00:43It's day six of the Paralympics.
00:44We're live and it's time for the last leg in Paris.
00:47CHEERING
00:49Tonight on the show, we skip through two days of Paralympic action.
00:54Sit down with some Paralympics GB medal winners
00:57and give a big hand to a Paralympic legend.
01:01Plus we'll be joined by actor Rose Ayling-Ellis
01:04and comedian Ivo Graham
01:06on the show that can't wait to get back into full swing.
01:11CHEERING
01:20Hello!
01:24Wow!
01:26Hold it down, hold it down.
01:28G'day, I'm Adam Hills.
01:31Oh, my goodness, they won't stop.
01:34G'day, I'm Adam Hills.
01:35Welcome to the last leg in Paris to show whose favourite band
01:37is the Paralympic village people.
01:39With me, as always, are the pride of Dartmoor, Josh Whittakam,
01:41and the man who thought Croque Monsieur was a Frenchman in sandals,
01:44Alex Brooker.
01:47Oi!
01:50Now...
01:52If you tuned in last night, you would have noticed we had a day off.
01:55Lads, what did you guys get up to?
01:57So, I went back up to Huddersfield.
02:00Did you? Surprised the kids by picking them up...
02:02Someone just laughed at the word Huddersfield, by the way.
02:05Yeah, no, that's where I live.
02:08Surprised the kids by picking them up from school.
02:10My kids, by the way, just not any general...
02:12By the way, what I would say is,
02:14in terms of places to turn up as a surprise,
02:17school playgrounds aren't up there, is what I...
02:21When people look at you like you're not meant to be there.
02:23But, yeah, I went and surprised the kids, picked them up from school.
02:26We watched the Paralympics together for the first time,
02:28which was lovely.
02:30They were watching the swimming.
02:32Oh, yeah, you say, oh, now, don't you?
02:34Yeah, we watched the swimming, and it was amazing.
02:36They were... My girls were seven and six.
02:38And they were just so concerned about how genuinely
02:40how the athletes in no arms get in and out the pool.
02:43Yeah.
02:44They were just like, are they going to be OK?
02:46Are they going to be able to get out?
02:48When it comes to me getting in and out the pool,
02:50they couldn't give a shit.
02:51I can't climb the steps either. It doesn't stop them running out.
02:54Josh?
02:55I went back to London. Yep.
02:57And no laugh for that.
02:59And, um...
03:01Seems a more realistic place for one of us to live, doesn't it?
03:04I went back to London and, um...
03:06Cos it was my daughter's first day at school today, in year two,
03:09and I got home at three...
03:12I tell you what, it's not...
03:14I mean, you normally hear that noise at the Paralympics,
03:17but not for able-bodied people.
03:21Got home at 3pm.
03:23She didn't have any school shoes for today,
03:25so I found some in Clarks and Walthamstow.
03:28I said we could go on a trip, and she didn't want to go,
03:32so I just drove to Walthamstow on my own.
03:35Went to Clarks. Yep.
03:37Came back, put her to bed.
03:39She couldn't get back to sleep cos she was nervous.
03:41She fell asleep. It was too late for me to go down and have dinner,
03:44so I just went to sleep and then I woke up and I came back.
03:46And I would say it's the worst money I've ever spent.
03:51Yeah, I don't think I speak for a nation when I say,
03:53cool story, bro.
03:57I, yesterday, stayed in Paris,
03:59did not go back to Australia to see my kids.
04:01What?!
04:03I, very, very excited to say, yesterday,
04:05I was lucky enough to be taken up the Eiffel Tower.
04:08Oi, oi!
04:11Oh, lucky you.
04:12Yeah, I mean, we had dinner first.
04:14I'm not... I'm not easy.
04:17No, I went to a function at the British Embassy yesterday
04:19that was held for Channel 4,
04:21and there was a whole bunch of speakers.
04:22There was a mate...
04:23Oh, there were people here who were at the function, right?
04:25All the fans of Channel 4 are in.
04:27It was amazing. It was such an incredible function.
04:29But the president of the International Paralympic Committee,
04:32Andrew Parsons, spoke,
04:34and he pointed me out in the crowd and said,
04:36Oh, I'm also very excited to have
04:38my favourite comedian of the games here.
04:42He was definitely pointing at you.
04:45To be fair to him, he was fucking livid
04:47because we both turned down the invitation.
04:50I can't believe I wasted one of the hands on him.
04:53I gave him one of my soft toys.
04:55Also, there was an amazing moment where
04:57there was a woman who was deaf who came over
04:59to tell me that she loved The Last Leg.
05:01But as she signed it to me,
05:03it was the first time I'd ever seen anyone sign The Last Leg.
05:06So I asked her to do it again, and I filmed it
05:08so you can see what the sign is for The Last Leg.
05:10Here it is.
05:17I love the... I mean, that's last, but I love the...
