The Block AU S20 Episode 15 - Guest Bedroom 2
Transcript
00:00Tonight on The Block.
00:03We have to win because I love this room.
00:05The guest bedroom build ramps up.
00:08Away you go.
00:09Yeah, good mate.
00:10Easy as.
00:11Out for the boys.
00:12Oh, they've done it again.
00:13Last week's main en suite continues to cause headaches.
00:18Mate, seriously bro.
00:19And our Blockheads take to the seas.
00:20Oh, I got one.
00:21Yay!
00:22To win one of the biggest challenge prizes in Block history.
00:30It is my bar crusher, isn't it?
00:33No, it's not.
00:37It is my bar crusher.
00:41Have a look at Ricky.
00:42I feel a bit crazy, mate.
00:43I don't think I've been this nervous in my life.
00:45Morning, Ricky.
00:46Morning.
00:47Morning.
01:00Morning, Ricku.
01:07Morning.
01:11Morning.
01:15Morning, everybody.
01:20We've got a few things going on this morning.
01:22We'll have the crane running again up the back of three there.
01:26If you're in and around the crane,
01:28please make sure you've got appropriate PPE on.
01:30Obviously, today's the last day of power tools
01:32before a very long weekend.
01:34We're going to work with you as much as we can today,
01:37but tomorrow there are no trades on site.
01:40So have a good crack today and have a good day.
01:43Enjoy.
01:50Good morning, how are you?
01:51Good, how are you?
01:52I walked into my cafe this morning to get my hot milk.
01:56Who orders hot milk?
01:58I do.
01:59I'm sorry, but you're the only person out of the 250
02:02inducted people on this side that drink hot milk.
02:07I walked into my cafe to order my hot milk.
02:10Just say I walked into my cafe and ordered my standard order.
02:14Don't tell everyone you drink hot milk.
02:19I walked into my cafe and I ordered my hot milk.
02:21Christian, spaghetti and milk.
02:24Oh, and a hot milk for Mimi.
02:26She's such a child.
02:28And in my peripherals I just see this spinning lady.
02:32Oh, what is that?
02:33I've got no idea.
02:37Oh, sorry.
02:38I see a lady, but it was actually a mannequin.
02:45Oh, it's Gucci.
02:46It is?
02:47Yeah.
02:48All right, I'll take it.
02:50I have an eye.
02:52I can spot a really nice design from a mile away,
02:56and so did you, right?
02:59It's ugly.
03:01I actually don't mind it's grown on me,
03:03knowing that it's Gucci.
03:04I'm like, I kind of like it.
03:06Do you reckon it screams White Lotus?
03:08How does White Lotus theme song go?
03:15The body's very out of proportion.
03:17The legs just.
03:19It's about that mannequin.
03:20It's about a dress.
03:21Look, it's not my style.
03:23I don't want that for myself, but I want it for my house.
03:27Maybe someone gets to win that.
03:30Thank you, guys.
03:31Bye, Christian.
03:32Have a lovely day.
03:33I'll see you very shortly.
03:35How do you always get in first?
03:37He literally runs in.
03:38Did you not see him?
03:43Early this morning in house three,
03:45the plasters are getting started in the guest bedroom.
03:47While Ricky tucks into breakfast before a big day.
03:51Morning.
03:52What's for breakfast this morning, mate?
03:55A mixture of peanut butter, granola, and milk,
03:59and I'm trying to eat it with a fork.
04:02It's good to start your day doing something slightly difficult
04:04because it trains your brain to prepare yourself for the day ahead,
04:08and that's why I chose the fork.
04:10You've just got to roll with the punches sometimes,
04:12and there wasn't a spoon available,
04:14so fork amuse-y it was.
04:17Starting your day doing something easy is not going to help your day.
04:21Start with a challenge.
04:23Have a cold shower.
04:24Eat amuse-y with a fork.
04:26Or try and finish two rooms in one week.
04:31That's right.
04:32As well as this week's guest bedroom,
04:34Ricky and Hayden are also attempting to complete the main en suite
04:37they failed to finish last week.
04:40There's no reason why we can't finish two rooms this week.
04:42Two rooms one week.
04:43I think it's a good idea that we smash it out.
04:45I think the judges will appreciate that we haven't laid down
04:48and forgotten about it.
04:49I think most importantly is we finally get this room waterproof signed off
04:54so we can move on and start fitting out the en suite.
04:56Spot on.
04:58But the waterproofer must finish his work around the water stop in the shower
05:03and have it approved before work in the en suite can continue.
05:07The water stop in a shower is the metal strip around the perimeter
05:11that stops water seeping out.
05:13And it's crucial it's installed properly and waterproof
05:16before tiling a bathroom.
05:18Not too much, yeah.
05:19We just want to make sure it dries quick.
05:21We failed our first inspection because he forgot to put in the door water stop
05:25so he forgot to waterproof that in.
05:27So we weren't able to get that waterproofing ticked off yesterday
05:30which meant we rolled into today.
05:33Do you need anything, bro?
05:34Do you want me to grab you the tanking?
05:36Do you need bandage for that?
05:37I'm sick of going past that room and having it not done
05:39so after today, we'll be on par.
05:49Oh, there's pigeons. Be careful.
05:51Jesse!
05:52We're going to have to move.
05:53Yeah, well, stop!
05:54That doesn't mean you can run them over, you idiot.
05:56They will move.
05:57Well, they're not moving, are they?
05:58They've moved, they've moved. They're gone.
06:10Good morning.
06:11How are you?
06:12Good, how are you?
06:13Excellent.
06:14That's good.
06:15We are doing a DIY project for our bedroom this week, our kids' bedroom.
06:19So we're going to build our own desk.
06:21Let's head down to our famous colour wall.
06:23Perfect.
06:24This year, each team gets $5,000 in cash from Mitre 10
06:28to spend on a DIY project.
06:31And if they do it right the first time, they'll get another $5,000 cash.
06:36How's it looking?
06:37Looking like we're getting there.
06:39Last week, Kylie and Brad were first team to do a DIY project in their main ensuite.
06:44Do I use power tools?
06:46No.
06:47Oh!
06:48And this week, Jesse and Paige are having a crack.
06:51So we just need all the materials for that to help us get started, really.
06:54Get everything we need to get the job done right the first time.
06:56That's it.
06:57Yes.
