00:00Until now, I've never really had a town to call my own.
00:30We used to move a lot, and it seems like I was always making new friends and then telling them goodbye.
00:49My dad was a fighter pilot, which meant that he had to be gone a lot.
00:55But when he was home, well, those were the best times.
00:59Like my sixth birthday.
01:14That day, he brought me two gifts that I still carry with me.
01:19Happy birthday, son.
01:21One was a compass he brought back from somewhere far away.
01:24The other, a leather pocket Bible.
01:27He said that as long as I kept them close, my path would always be straight.
01:34I didn't really know what that meant then, but I knew that if my dad said it, it was true.
01:41And to me, it didn't matter that he flew a fighter jet or had a shirt full of medals.
01:46He was my dad, and that made him my hero.
01:51And that was the last time I ever saw him.
01:56No one knows for sure what really happened.
01:59They list him as missing in action.
02:01And well, it's always been a real mystery.
02:07Anyway, after a couple months, Mom and I went to go live with Dad's folks in a town called Ambrosia.
02:14It's a pretty small place, and most of the people who stop here are just passing through.
02:23My grandpa, Pop Ballard, owns the Last Chance Gas and Diner.
02:27He also runs the local airstrip that sits out back.
02:30Hi, hon. Did you get everything?
02:33Mom usually does the book work, but when it gets busy, she helps Grandma in the diner.
02:38Yeah, that's me.
02:40I guess I've grown up a lot since Dad, well, disappeared.
02:45But I've never stopped wondering what happened to him.
02:54Anyway, a bunch of friends and I started a detective agency.
02:58And Pop lets us use his old V-17 for our headquarters.
03:02Sure, we're just kids and all.
03:04But sometimes, we're the only hope for people who have a mystery to solve.
03:08We call ourselves the Last Chance Detectives.
03:15Mike!
03:16Hey, Ben, what's up?
03:18Check it out.
03:19Silver Surfer Number One.
03:21Commit Condition.
03:23Cool.
03:24This is the one where you get to see all the secrets.
03:27I hate to interrupt this deep discussion about comic books,
03:30but don't we have a meeting to begin?
03:32Winnie, this is not just a comic book.
03:35This is John Buzema at the top of his art form.
03:39This is Stan Lee at his literary peak.
03:43It's a milestone.
03:45It'll turn your brain into mush.
03:47Oh, yeah?
03:48Well, for your information, this is the first comic book I've ever seen.
03:52It'll turn your brain into mush.
03:54Oh, yeah?
03:55Well, for your information, this is gonna be worth a lot of money someday.
04:00See what I mean?
04:03Hi.
04:04Spence, where you been?
04:06Sorry I'm late.
04:07Hey, Spence.
04:08Hi.
04:09Watch out for Winnie.
04:10She's in a bad mood.
04:12Well, this ought to cheer things up.
04:14Look who finally arrived.
04:16What's that?
04:18It's a super heterodyne tube.
04:22Oh, come on.
04:23For the radio.
04:24Remember?
04:25I've been trying to fix it.
04:27Oh.
04:29Yeah.
04:33So, Winnie, what have we got?
04:36Um, Miss Tug lost another cat last night.
04:40Eh.
04:41Coyote probably got it.
04:43No.
04:44And Mr. German's offering a $5 reward if anyone finds his mother's false teeth.
04:48Wait, I've got those.
04:51Do you think she'll notice the difference?
04:54Hey!
04:56Man, don't we have anything good for a change?
05:00All right, I admit these cases aren't much.
05:03But, hey, we've got to start somewhere.
05:05It's really a pretty good team.
05:09That's Spence, a real brain.
05:12His father's some kind of scientist studying desert geology in the area.
05:16Spence is our computer and forensics expert.
05:18Although it's kind of hard to think of something that he's not an expert in.
05:25Winona Whitefeather is a full-blooded Navajo.
05:28We call her Winnie for short.
05:30She has a temper like Donald Duck, but she's cool anyway.
05:33Her grandmother runs a trading post in town and is our pipeline to the latest news.
05:38If you have a question about Ambrosia, Winnie can either give you the answer or find it out.
05:43She also knows the desert like the back of her hand.
05:47And Ben, he does a lot of the legwork and generally fills in the cracks.