05:21See, I didn't know that meant leg.
05:23I always thought that meant that's the price.
05:27That's not... She's got you right.
05:29I checked that with BSL.
05:31Please stop filming me. I'm trying to enjoy a party.
05:34Also, I'm not saying things got out of hand,
05:36but I met the CEO of the International Paralympic Committee,
05:40Mike Peters, who I think is in the audience.
05:42Are you here tonight, Mike?
05:43All right.
05:51Did we challenge each other yesterday
05:54to get the Paralympic symbols tattooed together?
05:58Yes, we did.
05:59OK, all right.
06:01So, and are you still up for that?
06:03I mean, if you're in.
06:05OK. Let's do it.
06:06So before the end of the Games, you and I are going to get
06:08the Paralympic symbols tattooed on our bodies somewhere?
06:10That's right.
06:11OK.
06:12Let's do it.
06:15Can I just say...
06:20That's the most Adam Hill story ever,
06:22cos most people, their tattoo story is,
06:25I was off my face in Thailand.
06:27And Adam's is, I was at a garden party with a CEO.
06:30Anyway, that's tonight's poll.
06:33Where do you think Adam should get his tattoo?
06:38You said arse a lot yesterday.
06:40Yeah.
06:41Is that where you're going to get it tattooed?
06:43I thought about the coin slot, but I think I'm going to go home.
06:50Sorry, just to check, are you sure you're a CEO?
06:54Are you a man that broke into a garden party...
07:00All right, look, we've got a whole bunch of people here
07:02from wheelchair tennis, paratriathlon, badminton...
07:04Are you sure, or are they just other people
07:06that have just shown up as well?
07:07No, Paralympians in the audience, we're very excited to have you here.
07:10A round of applause for all of our Paralympians here.
07:12Thank you so, so much.
07:14As is always the way with Paralympic sports,
07:16you'll probably have a few questions for us.
07:18We are the people who ask messages at the last leg.
07:20Use the hashtag, isitok.
07:22Bolt said, my visually impaired husband asks,
07:25is it OK that for the VI sports,
07:27visually impaired sports like goalball,
07:29they didn't make the score in the corner of the screen any bigger?
07:32Now, this is an interesting one, because it's still...
07:34I guess, if you're visually impaired,
07:36it's OK to make the score in the corner of the screen any bigger.
07:39Now, this is an interesting one, because it's still...
07:41I guess, if you're visually impaired
07:43and you're watching a visually impaired sport,
07:45you still need to be catered for.
07:46We have talked to the bods at Channel 4,
07:48and there's kind of a trade-off,
07:50because you don't want to obscure the sport,
07:52but you need to make the score big enough.
07:54Yeah, you can't just have the score massive across the screen.
07:56No. But I want to see both.
07:58But I find this really interesting,
07:59because I was talking to Chris McCausland,
08:01the blind comedian, before the games,
08:03and he was saying he's found in the past
08:05sometimes the games are commentated a bit too much like TV,
08:08where they just let you watch the action.
08:10And as a blind person, he's like, I don't know what's going on.
08:13You need to commentate it more descriptively.
08:15But then I found out, or we found out, actually,
08:17that Channel 4 have actually taught their commentators this year
08:20to be more descriptive,
08:22and not talk like it's TV and just let you watch,
08:24actually describe what's going on.
08:26So I think that's made a big difference to the coverage this year.
08:29Someone once described to me the act of commentating as,
08:32you should commentate as if you're describing the game
08:34to a mate of yours who's gone to the kitchen to make a cup of tea.
08:37Because normally if a mate of mine does that,
08:40I'll just pretend there's a goal.
08:42LAUGHTER
08:44Kate said, is it OK the best mullet so far has been on Para GB?
08:48Then added, sorry, Adam, Zak Skinner is out mulleting the Aussies.
08:52Now, she's referring to this guy.
08:55I'm... I know.
08:57As far as I'm concerned, that's cultural appropriation.
08:59LAUGHTER
09:01That is not on. That right there is our Elgin Marbles.
09:04LAUGHTER
09:06And in fact, we were talking about this the other night.
09:08Lauren Rowles is here from GB Rowing, and she pointed out to me,
09:12I mean, you've got... Is yours a mullet?
09:14Oh, most definitely, yeah. Yeah.
09:16I'm rocking it.
09:17You were saying that I needed mine shaved around the sides, right?
09:20Yeah, you need a little bit more putty in the back,
09:22so you need a little bit more cutting to the back.
09:24Yeah. Get the curls rocking a little bit more, yeah.
09:26Are you willing to do that on air at the end of tonight's show?
09:29Hell yeah.
09:30LAUGHTER
09:32All right.
09:33CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
09:37I mean, it's all... Adam?
09:39Yeah, yeah.
09:40Are you OK?