06:58We do have a big space in our bedroom,
07:00and we were going to put a really beautiful desk in there.
07:02Obviously lots of different sizes in the MDF.
07:04Very versatile product.
07:05A couple of quick tips on this stuff.
07:07Easy to cut using a fine blade.
07:09It'll cut nice and easily.
07:11As you can see, it's got a great finish,
07:12so when we get to painting it, you're going to want to prime and paint.
07:19And we're going a pretty cherry blush pink,
07:21which is very different for us, but we're going for it.
07:24So we're going to have a bit of fun with this room.
07:26If you can't do it in a kid's room, where can you do it?
07:30Voila!
07:31That looks like cherry blush to me.
07:33Looks beautiful.
07:34Thanks so much for today, Craig.
07:35Thank you. All the best.
07:36Can't wait to see the finished product.
07:37We'll send you some pictures.
07:38Cheers, Craig.
07:39Cheers. Thanks, guys.
07:40Yeah, I'm actually excited to get started.
07:42Yeah.
07:43I'm really excited.
07:44It's going to be a great team effort.
07:47I haven't been for a walk for ages.
07:49I know.
07:50We should try and start getting up earlier and do it.
07:54You're the last one up every day.
07:56It's so funny.
08:00If you don't think I'm doing enough, you can tell me.
08:05WHISTLE BLOWS
08:09Oh, here's my stuff.
08:10Here's Craig now.
08:11Hey, Craig.
08:12Hi.
08:13How you going?
08:16You can just sweep all day if you need to.
08:19Certainly can.
08:21I think we work well together as a team.
08:23We know our strengths.
08:24Yeah.
08:25We know how to communicate with each other.
08:28What do you need me to do for this project?
08:30Nothing at the moment.
08:31I have to have a part in this too.
08:33Yeah, I know that.
08:34So don't steamroll ahead without me.
08:35Yeah, these intricate cuts, I will do.
08:37Yeah, no worries.
08:38All right.
08:39Love you.
08:40Love you too.
08:48Over in house four, everything is on track in this week's bedroom.
08:52So the plaster is back today to set the bulkhead above the cabinetry
08:56so we can get that drying before we sand it.
08:59We're in a pretty good spot.
09:00We're not going to need power tools really after today.
09:03I want to be painting tomorrow, definitely.
09:05I think that's achievable.
09:06Cool.
09:08The build may be progressing, but for Carly and Brad,
09:11the bedroom style is struggling.
09:13Morning, gang.
09:14Morning, Dan.
09:16You're like really excited.
09:18I'm worried.
09:19Are you okay?
09:20I'm all right.
09:21Are you guys okay?
09:23Your energy's at a thousand and I'm at like ten.
09:26This week we're doing a kid's bedroom,
09:29which I'm not excited about at all.
09:31The room is looking great at the moment.
09:34Everything I'm putting in, I'm kind of just throwing it in there.
09:37Second guessing.
09:38Yeah.
09:39I wanted to do sort of like an older teen slash adult room,
09:43and then after Marty and Alice came through,
09:45they suggested it needed to have multiple beds
09:47or more than just putting in a double.
09:50If you can, consider having bunks
09:52or having the ability to sleep with two king singles.
09:56Just back yourself.
09:57I'm not backing myself, though, because I'm doing a kid's room.
10:00I've got the bed, and I'm actually happy with the bed.
10:03It'll tie in really nicely.
10:04We're doing some wood panelling, like a Wayne Scotting.
10:08We're going to do that on one wall.
10:09Neutral rug.
10:10I'm trying to add like a little kid's teepee
10:12so there's like a little play area for them.
10:15But then everything else I'm trying to decide,
10:17I'm sort of just throwing stuff in there just for the sake of it.
10:20Yeah, I don't think the Dodgers are going to like what I'm placing.
10:23But if they can look past that
10:24and they can see visually everything else,
10:26I'm really hoping that that stands out to them.
10:29Look, no, I'm just down in the dumps because I'm not sure.
10:36Styling?
10:37Yeah.
10:38Just hoping for the best.
10:41It'll be OK, love.
10:42Yeah, I can't help you there.
10:44Sorry.
10:48Although foreman Dan's unable to help Kylie with styling,
10:52Dan does help me manage all the electricians
10:55that I'm supplying to the block this year.
10:58Dan's returned to House 4 with Tim, our head electrician,
11:02to let Brad know he can join the team of Sparkies.
11:05Brad, how are you, mate?
11:06Good, Dan, you?
11:07So you were a very organised man before the show,
11:10went into Energy Safe Victoria to apply for a licence?
11:13Yeah, well, it's better to have it and not need it
11:15than need it and not have it.
11:17As you might know, Brad is a double threat.
11:20He's a Sparkie and a plumber from Queensland.
11:23But that doesn't mean he can do electrical work in Victoria.
11:26That's all about to change.
11:28Well, the good news has come through, hasn't it, Timmy?
11:30It's come through.
11:31They've granted you a temp licence in Victoria.
11:33Perfect.
11:34I've added you as a worker to me, so you're good to go.
11:38Perfect.
11:39As of today, I had my interstate licence approved by Summit
11:44so I can actually move some stuff around if I want to.
11:47It's not any kind of boost financially.
11:50No, but it is.
11:52Because I'll now hire Brad out to the other houses
11:55when they need a seaky little bit of electrical done
11:57when the boys have left site.
12:01Well done, mate. Congrats.
12:02Well, I think you're officially going to be part of the team.
12:04I know, part of the team.
12:05There you go.
12:06Yeah, so I'm pimping Brad out.
12:13Lockbox is up for grabs.
12:16What have you got to offer?
12:18I'll get me some gold teeth.
12:20Yeah, I'll pimp you out.
12:25Back in house three,
12:26this week's guest bedroom seems to be on track.
12:29But Ricky and Hayden have also been focused
12:32on last week's main ensuite,
12:34the room that caused the most headaches for the boys so far.
12:38We've hit worst-case scenario.
12:40What's that?
12:41It's not even sticking to the poly.
12:43So we have to rip it all up.
12:45What a nightmare.
12:46You're not going to finish this week.
12:48You're out of the running.
12:49But today they're hoping to get the waterproofing ticked off
12:52and finally get approval to begin tiling.
12:55We failed our first inspection
12:57because the water stop wasn't waterproofed in.
