The island of San Giulio is located in Lake Orta in Piedmont (Italy). It is located about 400 meters from the shore and is 275 meters long. There are the Basilica of San Giulio and the Mater Ecclesiae Abbey, the latter inhabited only by nuns. The island of San Giulio was chosen for the shooting of the film "La Correspondence" by Giuseppe Tornatore. The ancient village in the film is called "Borgo Ventoso". It is an enchanting place full of charm and silence, such as to have also inspired the writers Gianni Rodari and Umberto Eco.