05:52That is, when we can pull him away from his TV set.
05:55He has more imagination than the rest of us put together.
05:59You know, the kind of guy who thinks every housefly is a killer being disguised.
06:03Keeps life interesting.
06:05As for me, well, I guess I'm what you'd call the leader.
06:09It's my job to hold this group together and find good cases to solve.
06:14It's not always easy.
06:16But sometimes the best mysteries pop up where you'd least expect them.
06:20That's all we got so far.
06:23There's got to be something better than a bunch of...
06:27Bingo!
06:35Good job, Spence.
06:37What can we do with it though? Monitor police or aviation frequencies?
06:41Not really.
06:43Nobody uses this band anymore.
06:46The technology is pretty primitive.
06:49I just thought we could use it to...
06:51Wait a minute.
06:57I thought you said...
06:58But there shouldn't.
07:00This frequency hasn't been used since...
07:02Listen.
07:07What is that, Spanish?
07:09It sounds like any language I've ever...
07:16It must be some kind of code.
07:18Weird.
07:19Weird with a beard.
07:21Sounded kind of like Natani.
07:24Hey, I've heard this kind of language before.
07:27Where?
07:28In Vitas for Mars.
07:30The part where the aliens are talking about how they're gonna...
07:32Sorry, Ben.
07:33A radio like this can only pick up transmissions from a few miles away.
07:37The space is definitely out.
07:39VLF, very low frequency.
07:41It's just garbled.
07:44Spence, is there any way that we can find out where it's coming from?
07:47It'd take Nifios.
07:49If I could modify this Omega receiver...
07:52We could lock onto the transmission and pinpoint its origin.
07:55Great.
07:56Go for it.
07:59Natani.
08:00What is that?
08:01Navajo for leader.
08:03Natani Naz means tall leader.
08:05What do you mean?
08:06Are the rock formation out on the mesa?
08:08Navajo mesa.
08:09Maybe we ought to go check it out.
08:11Now, hold on.
08:12What if it's just like an alien life form or something?
08:15Come on, Ben.
08:16Don't tell me now that we finally found a real mystery,
08:18you're turning chicken on us.
08:20Chicken?
08:21Winnie, I'm not a...
08:22Look, look.
08:23We'll put a vote to it, okay?
08:24All those in favor of investigating the mesa, say aye.
08:27Aye.
08:28All right.
08:29Last chance detectives are on the case.
08:35Man, how did I know this was going to happen?
09:05♪
09:35♪
10:05♪
10:35♪
10:45♪
10:50Hey, Winnie, can you give me a hand with this?
10:52Sure, but I know where we are.
10:55Here, just hold it against the map on this parallel.
10:58We'll see who's the real chicken watching this.
11:03Winnie!
11:04Scorpion!
11:07Ben!
11:08You called me a chicken.
11:10At least I didn't scream and dance around.
11:13You made me jump.
11:15Oh, Mike.
11:17Oh.
11:19You!
11:20It's just a joke.
11:22You broke the compass.
11:24No, I think you were the one holding on to it.
11:28Right, Spence?
11:30You don't know when to quit, do you, Ben?
11:32Don't you know when to keep your big mouth closed?
11:35It's just a compass.
11:36I'll buy a new one.
11:38It's not just a compass.
11:41It was Mike's, Ben.
11:43The one from his dad.
11:45Oh, Mike, I'm sorry.
11:49It was just an accident.
11:51Yeah, it was always just something.
11:53And I've worn him sick of it.
11:54Look, this never would have happened
11:56if we hadn't come out here in the first place.
11:58This wasn't my idea, remember?
12:01I'm not making you stay.
12:07All right.
12:09Fine, I'm out of here.
12:11So, are we still gonna investigate that rock formation?
12:14Nah, I don't really feel like it now.
12:17Maybe when you get the Omega fixed.
12:20Let's head back.
12:22Let's head back.
12:53It's this way.
12:55I think.
13:23It's, it's, it's just stupid.
13:26Just stupid.
13:52Ah!
13:56Ah!
14:02Ah!
14:23Well, I bet your grandpa would be happy
14:26to take a look at that for you.
14:28Thanks, Mom.
14:30You okay?
14:32Yeah.
14:40Hello, Gail.
14:42You ain't had famous apple pie left?