12:59Hayden!
13:01Hello, mate.
13:02How are you, man?
13:03And then we had an inspection by Hayden from nine and six
13:07and Dan, because we're getting washed like hawks now
13:10to make sure our waterproofing doesn't get stuffed up again.
13:14Still looks wet.
13:18Hang on.
13:19But, mate, this...
13:20Oh, they've done it again.
13:23Yeah, we found out quite quickly
13:25that it was another waterproofing disaster.
13:27I mean, it's just... it's just so thick.
13:30And it hasn't stuck.
13:31Not to the angle either.
13:33For f***'s sake.
13:34No bandage?
13:35No. Pull it out.
13:36Done again.
13:37They've done it again, mate.
13:38Yeah, yeah.
13:39Like, just, they don't get it.
13:40Yeah.
13:41Time to get a new crew in, man.
13:42Yeah.
13:45We don't all eat music with a fork, mate.
13:48I had my heart set on just finishing this en-suite this week
13:53and the minute that 8-0 was like, mate,
13:56that water stop and the shower is just...
13:59That's got to go.
14:00I knew we were stuffed.
14:02Like...
14:03Yeah, it was devastating.
14:05Because I knew at that moment
14:06that there was no toll on happening this week.
14:09Seriously?
14:10Seriously.
14:11This isn't f***ing enjoyable.
14:14At all.
14:24It may be guest bedroom week,
14:25but in House 3, Ricky and Hayden have failed yet another inspection
14:30in the room they were supposed to finish last week,
14:32the main en-suite.
14:34Pull it out.
14:35Yeah.
14:36Done again.
14:37Just, they don't get it.
14:38Yeah.
14:39Seriously, bro.
14:40Yeah, devastating, the waterproofing again.
14:43Despite the short week,
14:44I actually really thought we were going to be able to smash out
14:47the two rooms.
14:48And to be honest, if it wasn't for a couple of mistakes
14:51by the waterproofers, we probably would have got that done.
14:54Man, it's cost us money and our time and our energy.
14:57Yeah.
14:58Brutal.
14:59Yeah, it's brutal.
15:01And after all the mistakes made,
15:03the waterproofer has been given his marching orders.
15:06So we've just sent the waterproofers home in House 3's bathroom.
15:09The water stopper they've installed is incorrect.
15:11This is their second or third attempt at waterproofing this room.
15:14So now we're just going to get the Ardex rep,
15:16who's also the Dunlop rep, to come out and show them how it's done.
15:20And that'll be next week, unfortunately.
15:22It's a lack of eye for detail, mate.
15:24You know, it's taking your time and doing things properly.
15:26Yeah.
15:27You know, so I think, like, they're good tilers.
15:30But if you've got to redo waterproofing and keep ripping s*** out,
15:35I don't know how good that actually is.
15:37It's obviously not going to happen this week now.
15:39The aim is not throw the baby out with the bathwater,
15:42but we will push on and we'll aim to get it complete next week.
15:48You're a dad, mate.
15:49I don't think you should talk about throwing babies.
15:52Throwing the baby out with the bathwater, just saying.
15:55OK.
15:56I'm just saying.
15:57Sorry.
15:58I'm just saying.
15:59Don't throw babies.
16:00Don't throw babies.
16:07With the long weekend fast approaching,
16:09it's time for Shelley and I to drop in
16:11and announce the big prizes on offer this week.
16:14Uh, hello.
16:16Hi.
16:17Hello.
16:18How are you?
16:19Made yourself at home down there on the floor.
16:22Scotty and Shelley came around
16:23and all I could see was these bling earrings on Shelley's ears.
16:28And they were Gucci earrings.
16:30If you noticed my beautiful earrings,
16:32I'm sure you noticed my gorgeous frock.
16:34Yes, is that yours?
16:35Well, I had my kinsman consult.
16:37Yeah.
16:38And this year, our beautiful friends are donating the earrings
16:42and the Gucci dress as a prize.
16:45$10,000 worth of fashion, I might add,
16:48plus a Hayfley upgrade for your main wardrobes.
16:53So this is to hang in your wardrobe.
16:56And everyone else is just as surprised
16:59when Shelley and I let them know about this week's prize.
17:02Oh, we have diamonds.
17:05We do.
17:07My friends at Kinsman and I did some online shopping
17:10and we have bought this magnificent Gucci outfit,
17:13Gucci earrings, $10,000 worth of fashion.
17:17You also get a Hayfley wardrobe upgrade.
17:22So this will go in your main walk-in.
17:24Right, OK.
17:25That's for the winner of this week.
17:27That's for the winner of this week.
17:28We have to win.
17:29That's why this week is very important
17:31and I'm glad it's a kid's room because I love this room.
17:34And I know you fell off the wagon last week.
17:36Yes, majorly.
17:38Last week we did really badly.
17:43You've got the ability to really turn it up a notch
17:46for one of the most valuable rooms in a campaign
17:49and you've missed the mark.
17:52And I feel like we have a lot to redeem.
17:55And a shame for you guys.
17:57Yeah.
17:58But two wins.
17:59That's OK.
18:00It's a long road.
18:01It's all right.
18:02You're coming back with vengeance this week, obviously.
18:04Yes.
18:05Had a bit of self-doubt though, especially after that,
18:08but I feel like now that everything's here,
18:10I'm like, I think we have a chance.
18:16Christian and Mimi are creating a kid's bedroom.
18:18They'll have twin beds with trundles bursting with toys
18:21and a rainbow decal behind a feature cloud-shaped bedhead.
18:25Can you imagine when or if you decide to have a family,
18:28you might take a holiday on Phillip Island
18:30and rent out this house and your kids will stay in this room?
18:34Oh, yeah.
18:35I have separation anxiety already,
18:36just knowing that I have to leave this house.
18:38You're so attached to it, the emotional connection you have
18:41to every room, the planning and all the work.
18:44I feel like our blood, sweat and tears are in every single room.
18:48And I will have withdrawals after we leave.
18:51It'll be bad.
18:52I will, I don't know, find a place to stay and hide like a troll.
18:57So we're going for a win this week.
18:59Yes.
19:00Fingers crossed.
19:01Back on the wagon.
19:02Back on the wagon.
19:03That's it.
19:04Don't drop the ball over the line.
19:05No.
19:06Good luck.
19:07$30,000 at stake.