09:42You're going to go back from the Paralympics with tattoos and a mullet.
09:46Yeah.
09:47I'm worried you're going to ride back to Australia on a Harley Davidson.
09:50You are going to look like you've been on an 18 to 30.
09:53LAUGHTER
09:54No, so Lauren's going to give me short sides,
09:57long at the back for the end of the show.
09:59By the way, short sides, long at the back is a Paralympic category.
10:02LAUGHTER
10:05I like that joke.
10:06Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:07It's been a strong couple of days for Paralympics GB, though.
10:09Yesterday, swimmer...
10:10Are you ready for the medals? Are you ready for the medals?
10:12Always.
10:13OK.
10:14Yesterday, swimmer Faye Rogers,
10:16and today, cyclist Dame Sarah Storey,
10:18wheelchair fencer Dimitri Cuccia,
10:20and wheelchair racer Sammy Kinghorn won...
10:22Goal!
10:23CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
10:29..wheelchair racer Sammy Kinghorn.
10:31Yesterday, fencer Piers Gulliver,
10:33swimmers Callie-Anne Warrington, Alice Tai,
10:35poppy masculine Reece Darby,
10:36cyclist Fran Brown,
10:37and Sophie Unwin with pilot Jenny Hull,
10:39powerlifter Zoe Newsome,
10:40and wheelchair tennis players Andy Lapthorne and Greg Slade
10:43took out...
10:44SILVER BELL!
10:45CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
10:47SILVER BELL!
10:51And equestrian riders Georgia Wilson,
10:53Sophie Wells and Natasha Baker,
10:55sprinter Zach Shaw,
10:56shooter Tim Jeffery,
10:57and cyclist Laura Fackie with pilot Corinne Hull
11:00got the tick of approval from Peter Andre.
11:03Bronzer, mate.
11:04CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
11:12Meanwhile, Paralympics GB are through to the semifinal
11:15of the men's wheelchair basketball,
11:16and Alfie Hewitt is through to the semifinals
11:18in the men's wheelchair tennis singles,
11:20so good luck to all of those guys.
11:22Look, in the last two days, though, Australia...
11:25Are you ready for this?
11:26Australia have won three gold medals!
11:28CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
11:32Don't boo!
11:34Which means the Paralympic medal table
11:36currently looks like this.
11:38But the GB versus Australia face-off,
11:40I mean, we're going to have to extend the Eiffel Tower,
11:43I think, tomorrow night.
11:44We've gone up a little bit, but it looks like that.
11:47However, I'm not conceding.
11:48No?
11:49I'm not conceding.
11:50I'm pinning my hopes on a guy called Curtis McGrath.
11:52He's in para-canoe.
11:53OK.
11:54And if you think...
11:55I mean, you guys thought Curtis McGrath
11:57was the Aussiest name ever at the last game.
11:59Yeah.
12:00But Curt McGrath from para-canoe.
12:02That's proper.
12:03That sounds like that's where he was born.
12:06I think he's a really strong chance.
12:08I think he's going to bring home a couple of golds.
12:10And look at him.
12:11By that, do you mean 34 golds?
12:13I think he might.
12:14Can we get his photo back up?
12:15Look at the guy.
12:16He's an absolute...
12:17In Alex's words, he's a dream boat.
12:19Or, look at that.
12:20Hey?
12:21All right?
12:22A dream canoe, I would say.
12:24Which is why today Australia's button sounds like this.
12:37Right?
12:38Right?
12:39Elsie's breakdown continues.
12:42The big story yesterday was in the pool, though,
12:44as GB's Faye Rogers won gold in the S10 100m butterfly
12:49in her first Paralympic Games.
12:51Here's how she did it.
12:53It's going to be gold and silver to Great Britain.
12:55Where's it going to go?
12:56Is it going to be Rogers?
12:58Warrington, all on the finish, is Rogers!
13:01She's the Paralympic champion.
13:03Warrington takes the silver.
13:05What a race that was.
13:07But Faye Rogers comes out on top.
13:19Now, we've been asking athletes, you know,
13:21when they get a medal, to maybe give this,
13:23like the little hand sign, like our little hands,
13:25like Alex's hands.
13:27We can claim a lot of things,
13:29but I think we've got to give Alex the credit
13:31for having those hands.
13:32Yes, absolutely, like Alex's hands.
13:34Now, Faye didn't, but if we have a look at it again,
13:36have a look at the guy over her...
13:38I think it's over her right shoulder.
13:44Yes!
13:45Yes, there's the hands in the crowd!
13:47There was one in the crowd.
13:49And look, he wasn't the only person.
13:51He's still doing it, by the way.
13:53There, play to you, sir.
13:56Unless that's how he waves.
13:59There is that, there is that.
14:01Apologies if we've got that wrong.
14:02He wasn't the only person throwing hands at the pool, though.
14:04Emily said, is it OK?
