00:00Thierry Baudet is 62 years old. He was a former school teacher and he is, as you said, the president of the
00:07Economic, Social and Environmental Council. In that way, he is some kind of a bridge between
00:12civil society and the French presidency, the French government, because he has a body that has been advising
00:20President Macron and his entourage. He helped organize conferences and that's also when he met
00:26Emmanuel Macron. Presumably, that's when he deepened ties with the French president.
00:32It would be an interesting decision, an interesting choice, if you will, because it would indicate that President Macron
00:38wants more of a technocratic
00:41government. The problem is, this morning and even yesterday, when the name came up and there was a bit of a surprise, a lot of
00:47parties said that he would be a bad choice because he would be a hand-picked person by Emmanuel Macron.
00:54He would be under the leadership of a President Macron with very little independence.
01:00Remember, in the past elections, in the snap elections called by President Macron,
01:05Macron and his party clearly lost the ballot, so it wouldn't be giving the right sign to the
01:12French people. This morning, you've got people from the far right, for instance,
01:16saying they would add to the chaos and that they would oppose the decision of Thierry Baudet. Many parties actually
01:22opposed to that decision.
01:24So again, we have to wait and see. We have to wait to hear from the Elysée Palace if a name comes up or not.
