00:00Hi, I'm Rachel from The Scotsman here.
00:03Hollywood is back today after a sour recess, which means I am back to doing my commute from Perth to Edinburgh.
00:08It's a very long commute, so let's get going.
00:14That's me now on the 7am train from Perth to Edinburgh.
00:19While I'm on the train here, I sit and write the Stingy More Anthologist Newsletter, so sign up for that if you haven't done so already.
00:30That's me now on the Royal Miles. We're very, very, very close to Parliament now and getting into work. Almost there.
00:59One thing that's quite interesting to note is if we get there, my ticket today costs ┬г14.25 with a railcard.
01:06My railcard runs out in October and in a few weeks' time, peak railfares are getting reintroduced on ScotRail trains.
01:13So when both of those things happen, that ticket will actually cost me ┬г34.30, which is a massive jumping price.
01:20Look forward to it.
01:23Ta-da-da!
01:28That's us now, made it to Parliament after 14 stops and 2 hours and 20 minutes travelling.
01:34It is only 50 miles away, but it takes a long time to get here.
01:38So if there's anybody here that's watching this, if you can make a difference, please, please, please open a new line between Perth and Edinburgh,
01:45because there's no way that in 2024 it should take this long, especially because it took quicker in Victorian times.
01:51We're getting to work now.