14:05Just spotted a hand signal in the women's 200m medley S14
14:09from Poppy Maskell, and she attached this screen grab.
14:13Poppy's giving it hands!
14:15Oh, yes!
14:16Oh, well done, Poppy Maskell.
14:18She's taking over the world!
14:20And look, there was morning glory for Sarah Storey today
14:23as the dame of paracycling won gold
14:25in the C5 individual time trial in typically emphatic fashion.
14:32All eyes now on dame Sarah Storey.
14:35She can see the finishing line in front of her.
14:37Will she get there in time to claim the gold medal?
14:41Sprinting for all she is worth,
14:44getting every last ounce out of herself
14:47to claim the gold medal.
14:49Has she done it?
14:50She's won it.
14:52It's another chapter written in Sarah's remarkable story.
14:56It's nine games now, 18 golds.
15:0329th.
15:0529th Paralympic medal, 18th gold.
15:08Is she in line for a golden hands, do you think?
15:10I think she's got to do a little bit more, don't you?
15:14I think she's a flash in the pan.
15:17I think we need to get her...
15:19We'll see, because she's got another race on Friday, hasn't she?
15:22Yes, yeah, yeah.
15:23It'd be good if she could win one more medal.
15:25Just one more, I think we'll get her over the line for it.
15:27But I found it really interesting afterwards,
15:29because obviously dame Sarah Storey was delighted to win the gold,
15:33but was complaining about...
15:34They were all complaining about the course.
15:36Yes.
15:37Basically, they were saying normally it's about 22km,
15:39but this one was only, like, 14?
15:41Yes.
15:42I was like, if I turned up as a cyclist
15:45and they were like,
15:46by the way, you've got to do, like, 8km less,
15:48I'd be like, this is an absolute touch.
15:51If I turned up tonight and they said the show's 20 minutes,
15:54I'd have gone, fucking get in.
15:59Also, I quite like the irony of Paralympians
16:02moaning that something's not as complete as they'd like.
16:07Look, earlier tonight at the fencing,
16:09Dimitri Kutia took out his first ever gold medal like this.
16:14On gold.
16:15Dimitri Kutia.
16:17OK, on it.
16:18Needing one more point.
16:20Dimitri Kutia, Paralympic champion.
16:23He demolished the two-time champion.
16:33Now, you watch that clip and you go,
16:35I just admire that basically within a second
16:38he's taken his mask off.
16:40Yeah.
16:41And forgot the sword.
16:43What I love about Dimitri Kutia is we went on Wikipedia
16:46to check, is this his first gold medal?
16:48Not only did we find out...
16:50I'm glad that you're using a good source.
16:52Not only did we find out it was his first gold medal,
16:54his Wikipedia had already been updated
16:56to include this one nine minutes after he won it.
16:59I love the idea that he did it himself.
17:03That's why he was taking his helmet off so quickly.
17:05Straight on the phone.
17:08That's not true either.
17:11The big story tonight was when GV's Sammy Kinghorn
17:14faced off in the 100m final,
17:16chasing her first ever Paralympic gold medal.
17:19Here's her race and here's Ivo Graham's reaction.
17:22Who was there?
17:26De Bruyne has made a good start but Kinghorn
17:28almost level with her and the defending champion
17:30Gao going well on the far side.
17:34Kinghorn has the edge here.
17:36What a moment this would be for the British athlete.
17:38Oh yes! Oh yes!
17:41Sammy Kinghorn turns two silvers to gold
17:45and it's a new Paralympic record.
17:48Sammy Kinghorn.
17:50So delighted.
17:52I've never heard commentators more delighted at a gold medal.
17:57Last night we sang for Stephen Maguire.
18:00Remember we were Stephen Maguire.
18:02Your butcher is terrifying, Stephen Maguire.
18:05Your butcher is terrifying, Stephen Maguire.
18:09Your butcher is terrifying, Stephen...
18:11We're not doing the next bit.
18:13We'll do that later.
18:15What we thought for tonight was...
18:17I was thinking of songs for Sammy Kinghorn.
18:19Then I was thinking Kinghorn on the road,
18:21Kinghorn to be wild.
18:23Then we thought let's break it out.
18:25What other songs should we have for Paralympians?
18:28Oh, there we go.
18:30I've already committed to the Stephen Maguire song
18:33and I've done my own twice now.
18:36Messages at the last leg, use the hashtag Parasongs.
18:39We'll go through them at the end of the show.
18:41We've been giving a hand to an athlete
18:43that gave us the moment of the day.
18:45He is so in demand right now,
18:47even the official Paralympics account tweeted to say
18:50who do we give our address to so that we can get one of these?
18:53There it is.
18:55I'll tell you what, Paralympics, I'll exchange it for a gold medal.
19:00Absolutely fair trade.