14:44I just sold the last piece, Smitty.
14:47It's waiting for you.
14:50Thanks.
14:59Well, working kind of late here tonight, Sheriff.
15:02Yeah, we got a case we're on.
15:05Not supposed to talk about it now.
15:07Oh.
15:09You mean the burglary down at the Cultural Museum.
15:12Well, see the cat's out of the bag.
15:16Sorry.
15:18The cat ate the bag.
15:25So much for top secret.
15:28Smitty, now things don't just vanish.
15:31What's this all about?
15:33Well, I've never seen anything quite like it.
15:36No windows broken, no doors forced.
15:39They didn't even set off the alarm.
15:41Arnold Wiens, the curator,
15:43he opened the place up in the morning.
15:45It was just gone.
15:49Now there's a real case.
15:51Maybe you ought to go see what's happening.
15:53Right here, an ambrosia.
15:55Mercy.
15:57Treasures.
15:59Now I thought they sent all that valuable stuff
16:01back to the Smithsonian.
16:03Well, not all of it.
16:05On top of that, some Aztec artifacts
16:07had just come in on loan from Mexico.
16:10They're gone, too.
16:15Well, I guess you got your work cut out for you.
16:18Not really.
16:20The missing Aztec pieces,
16:22that makes it an international incident.
16:25Now the FBI's on the case.
16:27They claim it's their jurisdiction.
16:33Did you hear that?
16:35An international incident right here in Ambrosia.
16:38All right, all those in favor of taking on the museum robbery,
16:41say aye. Aye.
16:44Winnie, what's wrong?
16:54Out of my way! Out of my way!
16:57Mike, you're not gonna believe this.
16:59Sheriff Spidey, oh, am I glad to see you.
17:02Howdy, Ben. What's the problem here, boy?
17:04Gotta call the Army, the National Guard.
17:06They're here!
17:08What, in the blue blazes? Who's here?
17:10The aliens! They're landing in the desert!
17:13They are!
17:19You almost had me going there for a minute.
17:22Sit down.
17:24I'm not kidding. Just an hour ago, out there,
17:26a UFO turned off my quadron
17:28and came at me with some kind of green Martian light.
17:31I barely escaped with my life!
17:35All right, Ben, you've had your fun.
17:37Honest, a UFO, I saw it.
17:39You've got to believe me!
17:41The last time I saw you this excited
17:44was when you called and said old Miss Tug was being robbed.
17:47Now, you said you saw a prowler crawl through her window.
17:51Only that was Miss Tug herself,
17:53because she'd locked herself out of the house.
17:55And then we show up with lights and sirens
17:58and surround her house,
18:00just about give the poor old lady a heart attack.
18:03Now you say the Martians are coming.
18:06Maybe after all our green cheese.
18:09Well, maybe I ought to call the president himself.
18:21Yeah, well, go ahead and laugh,
18:24but I'm telling the truth.
18:26And if you were any kind of sheriff,
18:29you'd be out there looking for evidence
18:31And if you were any kind of sheriff,
18:33you'd be out there looking for evidence
18:36instead of sitting here eating donuts and getting fat.
18:42Ben, you best get on homeboy.
18:45I'm not going anywhere. You hear me?
18:48Straight home.
18:50I'm going to call your parents to see that you do.
18:55You guys believe me, don't you?
19:02♪♪♪
19:10The kid has totally lost it.
19:23Pop, you in here?
19:25Over here, Mike.
19:27Over here.
19:29Yeah, Mom said you could take a look at my compass.
19:31I sure can.
19:33Yeah, let's go take a look.
19:40Now, this looks pretty bad, Mike.
19:43What happened?
19:44Ben.
19:46Oh, you mean Ben Jones, huh?
19:49I, um...
19:51I heard he made quite a scene last night,
19:53something about a UFO.
19:55Yeah, when he just says he wants attention
19:57after what he'd done.
19:58Oh, and, uh, you didn't believe him?
20:01Come on, Pop. UFOs? No.
20:04That sounds pretty crazy, but I'll tell you, Mike,
20:07he, uh, he swears that he saw something.
20:10He didn't see anything.
20:12Mike, you sure this isn't about the compass?
20:17You know, it sounds to me, Mike, like, uh,
20:19well, like you're calling your friend a liar.
