basically just
01:19adding to the whole premiumness and the whole sporty and clean aesthetic that the Freedom
01:25has to offer.
01:26Now we've had this bike for some time now and we've ridden it around in traffic, on
01:30empty roads, so in this video, I'm going to mainly be telling you guys about how it is
01:35to ride this motorcycle, what's the mileage you're getting out of it and whether it's
01:40a good commuter or not.
01:42In a commuter motorcycle, what are we looking for?
01:45Our main focus is how good it is to ride, how comfortable it is and where we can store
01:50items.
01:51Now, let's start from the reverse, storage.
01:55The Freedom doesn't have much storage.
01:58A small pocket that we get in the front is to fill fuel and to fill our CNG, underneath
02:04each seat is our CNG tank and our battery, so there's really no storage option that we
02:08get.
02:09However, how Bajaj has considered this, they've given us a few hooks at the rear for storage.
02:16Now we have two on either side, so maybe we can put a bag and strap it in or just get
02:20some luggage racks or luggage panniers to just put at the rear.
02:25However, buying it off the showroom, we don't get any such additions.
02:30Now apart from that, ride comfort and how it is to ride, well, the seat that we get
02:36is extremely comfortable.
02:37So now for example, I'm 6 foot 1 and as you can see, I'm really comfortable on the bike.
02:44I can keep my leg flat as you can see without much hassle.
02:49So it's a fairly low seat, it will aid the shorter riders, it will be easier for the
02:56shorter riders to ride this and on top of that, the handlebar placement, the whole rider's
03:00triangle as you can see, I'm extremely relaxed on the motorcycle, no part of my body is strained,
03:06my legs are pretty much neutral, it's not front set, nor is it rear set, the handlebars
03:11are not too upright, nor is it too low, it's honestly a very, very good riding posture,
03:16it's a very easy riding posture and in the city, you can just flow with the bike, there's
03:21no problem at all.
03:23Apart from that, seat comfort, we get this long seat, so that really, really adds in
03:27the comfort and one more thing that is a plus point on the Freedom is that, without the
03:32actual elevated tank, a fuel tank that we get, if we're braking hard, we aren't hitting
03:37our front into anything, we still have more of the seat to go to, so nothing is getting
03:43pressed, nothing is getting squashed when we're braking hard and if we do want to relax
03:49and ride a little bit, we do have the option to move back a bit to just take it a little
03:54more easier on the motorcycle.
03:56Now how does this long seat really benefit us?
03:59Well, basically, as you guys know, commuter motorcycles, we do see families on the bike,
04:04so if you do have a small child or someone with you, you can't put them in front of you
04:08because you do have a little space in the front, even if I move a little to the rear,
04:12I still have a lot of space at the rear for someone else to sit, so that's more or less
04:17just the seating position of this.
04:19Now apart from that, coming to the braking aspect, at the front, we get a disc brake,
04:23at the rear, we get a drum brake, so at the front, when we're braking, it's really, really
04:28good, we do have a strong bite and having a disc brake does give us that extra sense
04:33of security and if we hit the rear brake also, it's not like we don't feel it, it is a whole
04:39lot weaker, however, we really aren't looking for something sharp, for something aggressive
04:44on a commuter motorcycle.
04:45Now in terms of suspension setup, we get a telescopic suspension in the front and we
04:49get a monolink suspension at the rear, the telescopic suspension, again, eats up the
04:54bumps really easily, it's very soft, it's very comfortable and the monolink suspension
04:59is basically the suspension that's connected to the frame of the motorcycle, so even that
05:04eats up the bumps really well, you really feel it squat and come back up in a very controlled
05:10motion, it doesn't throw you off the motorcycle, nor do you feel uncomfortable.
05:14Now coming to the mileage, coming to the range, well, I mainly rode this on CNG because I've
05:19never experienced a CNG motorcycle before, so on CNG, when I was really gunning it, when
05:24I was pushing the, when I was pushing the motorcycle, I was getting around 41-42 kilometres
05:30per kg, CNG, when I was riding it a lot more easier, a lot more linear throttle, I was
05:36getting just below 65 kilometres per kg.
05:40Now coming on, now coming to the petrol, well, I didn't ride it on petrol extensively, however,
05:46Bajaj claims 65 kilometres per litre, but since I saw that figure on CNG, I can only
05:51expect the petrol, when I'm riding it linear, to give us a range, a mileage of around 45
05:57kilometres or less.
05:59So that was pretty much the whole riding impression of the Bajaj Freedom, so now quickly coming
06:04to the engine specifications, well, this is a 125cc engine that produces 9.5 horsepower
06:10and 9.7 Newton metres of torque, but Bajaj claims you get the same power figures on petrol
06:16and CNG mode and when you ride it, you really don't feel a difference between either of
06:20the modes.
06:21So now finally coming to the prices and the availability of this, well, the Freedom is
06:25available in three variants, base variant starting at a price of Rs. 95,000 ex-showroom
06:31and the top-end variant going up to Rs. 1,10,000.
06:35So apart from that, we get seven colour options on the Bajaj Freedom depending on the variants
06:39you choose.
06:40So all in all, this was a real-world review of the Bajaj 125, if you have any questions,