19:08I think the prize for this week is ginormous.
19:11I think master bedrooms win the block.
19:15I do believe that.
19:17So if you've got those upgrades
19:18and you've got a Gucci dress and Gucci earrings,
19:21it's going to really amp up that space.
19:24So we want to win it.
19:27Coming up, painting begins early this week.
19:32Courtney, you might want to come in and see this.
19:34I was slug-dropping while I was sanding.
19:36Before a massive challenge.
19:38I think you boys need a good fishing day out
19:40after the last week and a half.
19:42Oh, yeah.
19:43With a huge prize.
19:45Have a look at Rikki.
19:46I've never wanted something more in my life.
19:48But Paige is a fish out of water.
19:56We're just ruining the fish's day.
20:09Which contestants do you think
20:11are creating a winning room this week?
20:13To cast your vote,
20:14all you have to do is head to the block website now.
20:17And while you're there,
20:18don't forget to check out all of our amazing room galleries.
20:30It's a busy afternoon on Phillip Island.
20:35With our teams working hard in their guest bedrooms
20:38the day before a long weekend.
20:41There's DIY desk building in house one.
20:44You in that corner?
20:45Yeah.
20:46Last-minute shopping in town.
20:48Yep, perfect.
20:50Feature art deliveries on site.
20:52Wow, look at this.
20:53There you go.
20:54Been waiting for this one.
20:55That's fantastic.
20:56That looks amazing.
20:57And a spray gun demo at house four.
21:00Increase your pressure as you feel you need to.
21:02And then just away you go.
21:04Yeah, good, mate.
21:05Easy as.
21:07I was keen for this the whole time.
21:12Hello!
21:14Firstly, congratulations on the 10.
21:17Oh, thank you.
21:18It must feel like a century ago,
21:20but now that you've got one,
21:21just keep them coming, I say.
21:23Hopefully.
21:24That's the goal.
21:25So what are you calling this room?
21:27This is going to be a little girls' room.
21:29So this is going to be a kids' room.
21:30Yes.
21:31Jessie and Paige's girls' bedroom will have twin beds,
21:34decorative wall panelling, their DIY pink desk
21:37and the only walk-in robe in any room this week.
21:40And the wallpaper is very neutral.
21:42The only thing that we are going out on a little bit of a limb
21:46is painting this pink.
21:48Are you both working on this?
21:50Yeah, this is our Mitre 10 DIY project.
21:52Oh, is it?
21:53It's fantastic.
21:54Yeah, we actually want to put two more shelves there.
21:56We just ran out of time today.
21:57And the fact that you've done this yourselves,
21:59it's a DIY project.
22:00You've done it.
22:01Guess what?
22:02I've got something for you.
22:03What?
22:04What's that?
22:05Well, just a second.
22:06It's a very special hat for you.
22:09For Mitre 10.
22:10Because they like it when you do the job right the first time.
22:14There's your hat.
22:15Take it.
22:16Thank you very much.
22:17Oh, I'll take that.
22:19$5,000.
22:20$5,000.
22:21You have the hat, I'll have the cash.
22:23Thank you, Mitre 10.
22:25So I get the hat.
22:26I get the cash.
22:27She got the $5,000 cash from Mitre 10.
22:29So how good's that?
22:30Thank you, Mitre 10.
22:31I'm pretty stoked for the hat.
22:32It's got my name on it.
22:33Doesn't take much to keep him happy.
22:36The sun goes down, the stars come out
22:40And all that counts is here and now
22:45The day ended and all trade's gone for a long weekend.
22:49Our teams have a free run tonight to paint in their guest bedrooms.
22:53Do you think we can win again?
22:55Yep.
22:56Tonight we need to sand and paint.
22:59And we've got all of tomorrow.
23:01Yeah, we've got all of tomorrow.
23:02Why paint in the dark when you can paint during the day
23:05and have a better quality product?
23:07It's true.
23:08Yeah, unfortunately, the flash was just finished.
23:10It's still wet, so there'll be no painting tonight,
23:13which is a bit of a suck.
23:15Now I'll take you by the hand
23:17Painting is going to be the next two and a half days, really,
23:21and that shows how big it is, really.
23:24The sun goes down, the stars come out
23:28We want to get it done tonight,
23:30only because Saturday we've got flooring, we've got curtains.
23:33We don't want to paint around and move that stuff.
23:35We'll never be the same, I'm glad you came
23:39Courtney, you might want to come in and see this.
23:41I was slut-dropping while I was sanding.
23:43Oh my God, don't do that, it's creepy.
23:46BIRDS CHIRP
23:57It's a public holiday on the block
23:59with nothing but painting in front of our blockheads today.
24:09So I'm taking the chance to get off site,
24:12do what I do on a day off on Phillip Island.
24:16Go fishing.
24:33Well, mate, I'm very excited about being on this waterway for the first time
24:37and I'm excited to have you, Lee, one of the world's greatest fishermen.
24:41Yeah, not like him.
24:42And Scott, mate, from Bar Crusher.
24:44We're on an island, we thought we'd do something different
24:47and Bar Crusher were good enough to come on board
24:49and give us this magnificent six metre boat.
24:52Brand spanker, this is the first time it's actually been in the water.
24:55Let's dirty it up.
24:56Let's get it dirty.
25:00That's a whiting.
25:01That's a whiting, alright.
25:03Oh, look at that, Scott.
25:05Oh!
25:06I'll trade you.
25:08That's a big one.
25:09He's decent.
25:12Got him.
25:14He's slipping.
25:17This is way more fun than painting bedrooms,
25:19so I've asked Shelly to gather the troops and join in.
25:22I think you boys need a good fishing day out after the last week and a half.
25:26Oh, yeah.
25:27Yeah, we're wearing our best active wear today.
25:31Fish flops, tight pants, ready for anything.
25:35You need Kool-Aid.
25:38Baby, I'm that Kool-Aid.
25:42That looks like Scotty.
25:47Don't mind the call time, mate.
25:49It's fine.
25:50What would you do if that was our boat?
25:52I'd love that boat.
25:54Okay, let's go, boys.
25:55Beautiful.
25:56Oh, he's got a catch bag with him.
25:58Oh, what's he got here?
25:59Right.
26:01That was an entrance.
26:03I have been fishing today with my mates,
26:08Lee Rona, expert fisherman.