19:02There have been plenty of people having their own moments
19:05at the Games, romantic moments.
19:07We're in the city of love, we're in Paris,
19:09and I think a lot of the athletes have come over here
19:12with their other halves.
19:14I thought, actually, while I'm here,
19:17if I've got one knee, I might as well get down on it.
19:20Have a look at this.
19:24Looks like a proposition happening here.
19:30Paris is well and truly the city of love.
19:36As you're kindly sending the cameraman over to Oliveira,
19:41well, I think it's a marriage proposal.
19:47I mean...
19:52The, er...
19:54The last proposal there, I assume, was aimed at someone.
19:57It did kind of look like they were just holding up a song.
19:59Anybody want to ring?
20:01But you know what, it's not just been marriage proposals, mate.
20:04You know, as people know, there's always kind of a baby boom
20:07during a big sporting event,
20:09and this year's Paralympics are no different.
20:11We got sent someone's ultrasound scan today,
20:14and honestly, it brought a tear to our eyes.
20:16Have a look at this.
20:20I told you, his motto, work hard, play harder.
20:23That little bug has been playing.
20:27And so who gets the hands today?
20:29So, today, the hands goes to, first of all, James Dixon,
20:35who we found the guy, James Dixon,
20:37who was the guy in the background.
20:40We managed to track him down.
20:42So, James, just for being in the background and not actually competing,
20:46you get a hand.
20:51Of course, look.
20:53We can't...
20:56We couldn't give one to the person in the background
20:59without awarding one to the deserving athlete in the foreground.
21:02Yeah.
21:03Faye Rogers, who was, you know,
21:05was having trials to be in the Tokyo Olympics team.
21:08Yes.
21:09And three years ago, had a serious car accident,
21:12and this is her first Paralympics and she won gold.
21:15So, she's a deserving recipient of today's Little Hands Club,
21:19and this is what she had to say.
21:22I just want to say a massive thank you for all the support.
21:26Last night was amazing.
21:28I couldn't have asked for a better swim.
21:30It was such a close race, but I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
21:35Winning a gold medal is insane.
21:37It is so cool, but not as cool as winning this bad boy.
21:42So, a big thanks.
21:48All right, let's welcome tonight's guest,
21:50an actor who can tango and a comedian who was schooled at Eton.
21:53She won Strictly. He was just educated Strictly.
21:55Please welcome Rose Eiling-Ellis and Ivo Graham.
22:09Welcome.
22:10Hi.
22:11Hi.
22:12Hi.
22:13Ivo, I'm going to start with you.
22:15You arrived today.
22:16Now, we've been getting comedians over here to go to the Games,
22:19then they go back to their hotel and they get changed
22:21and then they come here for the show.
22:23What a waste. What a terrible waste of a great opportunity.
22:25You've been out all day at every event you can get to.
22:28Yes, but what a hard-working man I am.
22:30I'm the real hero of all of this, actually.
22:32I've watched some Paralympics.
22:34I can't... May I just say, it's been such a great day,
22:38and may I also say that my daughter is five.
22:41I was with her yesterday and she started year one at school today.
22:44Sorry, I saw that the child stuff was playing very well earlier.
22:49LAUGHTER
22:51I missed her first day of school cos I was at Roland Garros.
22:54Yes!
22:55I Facetimed from Roland Garros, she didn't understand,
22:57but it was fantastic.
22:59And, look, Rose, how's the experience been for you
23:02of hosting on Channel 4?
23:04It's been a great experience. It's so tiring.
23:06I never realised how exhausting live show is,
23:10but I couldn't ask for a better person to be with,
23:12it's just Claire and also Ellie,
23:14but maybe by the end of it I could have my own chat show
23:17and I would know what to call it.
23:19What? The Last Year.
23:21LAUGHTER
23:23APPLAUSE
23:29Is there a sport you'd love to have a go at?
23:32Oh, I would love to try the table tennis.
23:34They look so intense, it's like...
23:36I would love to try that.
23:38Do you have a partner?
23:40Do I have a partner? This one.
23:42Your signer?
23:43She's brutal.
23:44We play it really nice and gentle,
23:46and then she just out of the blue goes...
23:48She's brutal.
23:52I mean, are you ever worried when you're on set with her now?
23:56Oh, yeah, yeah.
23:58LAUGHTER
24:00And, look, you're right, live television is incredibly tiring.
24:03I've said it before and I'll say it again,
24:05do you know the secret of making great live television?
24:08Stand next to Claire Balding.
24:10Yes, yes.
24:11I think it would be a car crash without a Claire next to me
24:14because she is so... I can't believe it.
24:17Because a lot of people don't realise
24:19it gets changed every three minutes.
24:22And then how do you deal with that?
24:24Because you've got voices coming at you and also signs coming at you.
24:27Which normally it'd be Kirsty behind the camera
24:29and she'd quickly tell me and she'd say,
24:31oh, Grace said we're doing this and that in three minutes.
