00:00In Jermore High School we teach agriculture and two out of three of the
00:08children in the group study agriculture but I'm actually their English teacher
00:12and I have taken this on with another teacher in the school who's actually a
00:17music teacher and even as an English teacher I have really noticed obviously
00:23we put so much focus on communication in our subject through talking and
00:26listening and really this experience has been amazing for them to develop their
00:30confidence and just to allow them to speak fluently in front of an audience
00:36or members of the public so I definitely have noticed that the skills that they
00:40have developed from this competition has really transferred into the
00:44classroom and it's something that I'm so pleased that I got involved with. If you
00:48are a teacher in a school that doesn't necessarily teach agriculture please
00:52don't let that put you off this has been an amazing experience for me as an
00:57English teacher and definitely there are so many skills to be developed and that
01:00help across the entire curriculum not just focused on agriculture.