26:10How's it going, Lee?
26:11And Scott from Bar Crusher.
26:13G'day, Scotty.
26:14G'day, g'day.
26:16Let me show you this.
26:18This is fair dinkum.
26:20This is the results of our day.
26:24They are fat.
26:26What's the biggest one in there?
26:27I think the biggest one there, Lee, what do you reckon?
26:30460, 470.
26:32Wow.
26:33We had a fantastic day.
26:34Now, when you come to Phillip Island,
26:36you have got to go fishing because that's what everybody does.
26:39So I thought that I'd give you a day off the block
26:42and get you on the water and go for a fish.
26:46Very nice.
26:48All right, well, we are all going to head out
26:50with New Haven Fishing Charters.
26:52Kate and Tom will be our guides.
26:54They're going to take us to the best spots.
26:56And then we're going to come back here to the Angler's Cub
26:59and do a combined weigh-in.
27:01Oh, wow, wow.
27:03Does that sound good?
27:04It sounds fantastic.
27:05Have we forgotten something, though, Shell?
27:08The prize.
27:09The prize.
27:10What is the prize?
27:11I wonder what the prize is.
27:14A bar crusher.
27:15It's a doozy, Shell.
27:16It's one of the biggest prizes ever, if not the biggest prize.
27:20What have you got?
27:22Stop it.
27:23It's a corker.
27:24It's a bar crusher.
27:25Stop it.
27:26It is my bar crusher over there.
27:30No, it's not.
27:33No way!
27:38It is my bar crusher.
27:40Have a look at Ricky.
27:43No, it's not.
27:44He's not.
27:45The prize at stake here is $100,000 of just pure fishing arsenal.
27:56Now, the bar crusher.
27:58Magnificent vessel.
28:03It's an all-rounder.
28:04Are you serious?
28:06The 615C, built in Australia, right here in Melbourne.
28:12Valued at over $100,000.
28:15Is he being serious?
28:16Are you serious?
28:17That could be our bar crusher.
28:18Don't.
28:19In a few hours' time.
28:23It's literally, like, before we came on the show, my cousin goes,
28:26you have to go on this show and you have to win this show
28:28so we can buy a bar crusher.
28:30That, oh, I'm speechless.
28:36All right, off you go.
28:37Get on the boat.
28:38Let's go this way.
28:42I feel a bit crazy, mate.
28:43I don't think I've been this nervous in my life.
28:49Coming up...
28:50We're fishing.
28:51The challenge tests our team's skills.
28:55Come down, come down, come down.
28:56And their stomachs.
28:57It's horrible.
28:58Fishing's kind of gross.
29:00When the heat gets turned up, there's a few fish out of water.
29:04Me and H at home, we cook barbecues and that's it.
29:08I was actually very proud of Mimi because she is not...
29:12I have no knife skills.
29:13What do we do with the tentacles?
29:15Where does she work?
29:16At a restaurant.
29:17And tummy's churned some more.
29:22I was cutting it up.
29:23I may have been dry reaching.
29:35In today's challenge, our teams are out to catch the two biggest fish
29:39to win a bar crusher boat worth over $100,000.
29:47We're fishing.
29:48I don't even know what a bar crusher is, but I want it.
29:50Yeah, I want it.
29:51I feel a bit crazy, mate.
29:52I don't think I've been this nervous in my life.
29:54Most of the time, the people with no idea
29:56somehow manage to get the best fish.
29:58I don't know how it works.
30:00Jessie and Paige, who have never fished,
30:02they're probably our biggest comp.
30:04I've seen people who have never fished in their lives
30:07catch some of the bigger fish while I'm standing there like an idiot
30:10catching nothing and I'm teaching them how to put bait on a hook.
30:13So, firstly, I'll just run you through what we're using for bait.
30:15We're targeting King George whiting.
30:17So if you do want to use a yabby, grab one.
30:20Careful of the claw, they will nip and it does kind of hurt.
30:23And you're just going to thread it through.
30:25I have never, ever had a desire to fish.
30:29I've actively had the opposite of a desire to fish.
30:35I thread it through to roughly about the head.
30:38That's horrible.
30:40It's kind of gross. Fishing's kind of gross.
30:44OK, you've got your red-hot tips?
30:46Yep.
30:47So, rods in, let's get fishing.
30:49Bait me up, baby.
30:51How many people do you reckon have fished for a bar crusher?
30:54I don't know. Not many.
30:56Not many, eh?
30:57Our teams are out to reel in a big haul,
30:59but will only be able to submit their two biggest fish for the weigh-in.
31:07No, I don't want a fish to bite my thing.
31:09Oh, I got one.
31:10Do you?
31:11Up over your head.
31:12It's a regular.
31:14Jesse got the first one.
31:16As soon as he got a fish, I was like, we're good.
31:19All right, we're in.
31:20We've got 27 centimetres.
31:22Nice work.
31:25Hey, there we go.
31:27Yes.
31:28Another beautiful wading.
31:29Oh, he knows what he's doing.
31:31We are fishing people.
31:32So, I love fishing.
31:33Like, me and my cousin Adam are on a boat.
31:35Mimi!
31:37Mimi, come down, come down, come down, come down.
31:40Come down.
31:41I caught two toadfish.
31:42Get it over, get it over.
31:44We've got a pocket pinkie.
31:45Pocket pinkie.
31:46Does it count?
31:47It does count.
31:48It's an eligible species, but too small.
31:50Too small.
31:51You get in there.
31:52Me going back.
31:53They should have put everything that went on that rod
31:55in the thing and waded.
31:57Nice.
31:58Let's get him in the boat.
31:59Ah!
32:00Oh.
32:01Yeah, the boys.
32:03Good work, dude.
32:04Surprisingly, fish were biting on our rods.
32:08Rick's on.
32:10Ricky's on.
32:11Ricky.
32:12Yes.
32:13So, we were reeling them in.
32:14We were actually smashing it.
32:16Sounds promising, Grant.
32:18Come on, Grant, get them.
32:19Yes, yes, yes.
32:22Oh, these are the yucky ones.
32:23These are the yucky fish.
32:24That's okay, they're fat.
32:26Get the fat ones.
32:30Holding the rod, doing nothing.
32:32Literally nothing.
32:33Good times, eh?
32:35I have never fished in my life.
32:37I'm just wallowing in embarrassment.