24:33I'm like, OK, OK.
24:34And then she's like, oh, Grace changed it in one minute,
24:36we're doing this.
24:37And then first she's like, no, you're doing this.
24:39And then I'll be like, oh, oh, OK, you changed it.
24:42We've got video of you suddenly realising
24:44you have to wrap up within, like, ten seconds.
24:46Oh, we still haven't got a perfect goodbye yet.
24:49You haven't got a perfect goodbye? OK, have a look.
24:54If you would like to carry on watching action
24:56from the Paralympic Games, then head over to Channel 4,
25:00heading to the news before catching up
25:02with all the highlights from today's Italian Grand Prix.
25:05Bye. Bye-bye.
25:06Bye!
25:10CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
25:12It's becoming my new thing now.
25:14It's becoming my new thing now.
25:16Oh, yeah, yeah. I want you to do it for every ad break
25:19when I'm going to the ad break tonight, please.
25:21I can do that easier.
25:23And look, Ivo, if you were to compete, what would you do?
25:26Never mind that. Can we talk more about my day?
25:30Also, can I take my bucket hat off?
25:32Because it's mine, and I paid for it,
25:35but I was told to wear it for the continuity,
25:37but I can't wear it all show, ideally.
25:40So, I watched Gordon Reed playing in the wheelchair test.
25:44It was incredible.
25:45He played a fantastic match
25:47against Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina,
25:49and obviously it's one big community.
25:51Liberté, égalité, fraternité,
25:53but I hated Gustavo Fernandez by the end.
25:56But I was willing on Gordon Reed,
25:58and then he sadly lost.
26:00I met him afterwards, I had a hands,
26:02but we weren't allowed to give him the hands
26:04because he hadn't won gold.
26:05I was still told to bring the hands,
26:07to sort of taunt Gordon Reed.
26:09Ivo, I have to let you know,
26:10I'm being told we have to go to a break.
26:12Great, have a great break.
26:13If you want to see the footage of that, you can watch online.
26:16If you want to see the rest of Ivo's sentence, also go online.
26:19We'll post that later.
26:20We'll have more Last League 3U in Paris after the break.
26:23Before we bring some GB gold out to the studio,
26:25we want to know what song should we have
26:27for Paralympians' messages of the last leg.
26:29Use the hashtag Parasong.
26:31Bye! Bye!
26:36CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
26:48Welcome back to the last leg.
26:50We're joined by Rose Ayling, Alice and Ivo Graham.
26:53Someone has said,
26:54is it OK to ask what the British sign language sign for France is?
26:59France.
27:00Oh, is it?
27:01The moustache.
27:02The moustache. Oh, lovely. There you go.
27:04And someone else said, Ash said,
27:05is it OK Ivo sounds like a kid
27:07who's just discovered Christmas for the first time?
27:10Don't break the spell.
27:12I don't care how jaded you are, I've had the best day!
27:15Good!
27:16It's time for a trio of gold now as we welcome to the studio
27:19triathletes Dave Ellis and Megan Richter
27:21and boccia champion Stephen Maguire!
27:24CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
27:35CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
27:44Welcome, welcome to you all.
27:46Thank you for bringing the medals.
27:48I'm going to start with you, Dave,
27:50but I just want to show the moment you won gold for everybody.
27:55Dave Ellis, from the heartache three years ago,
27:59it is going to be glory here in the French capital.
28:04Dave Ellis, you are the Paralympic champion.
28:08A perfect moment in Paris.
28:10He's taken the gold.
28:12CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
28:19Dave, there's laughter from the other triathletes here.
28:22Was that your guide getting excited?
28:24Is that why they're laughing?
28:26Yeah, he was pretty excited, wasn't he?
28:28Is he, like, your hype man?
28:30Like, I love that you crossed and he's just cheering behind you.
28:33I'd say probably wingman, you know, he's in the RAF,
28:35so...
28:36Oh, are you feeling OK out here without him now?
28:39It feels a bit weird for him to be here.
28:41OK, do you want to come out? Is it Luke?
28:43Yeah.
28:44CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
28:48Can you just stand behind Dave?
28:50Oh, I've got a microphone for you.
28:52I've got a microphone for you.
28:54Take this, stand behind Dave, and after he answers a question,
28:57just give him a big up, just whooping and cheering, OK?
29:00I can do this.
29:01Alex has got a question for him.
29:03Yeah, so, basically, I noticed that the triathlon,
29:06it was postponed by a day because of poor water quality.
29:10But how much confidence do you have in the water quality
29:14if one day it's too shitty for you to swim there
29:18and then they go, but in 24 hours, yeah, that should be fine?
29:22I think, well, I can't see, so I was just, you know,
29:25I can't see the poo floating past me.