20:22Maybe, uh, maybe because you're mad at him.
20:25Ben's not a liar, Pop.
20:28It's just...
20:30I feel so...
20:32I don't know.
20:34Uh-huh. Fog.
20:36What?
20:37It throws everything out of whack.
20:39If you decide to become a flyer like your dad,
20:42you're just gonna have to learn to deal with it.
20:46I had to learn to deal with it.
20:48Hit us a lot flying those 17s during the war.
20:52Fog.
20:54Black as oil.
20:56You know, we were on a mission one night over France,
20:59and that fog covered every square inch of that country,
21:02our side and the Nazi side.
21:04We didn't see one enemy fighter.
21:07They probably thought the fog got us, too.
21:09What happened?
21:11Mike, we lost our bearings.
21:13I didn't know right side up from upside down.
21:17We couldn't even find our own airfield.
21:20I was so scared.
21:23I was so scared, my mouth felt like sawdust.
21:26What happened after that?
21:28Our choice was to let her fly until the fuel ran out,
21:30and then ditch her, let her crash, and bail out.
21:34But you didn't.
21:36No, we didn't.
21:38We stuck with the instruments.
21:40You know, the compass and the rest.
21:42Because I knew that they were gonna take us back to that airfield,
21:45and bingo!
21:47We set her down on the money.
21:49Wow. Close call, huh?
21:51Still close.
21:53If we had trusted our feelings instead of our instruments,
21:57we wouldn't have made it.
22:00And think of this, Mike.
22:02You and I wouldn't even be having this conversation.
22:06Mike, life is full of foggy times,
22:11and you can't let your feelings make the decisions.
22:16That's why God gave us a compass.
22:19The Bible.
22:21Exactly.
22:23But what does that have to say about situations like, you know, Ben?
22:28Well, let me see.
22:31First of all, it says that a friend sticks closer than a brother.
22:36Here.
22:38Read that, Mike.
22:41Be kind to each other, tenderhearted,
22:44forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you,
22:48because you belong to Christ.
22:52This doesn't mean I have to believe this crazy story, though, does it?
22:55Well, no, not exactly.
22:57But it does mean that you shouldn't hold on to grudges.
23:03Mike, be tenderhearted.
23:09Now, as for this compass, it's looking a little rough.
23:12I'll tell you, we're gonna need some new parts,
23:14but together, together I bet we can fix her.
23:18Okay?
23:19Okay.
23:22Oh, Pop?
23:23Yeah?
23:24Thanks.
23:45Hey, what's going on?
23:48Mike, you're never gonna believe it.
23:50Spence is an absolute genius.
23:52Absolute genius?
23:54I thought he was just borderline genius.
23:56Aren't you just borderline genius, Spence?
23:58Yeah, I got that one hanging around for you guys.
24:01So, what am I looking at?
24:03This is the museum robbery case.
24:05This is the actual floor plan.
24:07The floor plan to the museum?
24:09Mm-hmm.
24:10Is this even legal, Spence?
24:12Of course.
24:13I simply accessed the public library's computer files,
24:16found the city's architectural records,
24:18and downloaded the museum's blueprints to my computer.
24:21Spence, you are an absolute genius.
24:23Okay, here's what we've got.
24:25Single-story building made up of about seven separate rooms.
24:28All doors and windows are marked.
24:31This is the lobby, the gift shop,
24:33three main display rooms, small shipping dock.
24:36Pretty basic layout.
24:38And there was no sign of entry.
24:40That's right.
24:41The paper reported that the security system is state-of-the-art.
24:44Nobody could possibly enter or exit through the doors or windows
24:47without being detected.
24:49What are these small rooms?
24:51These two are bathrooms.
24:53The other is probably some kind of closet.
24:58No, wait a minute.
25:03It's a staircase.
25:05But I've been there.
25:06It's a single-story building.
25:09Of course, a basement.
25:11Give me a second.
25:12There's one more screen I haven't pulled up yet.
25:15If there's some other way into the basement,
25:18the burglars could have come in through there.
25:21Well, you got one thing right.
25:23There is a basement.
25:24But unfortunately, no other doors or windows.
25:27Sorry, Mike. It was a good idea.
25:32What are these two squares?
