Ever since a leafy suburb of Sheffield was named as one of The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Live in the North 2024, the bourgeois area has been catapulted into the spotlight due to its “happy community” and “cosy coffee shops.”

00:00Netheredge is one of the best places to live in the north of England. In fact, it's one
00:06of the top ten in the UK and certainly the best in Sheffield according to the Sunday
00:13Times. We went to Netheredge to find out why this place is so desirable. From the small
00:22independent cafes where the baristas know your name, to the independent shops which
00:28line Abbeydale Road. There is apparently so much going for Netheredge. So much so that
00:36comedian Mark Steele for his BBC Radio 4 series looking at different places to live across
00:43the UK came to Netheredge to meet the locals where he discovered that there was a lentil
00:50belt and a so-called hummus belt. He also said that people outside of the area said
00:56that Netheredge wasn't real Sheffield. But the Sunday Times shares how this leafy suburb
01:04of Sheffield is home to some of the best schools that people want to get their children into.
01:11As well as regular yard sales and quarterly Netheredge farmers markets where you get to
01:17see in Netheredge crossroads some of the best suppliers and independent businesses from
01:24near and far. There has even been a campaign by locals and businesses to get Netheredge
01:33officially proclaimed as a village. Whilst currently they've not been successful even
01:40though there is a very popular bowling club and social area in Netheredge and of course
01:45cafe number nine. An independent coffee shop where you'll find a range of live music, freshly
01:52roasted coffee, all before you go shopping at Zed's Whole Foods store in the heart of