29:27LAUGHTER
29:29Give him some hugs, give him a...
29:32We're gone!
29:34LAUGHTER
29:37And now, Megan, you've won silver and bronze
29:39in swimming events previously, but this gold is in triathlon,
29:43so at what point did you think, you know what,
29:45swimming's not working out for me,
29:47I think I need to add cycling and running into the mix?
29:50Well, swimming eight times a week kind of makes you lose the will to live
29:53and now I only have to do it three times a week, so...
29:56LAUGHTER
29:58Excellent answer. I think you can big up that answer as well, Luke.
30:00Yeah, come on, guys, wahey!
30:02LAUGHTER
30:04APPLAUSE
30:06Are you all right to just stay for the rest of the last flags
30:09for the rest of the series?
30:10Not for you.
30:12LAUGHTER
30:14And, Stephen, I mean, I love when you won,
30:17the Scottish flags were flying in the crowd as well.
30:19What did it mean to you to see the Soul Tire proudly up there?
30:22Yeah, it was really good.
30:23There's lots of Scottish within our squad,
30:26probably half Scottish, half English,
30:28so we've been trying to teach the English some Scottish words.
30:31It's been quite...
30:33Like what?
30:34Like heed, blether, scunnered.
30:37All these kind of words.
30:39Have you just sworn on tape?
30:41LAUGHTER
30:43And I don't know if you know,
30:44but Alex got a little bit of a chant going for you last night.
30:46Well, I tried.
30:48Well, shall we reprise it?
30:51I've really committed to this, Stephen, on live television.
30:54Twice now, we're about to go for it for the third time.
30:57But I can't believe that this wasn't played when you won gold.
31:00Are you ready? I'm ready.
31:01Please, no-one join in.
31:03LAUGHTER
31:04Please join in. Ready?
31:06ALL SING
31:08Your butcher is terrifying Stephen Maguire
31:11Your butcher is terrifying Stephen Maguire
31:15Your butcher is terrifying Stephen Maguire
31:19Your butcher is terrifying Stephen Maguire
31:33I mean, this is magic. This is magic stuff.
31:38LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE
31:43What is that song?
31:44It's fantastic, that song.
31:46LAUGHTER
31:47Freed from desire?
31:49I love it.
31:51I hope I get to hear it more.
31:53Please tell me you like it.
31:59It's been played in the apartment quite a lot.
32:05Maybe it's lucky that I can't hear it.
32:11Alright, thanks so much for joining us.
32:13Congratulations, you've done us all proud.
32:15We're so happy to have you here on the show.
32:25Now, Josh Pugh
32:27Josh Pugh has been out and about getting confessions
32:29Josh Pugh has been out and about getting confessions
32:31from Paralympians for us.
32:33Here's what he sent us today.
32:35Hello, update on the
32:37confessions hub. So, you might have seen
32:39in the open ceremony episode
32:41the plan was for me to speak to Paralympians
32:43and get their confessions.
32:45Confession of my own,
32:47I haven't done it.
32:49Several reasons. Reason one,
32:51I haven't been asked to do it.
32:53Reason two,
32:55I never really believed in it as a feature.
32:59Reason three, it turns out
33:01these athletes have trained for four years
33:03some of them their entire life
33:05for these moments
33:07and they've either achieved their dreams
33:09and want to be with friends and family
33:11or it hasn't gone their way
33:13and they're devastated.
33:15And it turns out, in that moment, the last thing they want to do
33:17is speak to somebody
33:19in a woman's fedora
33:21with porcelain balls
33:23serrated to the top of it.
33:25So, I've given up.
33:27And that is a message you won't hear anywhere else
33:29at the Paralympics, you know.
33:31Some things
33:33are too difficult
33:35and this is one of them.
33:41We'll have more
33:43Last Leg in Paris for you after the break
33:45as we catch up with gold medal winning archer and podcast host
33:47USA's Matt Stutzman
33:49plus we want to know, what songs should we have for Paralympians?
33:51Message us at the Last Leg
33:53use the hashtag Parasongs. Rose?
33:55Bye!
34:11Welcome back to
34:13Last Leg in Paris. We're joined by
34:15Rose Ayling Ellis and Ivo Graham.
34:17It's time now to welcome
34:19an archer, a podcast host,
34:21a world record holder and, as of a few days ago,
34:23a gold medalist
34:25from the USA. It's Matt Stutzman!
34:27How are you?
34:49Okay, we're going to explain
34:51those uniforms in a second.
34:53Oh, are we having an issue with Matt's mic there?
34:55Yeah, do you want to use this one?
34:57There you go.
34:59Is that a handheld?
35:01Oh, there we go. Is it back on?
35:03No, is that a handheld?
35:05Oh, this is a handheld. Oh yeah, that's the dummy.
35:15Oh, Hilsey!
35:17Best moment of your career!
35:19I was just going to stand.