25:34That's just some kind of drainage system
25:36someplace down the flood.
25:38Just the same.
25:39I think we should go down there and have a look.
25:41Get serious.
25:42Do you really think they'd let a bunch of kids
25:44interrupt an FBI investigation?
25:46There's got to be some way.
25:48But maybe we should wait for Ben to get back.
25:51Fat chance.
25:52My grandbrother told me she heard his parents grounded him.
25:54He's got to stay put until Smitty comes by.
25:56Smitty?
25:57Yeah.
25:58Smitty told Ben's parents he'd help him retrieve the Crowd Runner.
26:01I guess it shows there's no hard feelings.
26:03Boy, that's going to be a long drive.
26:09Um, Sheriff Smitty, sir?
26:12Hmm?
26:14I just wanted to say, well, apologize
26:19for what I said last night.
26:22I'm sorry.
26:26But I'm still sticking to my story about what I saw.
26:31Is that why you brought this thing?
26:34Yeah, you know, just in case.
26:39Well, I think you probably just ran out of gas last night.
26:43You sure we're heading in the right direction, Ben?
26:46I think so, sir.
26:48It should be just up ahead.
26:51All right.
27:01Just up ahead.
27:03We're losing the light here, Ben.
27:06I think we're getting closer.
27:14There's your quad, finally.
27:17I guess those basemen didn't want it, huh?
27:21Let's go have us a look.
27:23If it's okay, I'd kind of like to wait here.
27:28Suit yourself.
27:52It's all right.
27:54It's just as flooded.
27:59Ben, quit messing with the...
28:07Don't worry yourself, Ben.
28:09These things happen sometimes.
28:11No big deal.
28:15The desert is always so...
28:29Go, Ben! Go!
28:31Get out of here!
28:41Hey, Mr. Smitty, do you copy?
28:45I mean, Mr. Smitty, do you read me?
28:50No!
28:57I sure appreciate this, sir.
28:59Well, there's no need to thank me yet.
29:01I'm not even sure that museum is still open.
29:03But if it is, do you think you can get us in?
29:05Well, I can't make any promises,
29:07but Arnold Weems and I have been friends for...
29:09Pops, look out!
29:14Whoa.
29:16What'd that look like?
29:17Ben, he's headed for the share station.
29:20He sure is.
29:32Smitty, do you read me?
29:36Smitty, this is Arlene. Come in, please. Over.
29:40Why doesn't he answer?
29:42Ben, are you sure about all this?
29:45Honest, Pop, I wouldn't worry Arlene if I wasn't sure.
29:48And now that Smitty's seen it, too, you'll see.
29:52That is, if Smitty's all right.
29:54Mike.
29:56Smitty? Smitty, come in, please.
29:59It's okay, Arlene. I'm on my way in now. Over.
30:02What's happening out there? Over.
30:04Uh, nothing, really. We found the quad and...
30:07Listen, Ben's here, and he said that the engines went out
30:09and that a light came on and...
30:11Sheriff, tell him what we saw.
30:13Arlene, this channel is for official business, not gossip.
30:17Everything here is under control.
30:19My E.T.A. is three-zero minutes. Smitty out.
30:25Ben, have you ever heard about the little boy who cried wolf?
30:29But it's true. You've got to believe...
30:31Out! Now!
30:43Ben. Ben, wait up.
30:47You must think I'm a lunatic.
30:51No, Ben. No, I don't.
30:54But you don't believe me.
30:58I don't know what to believe, Ben.
31:02But I do know I believe in you.
31:06You're my best friend.
31:08And yesterday, with the compass,
31:11I never should have treated you that way.
31:14I'm sorry.
31:16Me, too.
31:18Still friends?
31:20You bet.
31:22But what about the others?
31:25I don't know.
31:27If only you had some world proof.
31:31My camera. I took a picture of the UFO.
31:36I can't believe you guys are falling for that again.
31:39Just you wait, Winnie. You'll see.
31:41Ben, you're letting it light.
31:43Sorry. Can you make anything out yet?
31:45It's just beginning to develop.
31:47Here it comes.
31:49Hey, something's appearing.
31:51Yeah, look at that. Something's coming through.
31:54Coming. Coming.
31:56Aha! What?
31:58What? Can you see it?
32:00Did it turn out? Yeah.
