00:00We're here with Glenn Danzig, and if you want to see some other Danzig videos and find out
00:10some interesting stuff, like the kind of stuff that drummer Chuck Biscuits collects, then
00:14you might want to check out their home video, Lucifuge.
00:16And on the video, for instance, I think it was the video for I'm the One, you wrestle
00:21an alligator.
00:22Yes, this is true.
00:23Is this your idea?
00:24No, it wasn't.
00:25It was a 600-pound alligator down on the Louisiana bayous, about 90 miles outside New Orleans.
00:34It was kind of funny.
00:35I mean, I thought I was going to wrestle an alligator this big, and I guess they all went
00:42under the water, because it was kind of cold.
00:45So the only one they had was one this big, and basically it was a situation where you
00:53could get very hurt, very quickly.
00:56And they didn't put this rubber thing over his mouth, which they're supposed to.
01:00They just, two times with some black masking tape, and said, you know, those Cajun guys,
01:05like, when you grew up in the bayous, like, come on, Glenn, get up, we on a gator.
01:10You know?
01:11But don't stand there, he'll break you in half with his face, and don't go back there.
01:14He's going to whack you with his tail, going to crack you in half.
01:17And then he's just bouncing on over, get on up here now, come on, get up.
01:22There was another segment in that video which has you running with wolves, which was like,
01:25really neat stuff.
01:26Yeah.
01:27I like, you know, animals.
01:28I get along very well with animals.
01:31And the wolves, you know, I went down, and the wolves said, be careful with these wolves,
01:36this one's very temperamental, and you know, started petting them, and...
01:40Great.
01:41Just like that.
01:42Just like that.
01:43Check that stuff out, that's on the home video.
01:44But right now it's time for the results of tonight's Crank Your Ink, and we will be back
01:47talking to Glenn Vanzig.
01:48Now, it was your choice, and it looks like you just, I noticed, after seeing you live
01:53so many times, is that you seem to have some influences from Elvis.
01:59This is true.
02:00I think Elvis was a great singer, regardless of what everyone says about him, and that's
02:06the way it is.
02:08Because I remember you did, you did Trouble when you started off, I don't know if you
02:12still thought you did it.
02:13We did it the other night on tour.
02:14Because that was a killer song, and when you, I think you opened up with that when I saw
02:16you play a couple years back.
02:18It was an encore song.
02:21An encore opened up, it was somewhere in the front of the beginning of the show.
02:24You thought they were late.
02:25Exactly.
02:26Now tell us about Vanzig tour plans right now.
02:29We just finished up some dates with Black Sabbath, just to warm up before we go over
02:33to Europe.
02:34We're going to be over there for at least two months, and we'll come back here and do
02:38our own tour.
02:39Everyone's scared to have us open a show for them, basically.
02:45Now it seems like this record's doing really, really well, which I'm very glad, because
02:48I've been telling everybody at home for a long time, you know, that the stuff is great.
02:54One thing good about the record, it entered into Billboard at 24, and what it did was
02:58it sent a message to all these people that just think music like what we do is a fluke,
03:04and that you know, it shouldn't get out of here, play here or there, and that it's just
03:08a flash, it's not going away, it's staying, and you know, we have more fans now than we
03:13ever had.
03:14Basically, without any kind of airplay on MTV or radio, you know, dedicated fans.
03:20And the fan base is growing, and one thing that I remember that I felt glad you did at
03:24my club Bordello a couple years back, which I brought some of the people, matter of fact,
03:28from the studio down here, is you played some acoustic stuff, which was just you sitting
03:32around, and it was amazing, I mean, you've got an amazing voice.
03:35We do that twice a year.
03:37And it was amazing.
03:38Do you ever thought about maybe sitting down and doing a blues album, or just an acoustic
03:43record?
03:44Rick wanted us to do a record like that, I don't know if he wants it live or studio.
03:48Maybe we'll do it.
03:49The thing I liked about doing it at your club was, it was, you know, what, about 50 or 60
03:54people we could fit back there.
03:55No, it's as small as this.
03:57Yeah, and so, I like it like that, you know.
03:59Because I think everybody's like, oh, Danzig is this, and they don't understand how talented
04:04the band is.
04:05I mean, your drummer Chuck plays on the smallest kit, but he's got the most amazing sound and
04:10is a great drummer to watch play too.
04:12In my opinion, he's the best drummer playing today.
04:16I think pretty much in there.
04:17And pretty much a lot of people just, you know, come to the show and they sit their
04:20drummer behind him and say, watch this guy, like Ice-T, you know, drummer, yeah.
04:25Because he doesn't need that much, but he's just amazing.
04:28And we're going to be back with Glenn Danzig, and we're also going to find out about this
04:30contest, and that's coming up after these messages.
