Crocodile sightings in more urban areas may be more common nearer coastal towns and cities, with reports of sightings coming from states as varied as Melaka, Sarawak and Sabah.

However recently, posts have gone viral on social media claiming that a crocodile was spotted at a lake in Section 7, Shah Alam.

00:17claiming that a crocodile was spotted at a lake in Section 7, Shah Alam.
00:23In a statement on Facebook Tuesday, the Shah Alam City Council said it was aware of the viral posts
00:29and that the Environmental Health Department, in collaboration with the Wildlife and National Parks Department,
00:36was actively monitoring the situation.
00:39As a safety measure, the City Council has installed barrier ropes around the lake
00:44and will conduct periodic monitoring.
00:46Additionally, Wildlife and National Parks Department will place warning banners around the lake
00:53and set traps to capture the crocodile.
00:55Visitors are advised to exercise caution and, if necessary, avoid recreational activities around the lake in Section 7, Shah Alam.