32:40And then Shelly come and gave me some encouraging advice.
32:43Have you still got bait on the end?
32:45I don't care.
32:46You're not going to get a bite if you don't have any bait.
32:48She said, at least if you're just holding a fishing rod
32:51you could potentially get the winning fish.
32:54So, I was like, okay, Shelly.
32:56And then she kept standing beside me and I hooked a fish.
32:59That's a beautiful one.
33:00Yes, Kylie, yes, Kylie.
33:02Oh, it's a big one.
33:03Kylie.
33:04Kylie.
33:06Come on, Kylie.
33:08It's not over.
33:09It's not over.
33:11So, I was like, stay standing next to me.
33:13I might keep.
33:14She's good luck.
33:15So, she could keep standing next to me.
33:17Okay, so, if we change bait, we put our thing.
33:21It was full on.
33:23And then when Hayden caught a fish and it fell on the floor
33:26and started flopping at my feet.
33:30Watch out, Paige.
33:35I couldn't deal with the flopping.
33:37I didn't want to, like, we're just ruining the fish's day.
33:41And that is it.
33:42Fishing tools down.
33:44Thank you all very much.
33:45Tom, let's head home.
33:47Time for the weigh-in.
33:48Well done, everyone.
33:49Well done.
33:50Happy fishing.
33:57Yeah, most stressed I've been fishing.
33:59Yeah, most tense fishing trip of all time, for sure.
34:05Welcome back, gang.
34:06How did you go?
34:07Was it a good day?
34:08Yeah.
34:09Out on the water.
34:10How was it, Cheryl?
34:11Can I tell you, I don't think I've seen more stressed people
34:14during a challenge.
34:16It was intense.
34:18Very intense.
34:20But fun.
34:21I had a good time.
34:22I heard there was a few questions asked.
34:24Yeah, there was.
34:25About, obviously, the Bar Crusher 615C
34:29and whether you get to take it home.
34:33Of course you get to take it home.
34:35To the block.
34:37It's that simple.
34:40I was actually relieved.
34:42Yeah, a whole lot of pressure and stress.
34:44Because it meant that I wasn't going to lose the Bar Crusher
34:46if we didn't catch the biggest fish that day.
34:48But you're selling your home with a Bar Crusher in the driveway.
34:51It's a holiday home.
34:53That puts you above your neighbours, surely.
34:55OK?
34:56All right.
34:57Let me introduce you to Chris and Alex,
35:00our officials for the weigh-in.
35:02The Bar Crusher.
35:03615C.
35:04We'll go to the team that had the two biggest fish by weight.
35:08Chris, can I ask, this is the way you do all weigh-in?
35:11So we're doing this the proper way.
35:13Proper way, all official.
35:14Oh, it's tiny.
35:15It's a little baby.
35:19Definitely our tiny fish is not getting us the win.
35:23That's one.
35:24That's a nice pilchard, that one.
35:26It was good.
35:29OK, house one is done.
35:31House number two.
35:33Here we have a yucca.
35:39She's a big girl.
35:46Here we go.
35:47So here we have another different type of fish.
35:50A leatherjacket.
35:53Oh, fantastic.
35:54Mmm.
35:55That's the life, mate.
36:00All right.
36:01Down to house number four.
36:04Another two nice King George whiting.
36:07Both caught by Kylie.
36:08Kylie.
36:09Yeah.
36:10Kylie's definitely put herself and Brad in a good place
36:13to win that bar crusher.
36:14Don't worry.
36:15I reckon they're probably our biggest competition.
36:17Kylie, that's huge.
36:19And here we have two different species.
36:22And a King George whiting.
36:26All right, just relax now.
36:28We've got to add it up.
36:29The babies.
36:30The little babies.
36:32That's two.
36:35Oh!
36:36Look at that.
36:37Woof.
36:38House three.
36:40Oh!
36:43Look, Brad and Kylie are going to be the challenge queen and king.
36:46No, it's already yes and no.
36:57So, the heaviest fish goes to house three.
37:05We won.
37:06We won.
37:07We caught the biggest fish.
37:08We won.
37:09We caught the biggest fish.
37:10Significantly.
37:11We had the biggest fish.
37:12By a mile.
37:13Yeah.
37:14Like, at least 100 grams.
37:15Yeah.
37:16It was slightly concerning, though, because it was a bit easy.
37:18Just hold your applause.
37:21You didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you?
37:24The numbers went on the blackboard way too quick and way too easily.
37:28It did almost feel like too easy of a win.
37:30And then, sure enough, Scottie dropped a bomb.
37:38So, the heaviest fish goes to house three.
37:42Well done, boys.
37:43Woo!
37:44The numbers went on the blackboard way too quick and way too easily.
37:48It did almost feel like too easy of a win.
37:50And then, sure enough, Scottie dropped a bomb.
37:53You didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you?
37:55No.
37:56Well, it's a bar crusher worth over $100,000.
38:00So, Shell and I thought we would destroy the bar crusher.
38:05So, Shell and I thought we would decide the winner a little bit differently, Shell.
38:11Well, how about a good old-fashioned cook-up?
38:14What do you think?
38:16You guys are going to clean and cook your catch and serve it up.
38:21This is going to be a blind tasting.
38:24We are going to have no idea who cooked what meal.
38:27We will come up with a meal that we liked the best,
38:30and that team will take home the bar crusher.
38:35Oh, but hang on.
38:36We couldn't possibly do a fishing challenge without this.
38:38Oh, yeah, boys.
38:39No.
38:41You did win this, too.
38:42Oh!
38:43Yay!
38:44Put a can in the water.
38:46Put a man without a care.
38:49A winner has been determined.
38:52There you go, Jen.
38:55Tommy Trout.
38:56Oh, fantastic.
38:57That was beautiful.
38:58Oh, man.
39:07Boys, you'll also take home a thousand bucks in cash.
39:10Oh, yay!
39:11And hopefully the bar crusher as well.
39:13Everybody's got a chance now.
39:15Let's go.
39:21First challenge, we win and we win nothing.
39:23Nothing.
39:25A thousand bucks.
39:38Ooh.
39:39Utensils to cook with that I've never seen before.
39:41What are you going to do with all these, Corey?
39:45Hey, Sean.
39:46Hey, Carl.
39:47Carly.
39:48Husband, I've already got one.