32:02It's a great shot of...
32:04Ben's finger.
32:06See? I knew it.
32:08I'm guessing all the excitement...
32:10Hold on. Ben's finger doesn't block the entire shot.
32:13What's this around it?
32:15Now that you mention it,
32:17there could be a light source in the top corner.
32:20And look how it fans out at the bottom.
32:22I told you I wasn't making this up.
32:24You know, I've been thinking.
32:26If it's really a spaceship,
32:28then maybe they brainwashed Sheriff Smitty.
32:30Don't you see?
32:32They brainwashed Sheriff Smitty to take over the town.
32:35Ambrosa, it could happen.
32:37Okay.
32:39Follow me.
32:48Look.
32:50Here's what we know.
32:52We picked up strange radio transmissions
32:54talking about the area around Navajo Mesa.
32:56Ben and Sheriff Smitty have both seen mystery lights in the area.
33:00Alleged mystery lights?
33:02But they've got to be connected somehow.
33:05We just need to pinpoint the source of the strange radio voice.
33:08Spence, how close are you to fixing the Omega receiver?
33:11I could probably have it working
33:13by the time you're done pumping gas tomorrow.
33:15That's it.
33:17All those in favor of switching to the mystery lights of Navajo Mesa,
33:20say aye. Aye. Aye.
33:22But we were just getting somewhere with the museum case.
33:24Spence?
33:26Aye.
33:28Oh, brother.
33:30Tomorrow, we head out to the mesa.
33:34Let's go.
33:52Spence, you still picking it up?
33:55Yeah. I got a lock on it.
33:57Let's check up there.
34:04Let's go.
34:19Nobody's been here for years.
34:21No tracks.
34:23No signs at all.
34:25This place gives me the creeps.
34:27Of course. The main entrance could be anywhere.
34:29This whole area is full of tunnels.
34:31Some of them run for miles.
34:33That's it. A different way in.
34:35Spence, what's the Omega reading?
34:37Are we close?
34:39Ground zero, amigo.
34:41This is the spot.
34:43We're on to something.
34:45Hey, check this out.
34:47Uh, I don't know.
34:49It looks abandoned.
34:51Whoa.
34:53I don't think we're supposed to be here.
34:55Come on. Let's go find the entrance.
34:57Hasn't anybody sent me notices?
34:59It's getting kind of late.
35:01Let's get out of here.
35:03Ben!
35:05Ben!
35:07Ben!
35:09Can you hear me?
35:11Are you all right?
35:13You guys stay here. I'm gonna go see if he's all right.
35:15Mike, be careful.
35:23Freeze!
35:27Mike!
35:29Mike!
35:31Mike, are you all right?
35:33Yeah, I'm okay.
35:35Pass me the flashlight.
35:37Here you go.
35:39Thanks.
35:43Ben, why didn't you answer us?
35:45We thought you were dead.
35:47Knocked the wind out of me.
35:51Well, we're not getting out this way.
35:53Mike! Mike!
35:55Do you see Ben? Is he okay?
35:57Yeah, he's all right.
35:59Spitz,
36:01you and Winnie keep an eye out on top.
36:03If we don't come out before dark
36:05or if you see anything strange,
36:07go get Sheriff Smitty.
36:09Affirmative!
36:11Strange? Like how strange?
36:13Maybe they should go now.
36:15Come on. Let's go check it out.
36:27You know,
36:29maybe we better not go too far.
36:31There's a bin in the tunnel up ahead.
36:33Come on. Let's go see what's around the corner.
36:35I'll wait for you here.
36:37Whatever.
36:39Mike,
36:41don't vampire bats live in caves like this?
36:43Nah, just snakes and spiders.
36:45Hey, Mike, wait up.
36:49There's something going on up here.
36:51Wait up!
36:53There's something going on up here.
37:21Aureo
37:23Ahoy, scaray.
37:25That's the radio voice.
37:27Mr. von Peretz,
37:29take a look.
37:33An Aztec ceremonial mask.
37:37Worth more than its weight in gold.
37:39Do you think they're onto us yet?
37:41No, no, no, my friend.
37:43By the time they discover our tunnel
37:45under the museum, we'll be in
37:47Casablanca.
37:51That's how they did it.
