00:00A Harry Potter-themed wedding venue, Rotherham's first cinema since 1990, and results for two
00:06food manufacturers.
00:07That's all coming up on today's Business Briefing.
00:16My name's Alice Bird.
00:17And I'm Adam Beach.
00:18Well, Adam, film and food seems to be the theme of today's briefing.
00:23Yeah, good combination.
00:24It is.
00:25So I'll kick things off with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings-themed wedding venue,
00:30which has been put up for sale.
00:32So it could be yours for just £1.25 million.
00:36So Northshire is based on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.
00:40It's near Saltburn, and it offers a number of themed holiday homes.
00:45They include Shire House, which mimics Hobbits Abode, The Dorm, which is inspired by Hogwarts'
00:50Gryffindor dormitories, and the Groundkeeper's Cottage, which, of course, is based on Hagrid's
00:55Hut.
00:56So owner Carol Cavendish has put up the site, which spans nearly five acres, for sale.
01:01So she's seeking a new challenge.
01:05So included in the sale price are quite a few different things.
01:08Having a look at it, it's actually quite an interesting concept.
01:12So there are obviously the themed cottages.
01:14There's also seven shepherd's huts.
01:17There's one self-catering cottage, which is styled like a French chateau.
01:21There's also caravan pitches, a fairy tale-themed wedding barn, and the owner's own three-bedroom
01:27cottage.
01:28So do you fancy that?
01:29Well, I'd hope the Hobbits Abode is human scale, otherwise I might be slightly too tall
01:34for it.
01:35Yeah, hopefully.
01:36But it sounds good.
01:37Yeah, it is interesting.
01:38And film is actually a big theme of a regeneration project in Rotherham.
01:44The Arc Cinema has now opened its doors in the town, and it's actually the first cinema
01:48in the town since 1990, which is amazing to hear.
01:52It's the centerpiece of the Forge Island Regeneration Project, and it features eight screens and
01:58two Hypersense screens.
01:59I'm not sure what Hypersense screens are, but it sounds exciting.
02:03And the cinema has recruited a 30-strong team to operate the cinema.
02:07Now Rotherham's actually my hometown, and I can say that as a film fan, it's very frustrating
02:12having to travel to Sheffield to go watch a film.
02:15So it's about time something like this exists in Rotherham town centre.
02:18It's really good for the town, and hopefully helps revitalise the town centre, which does
02:23need it.
02:24Yeah.
02:25Do you think that'll be your first port of call when you go home next?
02:27Yeah, next time I visit home, I'll definitely check the cinema out and report back.
02:31Just not even go and see your parents, just go straight to the cinema.
02:35Straight to the cinema, yeah.
02:36Well, moving on from film, we have some newly filed accounts for the company behind the
02:40Skinny Whip snack bar.
02:43So Halo Foods actually originated as a honey farm, but it's now known for its low-calorie
02:48products, which include Skinny Whip, Skinny Dream, and Skinny Crunch.
02:53My parents are actually on a bit of a health kick, so every time I go home, they just have
02:56loads of Skinny Whips in the house.
02:58But they are really nice.
03:01So they have hailed another period of significant progress, which included increased turnover
03:07and profits.
03:08So in their most recent financial year, profits increased to £3.9 million.
03:13Turnover also rose from £42.6 million to £47.1 million.
03:19Now looking to the future, they are very upbeat.
03:22They said that they're going to look to build on the successes of the past year, and they
03:26said that the next year holds significant opportunity.
03:29So good to see them doing well.
03:31Yeah, very good.
03:32And it's also good to see that another company has posted strong financial results.
03:38Onua Foods has hailed a stable performance, with turnover surging past the £500 million
03:43mark to £523.8 million.
03:46Profits held steady at about £11.6 million.
03:51And the company is behind the Pilgrim's Choice cheese brand, which I'm sure we've all seen
03:56in shops.
03:57It's very common.
03:58During the financial year, 2023, the business said it continued to invest in capital expenditure
04:03and marketing.
04:04Now, importantly, this included investment in cheese cutting and packing technology at
04:09its facility in Leek, Staffordshire.
04:11So good for the Staffordshire area.
