00:00Cunard's Queen Mary II is returning to the city this week to celebrate a
00:03milestone transatlantic crossing. The flagship ocean liner is arriving in the
00:07city on Friday 6th of September. At 1,132 feet in length, the ship is not only the
00:13largest in Cunard's fleet but also the largest ocean liner ever built. The ship
00:17is also the only passenger vessel providing a scheduled transatlantic
00:21service and completed her 400th sailing immediately before setting course for
00:26Liverpool as part of a British Isles voyage. This is the first Cunard ship in
00:31Liverpool since the city hosted a naming ceremony of the line's newest ship Queen
00:35Anne in June. The city was then named as Queen Anne's godparent in recognition of
00:40the long-lasting bond with its spiritual home. Liverpool was the birthplace of
00:44Cunard's first transatlantic crossing 184 years ago in 1840 and was the
00:49company's headquarters for 128 years. The vessel which can carry 2,620
00:55passengers will leave from Liverpool Cruise Terminal on Saturday 7th of
00:58September.
