00:05off the Italian island of Lampedusa.
00:08According to senior official of the United Nations Agency for Refugees, Chiara Cardelletti,
00:13seven migrants were rescued in critical conditions and taken to Lampedusa.
00:18The United Nations official informed that the vessel was drifting half-submerged in
00:22the water and on the point of sinking with the seven survivors on board, all of them
00:28men of Syrian nationality.
00:30The migrants had reportedly left Libya on September 1 with 28 people on board, three
00:35of them minors, of whom 21 had fallen in the water because of bad weather conditions.
00:40Over 3,000 migrants were reported missing in 2023 after attempting to cross the Mediterranean
00:47from North Africa.