39:50Get past me.
39:51Is this part of it?
39:52Get past me.
39:53Get past me.
39:54We love to cook together at home.
39:55We love to be in the kitchen and have a fun time together making food.
39:58So we were like, this is going to be fun.
40:00We can just turn this into a bit of comfort of home.
40:04It was nice.
40:05And it's like one of my favourite dishes.
40:07We're doing a fish and papillote.
40:10And we're going to do a little Mediterranean twist on it.
40:13Some capers, chilli, garlic, olives.
40:17How many more olives do you think you want?
40:19Quite a bit.
40:20Quite a bit.
40:22I don't even have a garlic crusher.
40:24Garlic crusher or bar crusher?
40:26Both.
40:28I have neither.
40:30We decided we were going to do fish in butter, lemon and garlic sauce with mashed potato and broccoli.
40:37Simple but very flavoursome.
40:39It would be something that any time I go to a restaurant I would pick exactly that.
40:43Baked paper.
40:44Should we get it?
40:46Did you have some?
40:47I've only got potatoes in the oven because they take the longest.
40:51We decided to do a baked King George riding with lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, parsley.
40:59And a side salad.
41:00What if someone takes our potato?
41:03What if someone takes our potato?
41:08For the fish we're going to go inspired by our recent Greek holiday and do...
41:11Mediterranean.
41:12Keep it modern Mediterranean.
41:14Modern Mediterranean.
41:15We're going to do a barbecue grilled fish with a Maltese capsicum salsa on the side.
41:23So good.
41:24And some hand cut potato fries.
41:26If someone else is doing a Maltese capsicum dip then...
41:29Then we're a Maltese capsicum dip.
41:33Basically me and H at home we cook barbecues and that's it.
41:38Everything else is out of Tupperware containers.
41:41So we'd be kidding ourselves if we did anything but fish and chips.
41:46I think fish and chips will provide us with enough ways that we can completely destroy this meal as it is.
41:52So anything outside that would be just stupid.
41:56Wine?
41:57While we're cooking.
41:58I can't believe we didn't have a fish knife.
42:02This one?
42:03No, they're tongs.
42:06I actually got quite into it.
42:08Mimi, you're actually doing a really good job with the scaling.
42:11Thanks, I should be a fish scaler.
42:13I was actually very proud of Mimi because she is not...
42:16I have no knife skills.
42:17Yeah, she's not comfortable with any knives in her hand.
42:20She's not comfortable in a kitchen.
42:23What do we do with the tentacles?
42:25Tentacles?
42:26No, the...
42:27There's no tentacles on a fish.
42:29You know what I mean.
42:30The scales.
42:31No, the top part, the Mohawk part.
42:33She doesn't like prepping, she doesn't like cutting, she doesn't like cooking, doesn't like cleaning.
42:37Is it inking?
42:39No, there's no ink in a fish, Mimi.
42:41Where does she work?
42:43At a restaurant.
42:46Kyle, do you want a red wine?
42:51Mimi, no red...
42:52We're cooking, we're painting tonight.
42:54No drinking, you're banned.
42:55No, I'm calling everyone over.
43:01It's quite nice.
43:03Did you drink that straight out of the bottle on camera?
43:06This is going to butcher it.
43:08I was taking this fish that still had eyes and a head and organs inside, and I was cutting it up.
43:17So, I may have been dry reaching.
43:25Come on.
43:26Stop it, don't tell me to come on, you're not even the one doing it.
43:30It was a lot for me.
43:35Paige, come on.
43:37Stop saying come on, you do it then.
43:40You're doing amazing.
43:41But just stop saying that to me.
43:42Okay.
43:43Just stop it.
43:44Just saying how you're all good.
43:45Just saying what?
43:46Just saying you're doing really well.
43:48I don't care.
43:49And we all said no tweezers, so I was pulling the bones out with my teeth with raw fish.
43:55Were you?
43:56Yep.
44:03Why were you doing that?
44:04I had to get the bones out.
44:05You can't feed bones in a fish.
44:16Chips will take, you know, 50 minutes.
44:1855 minutes?
44:19Yeah.
44:21Get rid of the excess water there.
44:23You've got 45 minutes to cook those chips.
44:26They're scent.
44:27Yeah.
44:28These potatoes are looking like mashed potatoes inside this pot.
44:34What are you going to cook in there?
44:35Absolutely f***ing no idea.
44:37Fish?
44:39I think we ditched the salad and ended up going, I thought, stuff it.
44:42You know what?
44:43Broccolini with fish and chips goes really well.
44:46Oh, that smells good.
44:48The broccolini.
44:49The fish is over there in the foil.
44:51You're not going to overcook it, bud.
44:52Baking in its own delicious goodness.
44:54Grant, watch it.
44:55Shut up, Cortana.
44:59Okay, moment of truth.
45:05F***.
45:06We were the only cooking table who had a swarm of wasps.
45:12They were ruining the vibe.
45:18What a low.
45:19So I'm on the floor, on the grass, being like...
45:24Is any ready to...
45:29And you're just like...
45:30To a fish?
45:35Okay.
45:40They're actually looking all right.
45:43How's it work?
45:44The blind tasting is they don't watch who's cooking what.
45:47They're not blindfolded.
45:49Oh.
45:50It's the chips that really make it six star.
45:56Definitely cooked.
45:57No, no one's going to die, is he.
46:01Mimi, they've got waitresses for this.
46:05Wow.
46:06I don't know what I'm trying to fix,
46:07but it feels like Mission Impossible.
46:10It's overcooked.
46:11I can taste scales.
46:13But apart from that,
46:15it would almost feed out to my dogs, mate.
46:17Dreams are absolutely crushed.
46:19I've never seen him so flat.
46:21I was just spewing because it felt like
46:23it went pretty well for us in the fishing part of the challenge.
46:27But the cook just didn't...
46:28It just didn't happen for us.
46:58Our blockheads have caught...
47:01and cooked...
47:03three individual fish dinners
47:05to win a bar crusher for their home.
47:07$100,000 of just pure fishing arsenal.
47:11Now at HQ,
47:12it's time to judge the winner in a blind tasting.
47:16To help me judge is Shelley
47:17and expert fisherman Lee Rayner.
47:20Lee, welcome to Masterche...
47:21I mean, the block.
47:24It's a pleasure to be here.
