Keith Urban may appear unhuman with his next-level guitar skills, but when it comes to emotions and life struggles, the Country superstar has walked through his fair share of challenges, just like the rest of us.

00:00If you wouldn't mind sharing like just something you know that you've gone
00:04through in your life and how you got through it I feel like those messages
00:07are always what is so hopeful and helps people who are listening who might be
00:10struggling in the moment to know like this is what's on the other side.
00:13That's a big subject.
00:14I mean I'm gonna leave it open to you whether like how big or small that is
00:18and what you feel comfortable with.
00:20I'm always very scared of any of my
00:22experience sounding like advice for people and I have no advice for anybody.
00:26I just want to say this is not advice this is not advice I'm gonna state that
00:30disclaimer right out of the gate because we're we're all in different places of
00:38willingness to tackle this thing that's a challenge it's never too late to break
00:45the chain that's the first thing that's the other thing it's like it there's no
00:48it's not too late you know I think the idea that man I should have done this
00:53years ago I would have had a better life I'm like well there might be a bit
00:57of life ahead of you which yeah that could be better if you deal with it now
01:01and it's never too late I don't know I feel like I've had so many portals that
01:07I've walked through nail one any one of them yeah and they're all works in
01:12progress and but asking for help is probably number one that's the hardest
01:17thing to do yeah it's the hardest thing but I'm learning to I often say what it
01:23is that I need to hear and I don't even realize it and it could be something as
01:27simple as this you have an incredibly stressful week is just too much going on
01:32spinning too many plates too many people to take care of too much stuff going on
01:35and you scream to yourself I can't handle this and it's almost like the
01:39universe goes finally you recognize that you can't handle this you're not meant to
01:47are you asking for any help because it's too much for you you even just said it
01:52mm-hmm you know and but I'll be like I can't handle this but then I don't ask
01:56for help yeah so I even said the words the words were they're trying to have me
02:01hear them so sometimes that that that answer is right there in front of us if
02:06we just have to learn to hear it and see it yeah but I think asking for help is
02:09like even it's such a great simple thing and it's just something that we
02:12definitely try to normalize with the broadcast because I you know I as much
02:16therapy and work that I've done and being involved in this broadcast like I
02:19went through something last year where I was like a horribly depressed having
02:22such a hard time in like literally the moment I was like oh this is where I
02:24need to ask for help was like it took me a minute and I've I'm the person out
02:28there saying you should ask for help ask for help and it's so interesting like
02:31you said like it kind of like you hear it yourself you're like oh well
02:35sometimes we don't know who to ask for help either we don't trust people mm-hmm
02:39and it's and we can get the wrong help oh yeah you know like wrong advice you
02:44can have several people going this is what you should do and they're all wrong
02:46so you're like oh I don't know I'm just gonna have to sit with this for a second
02:50until I can feel like I've got a better answer coming through but that's why
02:54it's a process but I think at some point something becomes clear I knew for me
02:58through years and years and years and years I went I know I'm gonna come to a
03:02fork in the road sometime somewhere in my life and I'm gonna have to choose
03:06where I'm gonna go left or right and that fork will appear somewhere and I
03:11know beyond a shadow of a doubt if I go the wrong way I may never get this fork
03:18in the road opportunity ever again so this would be a one-time deal so be
03:22ready for it when it happens and sure enough you know it came and I knew I
03:26went oh this is that fork in the road moment wow I've thought about this for
03:31years years and years and here it is what are you gonna do you're gonna go
03:35left or right but it's a good point to say what you just said like there's it's
03:39never too late to change no I just did this therapy retreat earlier this year
03:43and there were people on it there were like 21 and there were people there who
03:45were 75 and I was like good for you like of course you should be doing this
03:49because I feel like some people are like ah too late for me I'm I'm 30 I'm 40
03:53there's no fix in this and it's like no there is yeah and I think that that is
03:57such like a beautiful thing and I think a lot about that when I hear break the
04:00chain yeah and it's just it's how do we feel today it's just right now yeah
04:05could I feel better than I do you know is there a way for me to could talk
04:10about this all day Keith Urban thank you so much especially for that last
04:15little bit there I really thank you I'm glad you guys deal with a lot of that
04:18too because even just people listening right now can hear something they need
04:23to hear and what do they say you know if you've been waiting on a sign here it is
