00:00The reactions now are coming in thick and fast as you mentioned the France
00:04Unbowed Party, La France Insoumise, Jean-Luc MĂ©lenchon speaking live. He's
00:09saying that the result has been stolen from the French. We had Marine
00:12Tendelier on the Greens who was of course part of that left-wing alliance
00:16with MĂ©lenchon. She's saying are they mocking us? The question they're asking
00:22is how is it that the left wing, that left-wing alliance, that the new popular
00:27front, how is it that it won the most seats in Parliament and yet the Prime
00:31Minister, the next Prime Minister of France is Michel Barnier, a long-standing
00:35right-wing politician. How can that be? Well the answer is because the left did
00:41not win an overall majority and so Macron has chosen the Prime Minister
00:46which he believes can get the support of Parliament. That will mean Michel
00:49Barnier, depending on centrist politicians from Emmanuel Macron's party
00:55as well as of course his own party, the right-wing Les RĂ©publicains party but
00:59also we understand from the far right and we have had a reaction from Marine
01:04Le Pen saying at least Michel Barnier seems able to respect the different
01:10political forces in Parliament moment and that will obviously include her
01:15party and that will be useful she says because compromises will be made. Of
01:18course we have a very divided hung Parliament here in France. Michel
01:22Barnier's next job will be trying to get the support of members of Parliament
01:26because if he doesn't they could simply overthrow him in a vote of no confidence.
01:30Claire, thank you very much for that.