47:25Oh.
47:26Oh.
47:27Oh, thank you.
47:28What have we got here?
47:32So we decided to prepare fish and papillote,
47:35which is fish wrapped up in a parchment pouch.
47:38Some peppers, chilli, garlic, olives.
47:41I think we have done enough for the win.
47:43It's a beautiful dish.
47:44I mean, I like it.
47:45You like it.
47:46Fish in a bag.
47:48Here we go.
47:49A little lemon wedge on the edge.
47:52It's really lovely.
47:53It is.
47:54For me, the kalamata, olives and the lemon combined
47:58makes it a little bit bitter.
48:00Mm, that's true.
48:02I'd say the olives are pretty strong.
48:04Yeah.
48:05I have not struck a bone yet,
48:06so I'm impressed with that.
48:08That's one fish dinner down.
48:10Time for the next dish.
48:12We decided that us lads, what would we do at home?
48:16We're going to cook simple,
48:18What would we do at home?
48:19We're going to cook simple fish and chips.
48:22That's where our skills start and end.
48:25I think these are the modern-day fish and chips.
48:27Mm.
48:36The fish is a lot more tasty.
48:38There's a focus on the fish.
48:40Yeah.
48:41Which really is what it's all about, right?
48:42Mm-hm.
48:43The broccolini's delicious too,
48:45and yet it had the least plate appeal, I have to say.
48:47Yeah.
48:48But it was a good, wholesome meal, wasn't it?
48:52It was.
48:53It was just a good piece of fish.
48:54Yeah.
48:55Yeah.
48:57We decided we were going to do fish
48:59in a butter, lemon and garlic sauce.
49:01100% we've done enough to win a challenge.
49:03It was delicious.
49:08Has it got enough flavour? I'm not sure.
49:10It does look good, but it's a little bit tasteless, isn't it?
49:14It is. It's a bit bland.
49:16But this is what I would order if I was going out and having fish.
49:19Oh, well, time for the next one.
49:23We decided to do a baked King George whiting
49:27with lemon, garlic, salt, pepper and parsley.
49:30It's very garlicky.
49:33I can't taste the whiting here.
49:35Is there mint on this or parsley?
49:37Parsley, garlic.
49:39I can taste the parsley and the garlic.
49:41Bones!
49:42Yeah, I've already had a bite.
49:43Have you? I've had two, yeah.
49:45I don't think I can go on.
49:47Go on, continue.
49:49OK, what can number five do?
49:52Fish and a capsicum sauce.
49:54And who doesn't love chips on the side of fish, right?
49:57Got to say, it came out exactly the way we pictured it.
50:00It's got so much on it.
50:04Mmm, good chips.
50:05It's good.
50:06The fish on its own actually got a really good taste.
50:09I love the capsicum.
50:10Yeah.
50:11That's really delicious.
50:13I think the balance of flavours was better in this one.
50:16Unfortunately, Scotty, it's only little, but there's a bone.
50:20You got a bone?
50:21Enough to kill you.
50:23If that was my girls, they would yell at me.
50:26I would yell at you.
50:27We've got some thinking to do, kids.
50:29There's a boat.
50:30You're giving away a boat.
50:31Yep, yep, yep.
50:33I'll tell you what, this is a ball crusher.
50:35I mean a bar crusher.
50:36Bar crusher.
50:42We're standing around, waiting to hear the results.
50:45I just wanted to hear the bad news.
50:47Yeah.
50:48Well, gang, firstly, I'd like to thank Scott from Bar Crusher
50:51for being here and providing the big boat behind us.
50:55Well done.
50:56Good on you, Scotty.
50:57Scotty.
50:58And I'd like to thank our resident fishing expert,
51:00now our resident fishing expert.
51:02The block fishing expert.
51:03That's right.
51:04Lee, how have you found it, mate?
51:06It has been one of the most enjoyable days I think I've had
51:09in a very long time, hanging out with you guys.
51:11It's just something really special.
51:13Good on you, mate.
51:14Well, thanks for coming.
51:15What did we come up with, Shel?
51:16So the dish that we enjoyed the most today,
51:18and I can only describe it because we don't know who cooked what.
51:21So whoever did the charred broccolini,
51:25the potato chippies and the fish,
51:30I think we called it our simple fish and chips or...
51:32We did.
51:33We called it flash fish and chips.
51:34Flash fish and chips.
51:35That's what it was.
51:36So who is that?
51:38No way.
51:40How did you do that?
51:43Yes!
51:46Can we get the keys?
51:48Well done, mate.
51:49That's delicious.
51:57That was like two wins.
51:58Two wins.
51:59Yes, two wins!
52:01Well done, lads.
52:02Well done.
52:03Jeez, well done.
52:04Hell yeah.
52:05That's not what I expected.
52:07That is awesome.
52:08Really proud of you.
52:10Fellas, you got a bar crusher in your driveway.
52:16Well done, guys.
52:17Guys, ask one question.
52:18Has it got fuel in it?
52:19Yeah, it does.
52:20All right, let's go.
52:21Let's go.
52:22All right, well done.
52:23It's been a big day.
52:24Head back to the block.
52:33Yes!
52:36He's on the bottom!
52:41The boys are back, baby.
52:42The boys are back.
52:43The bar crushing boys.
52:46That's a bar crush.
52:47That's Australian engineering, mate.
52:48That's a fisher's worst nightmare.
52:51And it's in our driveway.
52:53Yeah, the boys.
52:57What just happened?
52:59What just happened?
53:03Sunday night.
53:05So much to do.
53:06We need our carpet installed.
53:08Blinds and curtains going in.
53:10Graphic art coming in.
53:11We need to start painting.
53:13What a week.
53:14What a week.
53:15Did you finish the room off?
53:17Uh...
53:18Our judging will see our teams in a five-horse race.
53:21This is insane.
53:23It's beautiful.
53:24For goodness sake, make our jobs easier.
53:27Stakes are high.
53:28There's $10,000 from Ford up for grabs.
53:30There's $10,000 worth of Gucci dress and earrings.
53:33There's also a $10,000 wardrobe upgrade,
53:36which turns this week into a $30,000 week.
53:40Ooh, that's big.
53:42It could come down to the wire.
53:44How tight is that?
53:46And a penguin showdown.
53:48What are you going to do with the bonus point penguin?
53:54For Sig.
