Russian President Vladimir Putin was warmly welcomed in Mongolia by President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh. The ceremony included traditional guards of honor and a full orchestra, showcasing the strong relationship between the two countries.

But this visit comes with controversy. Last week, Ukraine asked Mongolia to arrest Putin, pointing to an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant issued last year. The ICC accuses Putin of illegally deporting hundreds of Ukrainian children during the war.

According to ICC rules, Mongolia, as one of its 124 member states, is required to arrest Putin and send him to The Hague for trial if he enters its territory.

Despite this, the Kremlin has called the charges politically motivated and said it isn’t worried about Putin’s trip to Mongolia.