35:21I was going to hold it.
35:23I wasn't expecting you to...
35:29Does that mean you have to stand
35:31behind me and hold the microphone like this?
35:33Yeah, absolutely. I'm willing to do that.
35:35Okay, cool.
35:37So, lovely to see you.
35:39So, like this?
35:45That's perfect.
35:47It's like a clip-on microphone.
35:49Basically, just with a hand.
35:51Yeah, I'll follow you everywhere.
35:53This is the first time I've seen you
35:55in the games, but Josh,
35:57you guys have both seen Matt earlier in the games, right?
35:59Yeah, so I bumped into Matt at the opening
36:01ceremony when we were walking in.
36:03It didn't even hurt.
36:05Well, Matt, I've got a bit of an issue.
36:07I bumped into you and I said hello
36:09and you were very polite and you said hello,
36:11but you had that look in your face.
36:13I often have in my face when someone
36:15says hello to me in a familiar fashion
36:17in the street and I've never seen them before either.
36:19And then Brooker showed up
36:21and a big smile
36:23went on your face
36:25and you suddenly realised who we were
36:27and you had no idea who I was.
36:29You know what it's like, though,
36:31with disabled people? It's like when taxi drivers
36:33nod at each other. Do you know what I mean?
36:35Game recognises game.
36:39I think it's because we've fist-bumped before.
36:41Yeah, we have, yeah. And I would have remembered
36:43the fist-bump, but...
36:45Do you think all non-disabled
36:47people look the same?
36:49I mean, they all have arms.
36:51Listen,
36:53congratulations on the gold medal.
36:55How does it feel to have one of those in your pocket?
36:57Actually, you want to see
36:59my medal? I brought it.
37:01I have to get it out.
37:03I've got to get it out of my
37:05pocket first, but
37:07I don't want to take my pants off.
37:09This is...
37:11Oh!
37:13Woo-hoo!
37:15This is probably
37:17the one medal you do not want to
37:19bite, because...
37:23It's been in my shoe for about six hours
37:25now, so... And listen, I want to show...
37:27You know, it's one thing to win a gold
37:29medal, but to be doing it when
37:31you pull out a shot like this...
37:33And you know what I'm about to show. This is one of the
37:35greatest archery shots you will ever see.
37:39Here's Stutzman.
37:41He's got a chance.
37:43Yes!
37:45Oh, I know.
37:47What about that from Stutzman?
37:49Absolutely extraordinary.
37:51Sport doesn't get better than that.
37:55This is what's incredible.
37:57What you don't see is the guy that I was shooting against.
37:59Yeah. When he shot
38:01his arrow, he was 19
38:03millimetres from the bullseye, which is not
38:05very far. Yeah. And he shoots
38:07and he starts smirking and smiling
38:09and he puts his hands on his bow like,
38:11I just won this.
38:13And then I shot and I was
38:15negative two millimetres.
38:19It's basically the equivalent of
38:21hitting a fly at 55
38:23yards or 50 metres.
38:25Wow. Yeah.
38:29Can you...
38:31Some people...
38:33Some people come on this show and they say,
38:35but we're all winners, really. And I love Matt
38:37Let me tell you about this loser.
38:41It was so important
38:43because that was the gentleman who beat me
38:45in the London Games and
38:47I got a silver there
38:49so that's why that was important for me
38:51to, like, kind of, you know, reclaim
38:53what was rightfully mine.
38:57And listen, in amongst all this, you're also doing
38:59a podcast with Michael Johnson, is that right?
39:01Oh, yeah. The four-time
39:03Olympic runner.
39:05Yes, it's incredible. It's Rising Phoenix.
39:07It's called What Does It Take?
39:09We talk to a lot of athletes with physical
39:11disabilities and I'm amazed
39:13that all these athletes that I'm
39:15talking to, they're not just athletes,
39:17they're lawyers in between
39:19and they're going to college and getting all these degrees
39:21and I'm like, where do you find the time?
39:23I'm just trying to compete right now.
39:25Well, listen, because of
39:27your achievements, Alex has got something special.
39:29Mate, so we've been
39:31making people members of the Little Hands Club
39:33and for hitting one of the greatest
39:35shots of all time, being a
39:37gold medalist, but more importantly,
39:39pying off Josh in favour of
39:41me.
39:43We've got you a little, we've got you a hand,
39:45he's got a little golden bow and arrow.
39:47There we go, it's a little custom-made hand.
39:49Oh my goodness.
39:51There you go, man.
39:53There you go, get it on there.
39:55There you go. Now, it's time to
39:57replicate on the podium.
39:59Yeah.
40:01There you go.
40:03Thank you, thank you.
40:05I'm sorry, we were going to do Josh and Alex
40:07covering the Smaller Nations, which is why they're

44:21In 1972, Great Britain's Margaret Morn