37:53They tunneled under the museum,
37:55came up through the grates in the basement,
37:57and hauled all the stuff back here underground.
37:59Mike, Mike,
38:01there's...
38:03Shh.
38:05You don't want them to hear us, do you?
38:15Well, now,
38:17what do we have here?
38:20It's getting dark.
38:22Where are they?
38:24Probably still looking for a way out.
38:26We'd better get going.
38:37We can search the tunnel
38:39and look outside.
38:43We wouldn't want to miss any of our
38:45visitors.
38:47Right.
39:17Ah.
39:30Getting a little restless?
39:48Come on.
39:54How are we gonna get out of here?
39:57They won't be able to stop us in this way.
39:59Keys in here. Come on.
40:07What's the matter?
40:09I don't know what to do.
40:11Hurry, Mike. Hurry.
40:13I think it's supposed to be out of here or something.
40:15I think it's supposed to be out of here or something.
40:45Did you find anything?
40:47No. Looks like they're alone.
40:49Just a couple of kids sticking their nose where they don't...
40:59Just a couple of kids, huh?
41:07Yeah!
41:09Bring us home, Mike!
41:12Get in and drive!
41:27Is she in front of them?
41:29I don't think so. Maybe we lost...
41:31Mike!
41:33Ah!
41:35Ah!
41:37Ah!
41:42Ah!
41:48Get them out of there!
41:50What's left of them.
41:56You know something?
41:58You two are starting to get on my nerves.
42:00Bring them up here.
42:07You gentlemen weren't going to leave
42:09without saying goodbye, were you?
42:11We're going to have to put a stop to this.
42:15Foolish.
42:26Ben! It's Mr. Wright!
42:35Put up your hands!
42:37This is the F.B.I. We're under arrest!
42:39Repeat!
42:41This is the F.B.I. We're under arrest!
42:43Mike! Ben!
42:45Over here!
42:51Mike! Ben!
42:53How did you get out?
42:55We got to get you out of there!
42:57Over here!
42:59Over here!
43:03Over here, Ben!
43:07Ben!
43:09Do you understand why I couldn't back you up
43:11on what you saw out there?
43:13It was the F.B.I.
43:15They didn't want anybody to know
43:17that they were looking for the smugglers' hideout.
43:19Oh.
43:21With a spaceship?
43:23Well, I got to admit, it sort of looked like one.
43:25But actually,
43:27it was a super quiet helicopter
43:29with special electronic gear
43:31that shuts down motors and electrical equipment.
43:33You know, when they saw us out there in the desert,
43:35they thought we were part of the smugglers' operation.
43:39But if the smugglers were underground,
43:41how would they know that the F.B.I.
43:43was looking for them?
43:45They were watching things in town.
43:47Of course.
43:49So that's the strange guy I saw in the diner.
43:51Carl von Paris.
43:53Wanted in six countries for art and jewelry theft.
43:57Among other things.
43:59I guess I owe you an apology, Ben.
44:01Oh, that's okay, Winnie.
44:03I know, it all sounded pretty crazy.
44:05Ben, nice job on locating that radio transmission.
44:07Thanks.
44:09That's it, then.
44:11The last chance detectives
44:13have just solved two cases in one.
44:15Oh, boy.
44:17Wait till the newspapers get wind of this.
44:19We'll be famous.
44:21Six o'clock news.
44:23Magazine interviews.
44:25A miniseries.
44:27Sorry to disappoint you, Ben,
44:29but, uh, I'm afraid not.
44:31The whole operation,
44:33the helicopter,
44:35it's all classified top secret.
44:37Raise your right hand.
44:39All of you.
44:41Now repeat after me.
44:43I say your name.
44:45I'm Ben Jones.
44:47Smitty swore us in as honorary deputies
44:49and put us under oath
44:51never to reveal what we saw up there.
44:53Our greatest case,
44:55and we can't even brag about it.
44:57Oh, well, we learned a lot.
44:59I got my compass fixed,
45:01and Ben and I are still best friends.
45:03Man, if I hadn't listened to Pop
45:05about trusting the Bible
45:07instead of my feelings,
45:09our whole team might have fallen apart.
45:11The way it is now,
45:13the mystery lights out on Navajo Mesa,
45:15well,
45:17they were just the beginning.
